there's something oddly endearing about wilhelm's smile and how it only appears when simon is around

I noticed something about how Simon and Wilhelm are wearing the glow sticks at the party. The glow sticks are rainbow coloured which obviously holds gay symbolism. Wilhelm is wearing his across his body almost as if it (his sexuality) is restricting or weighing on his heart. Simon is wearing his on his head like a crown - out and proud. I also likes how the crown places Simon in “prince” position. Wilhelm is Sweden’s prince but Simon is Wilhelm’s prince.

As many here I am somewhat obsessed with Young Royals and can’t stop rewatching it 🙈

At first I thought Wille wearing a heavy wristwatch was just him having to wear rather traditional attire (like his very mature looking coat not many teenagers would choose) and August can be spotted wearing a similar serious looking watch but then I had a suspicion…

The watch makes its first appearance when Wille comes back from the funeral

And is present throughout the rest of the show. If we look at Wille’s last conversation with Erik, we can clearly see Wille not wearing a watch

Now I’m not going to spam this post with every other instance that showed Wille not having anything on his wrist before Erik’s passing. Just take my word that it’s true (or better go rewatch it for yourself :))

Since we can see the watch when he comes back to school but not at the funeral or the dinner with his parents, we can assume that at some point when Wilhelm was home he went to Erik’s room and went through Erik’s stuff grieving his brother and ended up taking a memento. (Yes, he most likely went through it alone 😭)

And then in this scene after Wille wakes up with Simon it’s clearly audible (while not visible) that Wille does not forget to put the watch on.

I think it’s such a heartbreaking and touching detail. It’s a shame there’s not enough time in those 6 episodes to talk through Wille’s grief but I love the fact that if we look close enough we can see the show takes care to demonstrate his pain. This subtlety is precious.
