Cherik. Pietro Maximoff. Doug Ramsey. Age of Revelation was shit we do not acknowledge it. 🙂↕️ Mostly drawing my own variants of my faves in my own AUs. Just keeping this place as an archive for myself and having fun. This is a side blog btw. Adult | Butch/Masc ⚢ | Esp/Eng | ♾️ | 🇵🇷🌺
For anybody wondering why I ship Pietro and Doug 😂
I feel like I have to say this even though I know I don't. But just in case anyone even stumbles upon my little space here, and is wondering what the hell I'm doing with this crack pairing, I'd like y'all to know I just ship Pietro and Doug (romantically or just as close friends) because I was writing an AU story with a friend where they were both secondary characters in their 20s and they so happened to interact by chance a few times, became friends, and then it just sort of slowly happened because they had a good dynamic that really grew on me and was fun to write about. I also like how Doug's power allows him to see P for who he really is despite everyone else thinking he sucks. Among many more other things I'm not going to ramble about. 😭 I thought it was sweet and cute. It's not that deep. They've sort of become my faves, along with Charles and Erik, and I have a few AUs with them.
I multiship. In canon I liked Pietro with Emily, Clint and Namor the most. (I have a lot to say about Pietro in house of M but that's not for here lmfao) I also don't mind him with Remy or anyone else. I like him with Monet ok. But it seems most Monet fans hate him for some reason? 😭 Idk what's up with that.
For Doug, Douglock is peak. I adore those two. And, despite my qualms with how they met, I do think Doug and Bei are cute. And there's a few others I ship him with.
If I just got done seeing how Jax treated Ribbit and everyone else in the circus, my first instinct would not be to give him a hug.
I’d feel—at the very least— a little conflicted towards someone who fantasizes about strangling me. But apparently Pomni isn’t an actual character and solely exists to facilitate Jax’ angst into the story.
I promised myself I wouldn't rant here but this shit got me heated.
Warning for mentions of abuse I guess.
Listen, I'm a bleeding heart. I will not excuse abuse, but I'm capable of understanding—and even having sympathy for—a person whose trauma warped them into the person they are. Even more so when it's a fictional character.
I think I would have felt more sorry for Jax had the show, the merch, and his fans not tried to tell me, make me, and even guilt me into having to feel sorry for him. No, actually—I don't have to feel sorry for that asshole.
This might be personal, but it reminds me of my father. He is insecure about his own sexuality and he forced himself to hide it. He abused the hell out of me as a kid when he found out about me being gay. He was my father, so there used to be a part of me that felt sorry for him—for the things he endured that made him bury important parts of himself in shame for fear of punishment and rejection; for the hurt he's been through that led him to this hatred of himself and people like me. But over the years, seeing how he has continued to treat people, especially the vulnerable, my sympathy for him just ceased to exist.
People have tried to force me to feel sorry for him. To be patient. To understand him. And to even love him. People he's abused emotionally and physically have told me I should love him. They talk about his trauma, making up excuses for him, while completely ignoring the trauma he deliberately caused me, others, and even themselves!
Nah. Absolutely not. I'm allowed to hate him. And people are allowed to hate Jax.
I don't want any of this bullshit guilt-tripping of victims. I hate that they minimized the trauma he caused Gangle and Ragatha. And I hate that Pomni's character, whom I was excited to find out more about, ended up ultimately being just an empty vessel to help present Jax's trauma to the viewer and tell everyone they should feel sorry for him. I can't fucking stand when she sits there and tries to compare the "bAd ThInGs" they've all done to the abuse that Jax inflicted upon them.
Bro, you've witnessed the torment he put everyone through—especially to Gangle, who's vulnerable AF, and to poor Rags. People who were ready to accept and welcome him with open arms. And you're telling me that, on top of all that, even when he fantasized about strangling you, and seeing that he drove his best friend to suicide knowing fully what he was doing, you still hug this hijo de puta and tell everyone else that they're comparable to him? And you tell yourself that you just didn't try hard enough in the end to prevent his abstraction? As if every other woman in the show also didn't try hard to reach Jax? (Ribbit literally abstracting because that's all she did?) Don't piss me off. This hit too close to home.
I know a bunch of his fans love to say that you just don't understand the character. Actually yes, I understand him perfectly. The tragedy of his character isn't lost on me. I just won't accept the way it was meant to be consumed. Like I said, I'm a bleeding heart! It's extremely easy to get me to sympathize with a character. I seriously cry over villain backstories all the fucking time! The way this was executed (plus the obnoxious toxic fans, which absolutely never help) just sucked!
I had high hopes for this show. It had an interesting setting, fun character designs, funny and intense moments. At first it had me hooked on wanting to know more about the world and the characters. Only for it to pull the rug from under my feet at the last second and suddenly turn into "the pity party for Jax show."
The show was apparently supposed to be about him and Pomni. (Which I didn't get at all until a little before the end.) But it wasn't even about Pomni in the end. She ended up being a nothing burger of a character made to—as you've said- facilitate the angst in Jax's story. Incredible.
If people like Jax that's fine. I don't care and I don't judge at all. I can see why he would be an interesting and compelling character. But because of the way this was all presented, I really can't stand him.
Anyway, I'm just here for the seasoned yuri between Zooble and Gangle now. ✌️
Judging by his right hand, he's about three seconds away from saying "Live long and prosper" in the original Vulcan. (Which, given what we know happens to him, is a little sad, but grimly amusing)
And for those, justifiably, complaining about errors in the languges he's using, well, that's why he's still training with the New Mutants, and not on the X-Men.
Aww I don't fault him for the errors in the language. The writers just didn't know what they were doing lol 😂 I don't think Doug would make those jarring mistakes too often.
That being said. 😂
Me if I got to write Doug for marvel after he goes to one Bad Bunny concert. "¿Qué es la que, corillo? 😎" Puts an arm around Dani cuz that's his pana. "Loca, ¿To' bien? Mera, vamo' a prender un blon' pa' ponernos bien locos. ¿El pasto de Krakoa? Jaj! Chacho, eso si que nos va a poner a volar. Full." 🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷
Got this commission from Himsen! So all credit for this lovely art goes to her. Thank you so much! 🙂↕️💛
They're my variants from an AU in her style. ☺️ They're both around the same age here. Pietro is older than Doug by just a couple of years.
Something about a misunderstood, restless speedster and a patient braniac that can somehow decipher and understand him. I love the mindful x the impulsive. They are opposites in many ways but end up complimenting each other. I have so many thoughts but, unfortunately, I am too painfully embarrassed to share more. 😭 I just think they're sweet.
Also, damn, she blessed Doug with a derrière that rivals Pietro's canonically nice ass. I'm dead. 💀
Original Comic Art titled New Mutants Annual 2 page 35 - 1st Douglock, located in André's New Mutants - Annual 2 - Interiors Comic Art Galle
Now this is just me being green with sheer envy, the first true page of Doug and Warlock fusing into "Douglock" as drawn by Alan Davis in New Mutants Annual #2, and it is GORGEOUS!
And it's only looking at this I saw that there is art I've never seen before within it!
The top two panels look like this in the finished version
It's a powerful, beautiful, almost poetic moment, full of action and expression.
But check out the top two panels of the line art again
There's ANOTHER image!
An image of Doug and Warlock overlapping each other (as Davis was wont to draw them even unmerged) watching themselves merge into Douglock
Clearly the colouring and printing at the time was unable to show the background image properly so they just ignored it, but it adds a lovely extra dimension to the moment, no?

quicksilver is genuinely one of the best superhero names in the business. antiquated and poetic term for the element mercury, which is named after the god of speed. and he's literally quick.
