As some of you may have seen, a couple weeks ago our dear friend Wynnie renovated the B side elevator in the Copycat, cleaned and repainted it, and created a beautiful art installation that covered the walls. She did this relatively quietly and anonymously over the course of two days & nights with her own resources, as a benevolent gesture with the intent of transforming something ugly into a magical experience for all of us, our guests in the Copycat, and appreciators of art and beauty.
Last Friday night between 1-1:30am, just 5 days after it was completed, someone deliberately destroyed her work, and our beautiful elevator, covering the walls and floor sloppily with blue paint. It has since been stripped and repainted by the mgmt, and is now a new shade of ugly.
We have reason to believe this act of vandalism was done by two of our own neighbors in the B side of the Copycat. This is very saddening and disturbing, and we're putting the word out for the sake of all our fellow artists and friends who have chosen to make the Copycat a home, and a nurturing and supportive space for creative expression..
