@softheartbeam
I am struggling to find reason to want to be alive. Everything has been monotony and pain lately. This is a space I’ve been stalling in. Even when I was Healthy™️ I still struggled so much mentally.
I made an agreement with my body. If I’m going to be here, I need to feel baseline level good in my body. If I can get there, the rest is manageable. I will do the mental work, the social work, the physical work of relating with more skill. I need to feel good as a baseline in my body though. I want us to live harmoniously. It’s hard to articulate the amounts of pain I’ve been feeling. It feels shameful to even say, like how is it possible to feel that bad for that long?
New age spirituality says I’ve done this to myself. It’s programmed with a shame almost more powerful than the religious (which at least promises the redemption of your soul) that says “you are low vibrational and that’s why low vibrational things happen to you. Fix it.” Illness is the fault of the person who is ill and there’s an opportunity to wear a weight bigger than ever before. It’s not the toxic environment, it’s not the economy, it’s not the stress you were born into via race and class—it’s you! You are the problem and if you could only be happy, you wouldn’t attract so many terrible things into your life.
This kind of belief in the control and self determination of an individual that negates and ignores all that is happening in the environment around them is sick.
I want to put my finger on it. I want to say “if I have xyz, I will be able to live happily. I will try”. I want more reference points for joy, for god. I want to walk with certainty in my ability to not only be present here but to create a life that feels really good.
I spent my 20s running from the life I grew up in. Every desire I had was fueled by not by pursuit of purpose, but by what I knew I did not want. Now in my 30s, I don’t have the stamina to out run it anymore. I’ve been sitting and processing and processing and processing. I’ve been distracting when things get to heavy. I’ve been trying to recreate myself from the ashes once again. It’s harder this time.
I thinking coming home both saved and destroyed my life. I am repulsed by the relationships I’ve kept to keep me company.
I want to bargain with the universe. You make me healthy again and I will never let darkness consume me like that for so many years. I won’t. I won’t. I won’t. I wish I could say that having a functional body would change everything. I wish I could believe that and use that idea as fuel to start again. The truth is I was depressed before. I’ve been depressed most of my life. And folks keep promising there is something outside of this emotion. I have not been able to recreate a contentment and safety I’ve never felt in my body. I’ve been lost.
Sick, I’ve actually felt less misery than I have in my entire life. The moments of joy are fleeting but more pronounced because I insist upon them and hold onto them fiercely.
How do you create a life out of the ashes and the rubble you’ve been born into? How do you create a desire to live when you cannot contribute in a traditional way? How do you expand the moments of joy so that they aren’t a flicker but a light that remains consistent throughout all that you do? I want a community and a religion that fits my needs and is respectful of my body and provides a light through the darkness.

my dream is to have a generator business partner that provides the juice. I provide the dreams. Collaboration sounds so much more fun than going it alone. I wanna collaborate
brunch today with my favorite people was so good 💗 breakfast tacos, pizza and pie with coconut whipped cream!
To the friends who have become my family, thank you. Your presence has been an immeasurable blessing in my life. Thank you for showing me what the true essence of friendship looks like. Thank you for loving every version of me. Our bond is rare, and no matter where life takes us, know I always got your back.

an impulse to be wild suddenly means eating granola and staying up to late to take a bath. What is going on here?
I'm finding it hard to find my voice lately. I've been trying to be so polite and thoughtful that I'm biting my own tongue til it bleeds. Living with other people and incorporating their habits and rhythms into your lifestyle is hard work. I miss the luxury of living alone and not having to worry abt anyone touching my things. I'm exhausted and I hate feeling exhausted in my own home because that's where I'm supposed to be able to recuperate after a long day. I hate having to talk to people when I just want to be alone. I hate having difficult conversations with ppl abt boundaries and cleanliness. I know it's necessary but I feel like I do enough scolding at work. But I know that I have to put my foot down somewhere. If I don't say something soon I'm only going to be more upset. Points to talk about: -cleaning (sweeping & mopping so that we don't have bugs) -electricity use (making sure things are turned off when they're not being used to save energy & not leaving lights on all night) -Tupperware and plates (I don't mind if you use my dishes but I do mind if they're not clean so I don't have any to use. If you use my things make sure to wash them afterwards so that I can use them.) -guests (in the future, definitely let me know if you are having someone come visit how long they are planning to stay. Communicating abt guests is important. Mention Beam & leaving him in the house) -bills (how did bills work out in the past? I don't mind arranging them myself because I want precise unrounded numbers- is it okay to open your mail?)
I haven’t felt the need to vent online in a while but damn...it feels like so much has changed in such a short amount of time. I miss the days when people used to get on here and spill their guts nightly. It used to make the world feel so much more connected, so much less alone.
Sometimes, I feel extremely powerful, like superhuman. Like...in those moments I can do anything and I do and I’m successful and great and living my best life
then other times, I feel like a window is closing in on me. Being a woman in her late twenties (omg I’m in my late twenties how odd does that feel to say?) is such a strange time. I feel like there are so many things that people, your body, your friends are screaming at you to do. Big things, larger decisions than I feel like I’ve ever made before so I guess that’s what it means to be a adult.
I want to be able to steep in confidence and self assurance. I want it to fill me up always but 4/7 days, I’m lacking. It’s definitely getting better, but I guess I’m impatient.
I worry a lot about my friends. I know the ideas I’m struggling with, they must be too, but it seems like we’re all too far away from each other to talk about it. Just too emotionally removed to have the conversation. Why isn’t everyone talking about how afraid they are? How it wracks their bodies in the purest moments?
(2/2) “It’s very difficult to talk about adoption on the Internet. No matter what you say, somebody will say the opposite. We adopted Axel last January. He had spent three years in the orphanage. The staff loved him and were desperate to find him a family. We were the only ones on the list for an older child. We knew it was going to be difficult. I had read a lot of literature on the difficulties of overcoming early neglect. And we’re making progress. We’re teaching him that our home is a permanent home. We are learning that touch is a good thing. We are learning that hugs can make you feel better. And I’m learning to not put so much pressure on myself. At first we felt so much pressure to love him. It would hurt me when he didn’t want to be hugged. I wanted to immediately love him as much as our biological son. And I felt guilty because it wasn’t happening right away. But then I stopped pressuring myself. My husband and I decided to focus on basics. We focused on providing food, shelter, and education. And once we stopped pressuring ourselves to feel a certain way, we discovered that we already loved him quite a bit. It’s a rollercoaster. But I feel like we’re heading up. Adopting an older child is difficult, but every child is difficult. My biological child was difficult. Only this time, after several months, I’m sleeping through the night, my boobs don’t hurt, and I don’t smell like diapers. So I feel like I should be doing a victory dance.” (Santiago, Chile)
