He chuckled. “No, it’s spring break.” His laughter was drawn short though by the size of the bruise his boyfriend was touching. He slowly moved the hair out of his eyes, pushing it back behind his ear and cupping his cheek gently. “What happened...?”

"Got into it with a guy downtown," Johnny shrugged, biting his tongue at the touch. He moved his hand down to hold Dallas's, fingers intertwining. "It's cool. I won the fight." Saying that, he grinned toothily at his boyfriend, eyes lighting up with pride. "You should'a seen his face, Dal, he ain't gonna try nothin' for a long time after that."

Dallas gave him a sad but soft smile, shaking his head and sighing, “And I hope you’ll try to not do anything either.” His tone was riddled with worry.
