"Neither should you." Not that he isn't relieved to see him, but releasing him from captivity wouldn't go unnoticed. If they discovered it was Dane freeing him, either before or later on, what would happen to Dane. Would he be killed? Or exiled? Hurt at the very least? Dane was winning the Solari's war for them, and Finn has seen firsthand just how very deadly his former lover was. It was only by sheer avoidance, at least on Finn's part, that they had not met face to face directly in any battle. Finn would not have been able to strike him down, had always aimed near by not close enough to hit Dane.
Other than the cheap shot that had knocked him unconscious before he'd woken up here, he was uninjured. His head still hurt from the blow, he suspected the hilt of a sword, but it had stopped bleeding before he was awake, though he could feel the tacky, dried blood in his hair still. Uncomfortable, but this was war - who was comfortable? The High Lords who sent their men to him to train and fight and die, perhaps. But the Lunare Prince had not known comfort in years, had been just as involved in the war as the soldiers he fought alongside.
So he could fly out of here, once he was out of this dungeon, back to his own camp. The war would continue. He doesn't even know… "You don't know anything?" A disappointing blow, because it is hard to discern his next move: does he go to his father before returning to his men, prevent him from making peace (or not - Finn is fairly sure his father would sacrifice him for the war effort, and Finn could not blame him for that).
And then, what about Dane?
"If they find out you freed me, what will they do? Is it worth it, Dane?" Finn keeps his eyes on the other Fae, watching his movements. Dane is determined to free him with what seems to be knife. Why had the Solari prince not swiped the keys? It was hardly his place to ask about such a minor detail, not while he was focused on Dane, on how different he looked. How good, annoyingly so. Even now, a prisoner of his father, the fate that Finn had spared Dane so many years prior, his mind first thinks of how fucking good Dane looks. Not that he can let him know that, though he's sure it's visible in his eyes, looking over Dane, his clothes, his wings, meeting his eyes when Dane looks to him. Fuck. Nothing has changed, no matter how many soldiers either of them had killed, had it? Not for Finn, at least.
Finn does move though, as Dane works on the cell door, to stand, shaky legs from being seated on the stone floor for so long. He walks over to stand near the cell door, hand resting on the bars nearby. "If it will be worse for you, then don't, Dane. If your father finds out you freed me. What will he do?" Considering Dane's father had not even considered his youngest son was in what would be enemy territory when attacking the Lunare in the first place? Finn had an idea, and he wouldn't be able to live with himself if Dane died for freeing him.
