upon actually watching, i can say that the atla movie seems to exist more to making the characters hot and sexy for 100 minutes than for actual plot

and that's very understandable

i always love the trope of a character getting hurt and refusing to get looked at until their SO is there, and i love it especially with tokka

toph get hurt during an investigation, and refusing to get into an ambulance, stating she's fine and doesn't need all the medical attention. then someone slyly calls the council to send sokka over to the scene, he shows up internally Freaking Out but keeping a straight face so he doesn't make toph even more resistant to the care. when he finally talks to her for a bit and then asks to look at it, she reluctantly lets him and he finally convinces her to see a doctor, she agrees on the condition that none of her officers are around and sokka stays with her

I was tired today but needed to praise my idol Toph Beifong and how ABSOLUTELY JACKED SHE IS IN THE MOVIE OMG!!!!!!

every single tokka shipper has gone through the "'suyin is obviously sokka's daughter' to 'suyin better not be sokka's daughter'" pipeline and it's amazing

in case it isn't already obvious, toph is my baby girl princess, so seeing ppl mischaracterizing her makes me genuinely upset

on a deeper note, i relate to her so much that it causes a spiral of existentialism wherein i think about every possible time someone could've thought i was a bitch or unfeeling or insensitive because i either failed to express myself correctly or i misinterpreted the vibe of a situation

so i don't rly like that

i can't wrap my head around the appeal of zutoph, but when i think about it at all, i realize that's probably how other ppl feel about tokka so i just stfu

one of my fav fav fav tokka headcanons is the gaang betting on which one will confess first

ALSO i forgot to mention this before but i liked the way NATLA developed tokka's friendship!

i don't even mean it with the context of future shipping, i just think the show did a good job conveying how toph is the closest to sokka and how sokka looks out for toph.

over the past few days i've really be realizing that i enjoyed book two more than i thought i did LOL

my biggest complaint with natla is how tf was toph able to read??? yeah idc if the characters are raised, she's never seen them before so she doesn't know what the symbols mean

like hello blind people irl also need to learn braille as a language before they can read it

ok i just finished natla book two, and i enjoyed it!

like yeah, it was a bit cringe and awkward in some scenes, but overall it was an entertaining watch

i think most of the changes made sense and put an interesting spin on some of the topics not delved into in the original show

i was kinda watching it as if it's an analysis of the original characters that explores how they might behave if the of show had a different tone. and that sounds pretentious even as i type it, but the live action honestly made me think even more about the characters

and ik everyone was worried about kataang in the live action after watching book one, but i think things are going well now. i like the way they handled aang's crush, i thought it was cute lol. and aang is more obvs than katara about having a crush, but i'm still picking up subtle vibes from her end too. and gordon did a good job with aang's softer side, i feel so maternal towards him 😖

book two feels leagues ahead of book one, so if they keep this trend up, then book three is gonna be soooo good
