‘Grýla’ by Þrándur Þórarinsson. “Grýla, is in Icelandic mythology, a horrifying monster and a giantess living in the mountains of Iceland. She is said to come from the mountains at Yuletide in search of naughty children. The Grýla legend has been frightening to the people of Iceland for many centuries - her name is even mentioned in Snorri Sturluson’s thirteenth century Edda. Most of the stories told about Gryla were to frighten children – her favorite dish was a stew of naughty kids…” (not my text)

$13.70 BigSwingingOvaries Patch from JessDeWahls’ Etsty store here.
As I wrote on my FaceBook page about this patch:
We always refer to people who are adventurous, ambitious, audacious, outspoken, pushing the limits etc… as “having big balls” or going “balls to the wall”. Well then I saw this patch on Tumblr and thought, “SO MUCH BETTER!”
From Jess De Wahlis:
#bigswingingovaries 2015 is a 10cmØ sew-on patch based on my original embroidery, also available at the shop. This will be a yearly design, only ever available in the respective year and therefor collectable. Part of the proceeds will go to techmums (http://techmums.co/ )
feministfiberart:
We love this patch designed by Jess De Wahls! She was one of our first confirmed artists for Feminist Fiber Art, and she is making a sculpture piece specifically for our exhibit and sending it to us all the way from London!
This patch is based on of one of her original, handmade embroidery pieces! You can nab one in her awesome etsy shop.
