gangsta. verse hc 2
As for how Reiner interacts with humans and twilights...
Hatred of twilights is often founded on the idea that theyāre different than humans. In truth, they really arenāt, barring physical illness and immune system fragility, and their excessive strength and speed. They are simply humans who experience greater highs and lows than other humans, although very few people admit it.
Reiner is, by quite deliberate design, superior to humans and twilights alike on every physical level. But he does not think this way. This is due, mostly, to the time he spent among humans as a child after escaping the facility where he was being molded into a weapon. He didnāt escape out of any particular frustration or fear--it was all he knew, so he didnāt think of his situation as cruel--but out of simple curiosity. From age eight to age fourteen, he lived alone, working odd jobs. He was eventually found and recaptured, whereupon he began to experience the life of being trained as a weapon much more brutal and unforgiving.
Despite his mission, Reiner holds no hatred of twilights. The āsuperhuman normalsā of the first, second, and third generation were raised to think that they were no different than humans, and it was twilights that were different. Reiner, however, was raised to think he was different from them both, only to find that this was not the case. Having accepted that on the levels that matter, he is human, he readily considers the innocence and sameness of twilights as well.
But it doesnāt mean he wonāt kill them, if the mission demands it.
