You lean in, smiling back at his grin, and hand him his glass just as your lips meet. Valerius sighs, relaxing into you, but then immediately grimacing when a bitter taste meets his tongue. You chuckle at the expression when you pull away, laying beside him once more with your own glass of wine. “I told you you taste bitter,” you mock soft and teasingly.
“It’s not because of the wine,” Valerius insists in a grumble, closing his eyes once again when he feels your fingers reach up to the back of his neck. When you start to rub at the strained muscles there, it pulls a pleased sigh from him. He starts to relax even further… almost sleepy.
“Whatever you say,” comes your whisper, to which he only barely hears. He’s so lost in his thoughts that he can’t quite follow what you’re saying, not when you’ve forgone your glass of wine and focused instead on rubbing his shoulders, extending your thumbs to the base of his spine.
“What are you plann…ing…” Comes his words slowly when you’ve tucked his hair back, out of the way, and kissed up his throat. Oh no, it wasn’t just a nice shoulder massage you offered, but an open invitation. With a sip of wine, he considered it- and slowly pushed a hand between your thighs.

Aftercare- would love a good glass of wine after bedding you and definitely sinks into you if you give him a massage. His shoulders always end up so tense so a good rub helps
Bodypart- his neck is sensitive, a good kiss or two and rubbing just the base of his neck really gets him in the mood (also his hair being pet but I wanted to do something a little different this time~)

An open question. Is it safe to assume that every route is a a separate AU and some events didn't happen/are different in each except obvious fixed points like the masquerade happening? Does that also mean we have to interpret each character route separately despite negative/positive info we get outside of it? Would that also mean if one character did something bad/good in own route it might have never happened outside in other routes? As well as character doing something bad/good in other routes mught never happened in their own route?
My example: Valerius betraying Nadia only in her route or Lucio's different demise in main LI routes.
My question is what are all fixed points and what is separate events? Like:
Does Julian hangs in all of the routes? Was he also fed a beetle in all of them?
Are Asras parents imprisoned in all of them? What happens to them outside of Asra's route?
Is conflict between Nadia and her family still present in all of the routes?
Or the romances: nadiaxportia julianxasra asraxmuriel - those are not in every route
I have too many questions like that but if what I say is plausible, then is it safe to assume that simply saying "this happened in one route" is not enough to interpret/judge a character, especially if the event happens outside of said character route? What if that event might not be a fixed point for all of the routes?
Maybe we all have so many disagreements about characters because we see them as ONE being instead of 6 VERSIONS OF SAID CHARACTER WHO MAKES DIFFERENT CHOICES IN EVERY ROUTE - THEIR MAIN ROUTE BEING THE CANON ONE FOR THEM.
But well, I had this thought in the shower so. Thx for reading my wild theory.🐒
MY THOUGHTS because this type of story dynamic REALLY intruiges me and i love it.
we know that all of the past events are definitely set in stone, no matter the route. that is, julian was definitely fed a plague beedle, asra and the apprentice definitely fought over the plague and asra ran away, nadia definitely came to vesuvia to get away from her family and so forth. however, i think some bits in the "present" are up for debate.
things that dont tend to happen in every route: i don't think valerius betrays nadia. the reason that happens, i imagine, is because apprentice is there reaffirming her ability to rule without the courtiers input, and that's a problem for him. so he tried to take nadia out of the picture. following that line of thought with the other 2 currently finished routes, i don't think asra goes searching for his parents because the apprentice was never in the arcana realms with him primarily, and julian never got into the palace to regain his memories. that was perhaps just a short cut in his route.
that being said, clearly events still occur, just in a different way. like in nadia's route, asra is still reuinited with his parents, and as mentioned above, julian does eventually remember things, but perhaps not as much as he did in his own route(ie. his past with the apprentice, it could be up for debate and interpretation).
to answer specific questions as example:
julian does hang in the first three clearly... however, these next 3 are setting up. wildly different. so it's hard to say if it will happen, especially in muriel and lucio's routes. but even knowing his innocence, julian found a way to get himself hung to see the hanged man, so maybe it will continue to happen? that ends up as a set up specifically to reveal the plagues origin, not because julian is thought to have killed lucio.
asra's parents are always imprisoned, but whether they are released or not is what changes. there is no mention of them in nadia's route at the end, but there is in julian's. frankly i just don't know and they clearly weren't dying in the realms, but maybe they eventually are found and released no matter the route?
i would say yes, to nadia's familial conflict. portia always sends the letters to her family, and there's always tension but we simply don't see it because we aren't the one nadia is confiding in. in julian's route, portia would be that person, for example, who may help her through it.
and finally for the canon characters ships! that's probably just for fun for the writers LOL. they get a little side romance to hint at throughout the routes and everyone gets to have someone in the end! ... more or less, at least. there are exceptions like muriel, asra in julian's route, and clearly lucio.
also, i wouldn't really consider them as being "different versions"? just all apart of a wider whole.
i'll take lucio as an example because he's simply the easiest to make this connect to, and also i love lucio 🙇♀️ but it applies to ALL the characters, so keep that in mind please..! i WILL make other examples if needed but this is long enough as is, i think.
i've seen some people argue that lucio is depicted completely different from how he is in the main three routes. possible, but i don't think he is an entirely different "version" of himself. both parts are equally him, he's just handling(.... or not handling at all, rather) the situation differently. one way i see the current lucio from his own route in the another character's route: being excited about the fizzy drink room at the masqurade from asra's route. there's no "evil" there, that's just lucio, having fun like he's wanted to for 3 years. that's the lucio we see now, in his first chapter. but the lucio who throws a whole ass branch at us later in asra's route is still lucio, he's just mad and not handling things well, for good reason really. people aren't that one dimintional irl, so why do they have to be in writing? lucio isn't always this negative and chaos wrecking force. he's also this dumbass who wants to prank, party and love his dogs. since i love using in game reference, here's a scene from asra's route that supports it, because lucio being mentioned at all in this sentence always made me think real hard:
this got long but all in all? all past events are definitely set in stone. all relevant story events always find their way to coming into the story, if not always in the same way they did in the route with which it holds the most weight. also, all of the things that characters do in each route are not special to that route in particular.... if that makes sense LOL. and i cannot stress enough, "all apart of a larger whole" really sums it up. sometimes people simply fail to make to connection or understand how one character can be so different, but again, people and fictional characters can be so multi-dimentional that these sides of themselves occur. think about how different you are with your family versus your close friend group? additionally, just think about how different some things would be in your life if that one person (ie. the apprentice) wasn't in it, influencing it in the slightest way. or large way, like the apprentice does.

Yes exactly. This was what I was trying to explain in a separate post several months ago (although maybe I hadn’t put it so eloquently) and with the screenshots as well as examples I’d like to agree! I’m pretty sure each route is separate timelines/aus from one another where only certain events, in game, are set in stone to happen, like Lucio coming back to life in all three main routes or Julian somehow regaining his memories, etc.
I really like the way it’s structured personally because it gives us personal insight to characters and situations depending on the timeline (character and upright/reversed) you’ve chosen or managed to get. It also gives an excuse to see different versions or limited versions of other characters- like how in Julian’s route you get some personal time with Valdemar in the dungeons while say in Nadia’s or Asra’s you only really get a glimpse of them. It makes for an interesting sort of exploration for each route and mapping out character relations.
At least- I like how it’s structured.
AU isn’t a theory. It’s factual. That’s how VNs work my dudes. But- to be entirely frank- we don’t know the full 'canon’ of characters simply as we don’t have any character’s full scope personality. The closest we have is the OG three but even then its a tiny bit dubious. The ‘Why’ is simple. All the routes are not done yet. The characters are indeed, singular. And Fans shouldn’t see them as having 6 different iterations or ‘selves’. Each route is fully canon as the LIs do not change in personality at all with the exception of their upright route. The closest you will get to a ‘true’ personality is taking the collective of the LI from every route and their own with the exception of their upright- because the upright is the DIRECT consequence of MC helping guiding them to their personal growth. From a narrative view, this is to do with how VNs work. Shared timelines and characters mean that universals are constant. Personalities are constant. Arcana is unique only in how it directly spells out ‘MC can help the LI grow and become a better person’. Thats literally the focus of the game. Otherwise, the characters are the same across the board. The Nadia we see in her reversed is the same exact Nadia we see in Asra’s. All her choices, all her actions at the root, all come from a stagnant defined personality. The closest we have for a fully in depth view of a LI’s personality is the OG three, but traits possibly hinted at might take forefront in others. IE: In Asra’s route it’s said he is unintentionally toxic/harmful to others with his negligence. With the reveal of other routes we see yes, yes he VERY much can be purposely cruel and even malicious in his actions. Are these different ‘versions’ of Asra? No- they are the same exact character because the personality has not changed at all. Only MC in the upright where Asra reforms this does his personality change and we see the aberration. The culmination is thus that Asra is unintentionally toxic/harmful to others with his negligence with the potential to reform. From a Fan perspective, we take the collective of what is known- just why we can’t say with 100% certainty a character is any one way as not all the routes are done yet. The closest is the OG 3 since their reversed (core personality), and upright (best potential self) is ate the forefront. In the end, canon in Arcana is everything we see on screen. But as Fans we can’t make an informed call of a collective character’s personality since the game is not yet completed. Even once all are done- people will disagree the same way people disagree on if Sam is the real hero in the LotR trilogy. Different people interpret things different, which is often what writers want- especially in VNs where they’re trying to make you invested into a character you’re to relate to.
