This portrayal of Sofia is entirely my own and is based on the television show, The Penguin. I have also read her comic appearances, but limited inspiration shall be taken from them. As I am new to writing Sofia, my portrayal and characterization will almost certainly evolve over time. I am learning about her while writing her with y'all.

 Due to my big age, this blog is strictly 21+. I ask that those under the age of 21 do not follow me, for my own personal comfort. This blog is also strictly mutuals-only. From memes to starter calls, I will only interact with mutuals and this is non-negotiable.

 I try my very best to tag all possible triggers accordingly. I want to curate an experience that is respectful to all my mutuals, so please let me know if you need anything further tagged. I will always be compliant with any requests. I will tag all triggers as “trigger tw”

Please always know you are welcome in my IMs to discuss plots. If you want to write but don’t have one in mind, that’s okay, too! We’ll figure it out together. DISCLAIMER: how sofia talks is a big part of how i write her. and her dialogue includes using terms like "psycho." i understand why it might upset people, but altering her dialog and mannerisms feels inauthentic to her character, so i'm going to continue writing her as is and will tag posts with any use of the word with 'slur tw'. for the record, i have a diagnosed psychosis myself, so i also feel it's healing or me to reclaim those kinda terms back. anyways, curate your safe space, besties <3

It was easy to tell when a person had been backed into a corner. There was something terribly feral about their eyes, the way they managed to stay coiled for attack even in times of peace, and how with every shift in their environment, they responded. They have no allies, and they’re always ravenous for a sense of self-sustaining purpose. The storm never ceased, pouring into the outcry of their gaze. Hers was a tidal wave.

@s0fias reminded him of a shrike, a smaller-sized bird and killer, doe-eyed and pretty, but when it opened its mouth, it was either a song or a scream. An overlooked carnivore. And it devoured its prey in one shift, efficient bite.

His hands clench then unclench as he studies her. Truthfully, he should not get involved with her if he could help it. He was smart enough to know he should avoid the scrutiny of the people who were invested in not seeing her around. The city talks, and unfortunately, Will is aware of how awful Gotham could be. He is dumb enough to try to clean up the trash anyways, as if his civic duty got him anywhere. That’s not why he fully does it, but those details were of no one’s concern but his own.

“We have the similar problems, Ms. Gigante. We want to bite into the same people.” / continued.

Her mouth is too twisted to allow the formation of a smile. But something less harsh than her usual expression settles onto her mouth. Her mouth, with the lipstick smashed on the top and bottom lip, no longer meticulously applied. Sofia wants everything about her, from her clothes to her makeup to her black hair, to scream in ways she was never allowed to. Until her entire being, her whole essence, is a rebellion against that which would cage her. That which would shackle her.

❛ Do you, too, have an affinity for biting into birds? ❜ Curiosity is sharp on her tongue, a blade that bites down into her skin and draws blood. Soon, she is obsessed with the idea of it, with the idea that Will might be a predator of her nature. She walks closer to him, crooked in her demeanor, and looms like a haunting over his body.

But then, quite abruptly, she decides she wants to ask a better question. A more astute one, if you will. One that pieces into the heart of what she actually wants to know instead of dancing around it like a coward. Her eyes widen. ❛ Are you willing to do what I'm willing to do? ❜

She's willing to do so much, Will, to clip the wings of her prey.

❛ do you ever feel at times as if you were not… as if you were not a person? ❜

What are feelings to a woman scorned? What are feelings to... the hangman? Are you any of those things, Sofia? Or are they just words strung together in a crooked line? Their placement is, at best, unwise, and, at worse, dangerous. She, Sofia Falcone, thinks of what it means to be a person with feelings. She, Sofia Gigante, thinks of what it means to be a person without feelings. The world calls the latter a monster and makes a nasty example out of the former. Not good odds either way, she would say.

Sofia looks at Will, the one with the question, and hums. And it's off putting, to be honest, these little noise that springs from her mouth. Until, finally, she decides to speak. She walks towards him, heels clacking on the floorboard, and shakes her head. Theatric, but honest, all the same. ❛ I wouldn't recommend being a person, ❜ she says this, with much feeling. There's memories of pain, of anguish, flashing in her eyes.

She nods, then.

❛ Be something with sharper teeth. ❜

sharks, with a nose full of blood, have more sincere smiles than i do. i look at her like she's something to be eaten. i want her to do me the decency to look at me the same way. it's so tempting for these people to play with their food.

here, i am, encouraging her to swallow me whole in a single bite.

i make a grand sweeping gesture with my arm, swooping it around the front of me in a half circle. ❛ does the harleen quinzel not appreciate romance anymore? ❜ she can lie if she likes. i'm not her keeper, after all.
