Soft Lit - I Can’t Help It

Tyler and Tara played this song in Rennes last December, at the GODMODE showcase at Transmusicales. The party was unreal – one of the best nights of my life, and not just because we played “Are You Gonna Go My Way” at the end of the thing and everybody lost it. But really the most vivid memory I have is the gaggle of older French men who came backstage after the Soft Lit set. When Tyler and Tara came off there must have been seven or eight of these guys back there with us. Tara stepped down first and they saw her and immediately they just started dancing, doing what I guess is the French version of jazz hands, singing the hook to this song back at her. “Iiiiiii can’t help it…” but like in a really thick, really giddy French accent. It made me feel proud to be an American.
