“ Chaotic good? Nah. Chaotic gay. ”
nate has his companion carry the single brain cell he has. then he goes full impulsive on everything that crosses his path.

Dogmeat had presently run off and was having the TIME OF HIS LIFE. His human was sleeping and the canine was SURE to remain within the boundries of Sanctuary. But today the trading caravans came through which meant all the new SMELLS and all the new PEOPLE [who would, undoubtedly pet him-- as he was the goodest boy around]. The canine was doing his zoomies around the camp, while his human began to stir from his slumber.
her sleeping schedule was erratic; getting used to a synth body was not an easy feat. curie was so used to being able to stay up all hours of the night in her robotic body, so having one that required rest was something she forgot until she woke up the next day at some odd hour on the couch.
this time it was rather early for once. rubbing sleep from her eyes, curie sat up from her makeshift bed on the ground and stepped outside, the pink on the horizon slowly spreading towards the twilight. it seemed like she wasn’t the only one awake.
“bon martin, monsieur chien!” curie greeted warmly, dropping to her knees and extending her arms as an invitation for dogmeat to run to her for as much petting as he could have ever wanted. it was not a cup of coffee, but curie appreciated this sort of wake up call, “are you having a good morning? i’m sure there are several exciting smells for you to process, yes? you’re so very cute!”
sent from @solesurviivor for curie! thank u for this it is... softe...
Dogmeat was absolutely eager for pets. He scampered over to the synth-- his tail wagging madly as he sat like the good boy he was. Yes. Pets. So many pets. His human DID give him sufficient pets, but it wasn’t something the canine would confess anytime soon. Oh no-- the more he gave people the sad eyes, the more pets he got. It was a win/win. Like chasing the thrown ball with no take. Nate soon emerged from the house he’d once called home-- he’d done his best to fix it up, but couldn’t bring himself to sleep anywhere else. He desperately wanted to repair the home to its former glory-- but insisted that all supplies be used to benefit others before himself.
“ Morning Curie-- how are you doing today? ” He inquired, kneeling down to give Dogmeat the attention he so richly craved. Now TWO people would be petting him.
BEST. DAY. EVER.

“Good. I don’t know why I…”
Oh. Ah. Clever.
Nick barely had time to drag a hand over his face before he jogged up to the edge of the roof and crouched down over it to peer down. Honestly, the synth wasn’t entirely sure if he was preferring to see Nate regretting it with a busted ankle, or if he was okay and didn’t learn his damn lesson.
Either way, he exchanged a pensive glance with Dogmeat.
“…You okay down there, Silver Shroud? Or should I bring the stimpaks.”
About halfway down he regretted his decision. Thankfully he was acrobatic enough to not be too injured. But he was hurt nonetheless. Nate let out a grunt as the brunt of his fall went up his legs. He wanted to show a brave face in front of Nick. He found the synth’s opinion to matter quite dearly to him.
“I’m fine!” He called back, leaning against the comic building for support. Nate closed his eyes for a few minutes, trying to will the pain away. He was a terribly stubborn sort of man. Besides-- stimpaks were best saved for his companions. For Dogmeat.
For Nick.
“ Just gimme a minute I’ll be-- hoo-- I’ll be fine. The Silver Shroud cannot be stopped that easily! ”
o-rusted-heart
Alright, maybe Nick paused at the word ‘handsome.’ He wasn’t used to compliments, and Nate seemed to know it.
Still, he had to roll his eyes at his new nickname. “Alright, wise guy. I guess we’re leaning fully into this hullabaloo. Maybe I can trust Dogmeat to at least have a sense of–”
“…Nate, please don’t jump off the roof.”
Nate wasn’t one for shameless flattery. He spoke his mind and was relatively straightforward. Nick was a good friend-- someone who mattered to him in ways he couldn’t quite quantify. The male stood on the edge of the roof, he could tell that his companion knew what he was thinking.
It wouldn’t be the first time he’d done it. Nate was agile but also clumsy-- and had missed quite a few jumps in the past, resulting in injuries that required a bit more attention than a stimpack could provide.
“ I won’t jump. ” He explained, calmly. Followed shortly by walking off the roof.
@o-rusted-heart
“ The Silver Shroud would be nothing without his handsome sidekick. “ Nate retorted with a grin. He was quick to make his way to the roof of the shop-- Dogmeat on his heels sporting a set of goggles. The Shroud was here to clean up crime.
He posed dramatically on the rooftop-- his coat flapping in the wind as he pulled out his sniper, peering through the scope to see if there were any evildooers about. Just down the road-- Ghouls.
Nate placed the weapon on his back, looking to Nick.
“ Come, oh Constable of Crime! We away! ”

Pause. That grin faded instantly. He stared down at his gun before looking up at him. Alright. Think, Flynn. This guy was starting to ask him more and more questions. He had begun to follow along, keeping his gun tightly gripped in his hand. . He knew he’d have to get his music ready soon as he sighed softly through his nose.
. . So, there was some kind of Fallout here, huh?
“. . Last thing I remember is. . Fighting demons. . Fought the Icon of Sin, but I must’ve. . stumbled through a portal, and found myself in the middle of nowhere. So they’re. . ghouls, not. . Possessed?”
Oh, god, Flynn had a feeling this was going to get confusing quickly. He knew he’d have to try to explain himself soon. .
“ That sounds like one hell of an experience. I’ve never seen any demons around here. I mean, there’s Deathclaws but I wouldn’t say they were demons. ” Was it possible this man came from another world? Nate was no stranger to science fiction-- it was his bread and butter before the war. He’d read plenty of stories featuring time travel-- or interstellar travel. In this world of post-nuke madness, where bottle caps were seen as currency, he found it somewhat believable.
“ No they’re-- Ghouls are people who survived the nuclear fallout. Most of them are still people but eventually their minds start to go and they run on instinct. We call them feral ghouls. ” Nate explained. Wrapping one’s head around the existence of the ‘living dead’ was a bit of a stretch. There were ghouls around that were from his time period.
“ They age slower but they look like--- well, you’ll see. ”

. . The Slayer cracked a little grin at the first part, “Guess I’ll make sure to help with those Ghouls.” He said, presuming that was what those. . Things, were looking like the zombies he’s seen. He had straightened up a little, getting his shotty into his hand, but had kept the safety on. He had paused a little at what he asked, though, causing his eyebrows to furrow in thought.
“Hmmn. .”
He let out a soft exhale through his nose as he thought, then shook his head.
“. . No, I haven’t. . Though, if you’d like, I could help with that, too. I. . I’ll be honest, I don’t exactly know where I am, but I’d like to help out where I can.”
He really wasn’t used to conversation like this, but he was determined to help this guy. After all, he wasn’t shot on sight– that was a plus!
“ You don’t know where you are? ” That was mildly concerning. Nate couldn’t deny the compulsion to help those in need. It was his nature-- it had been since his father had him join the scouts as a boy. If this man had no idea where he was-- Nate wanted to help him find out.
“ Your armor doesn’t look like anything I’ve seen before-- and I’m from before the bombs fell. ” He mulled things over for a few moments, already putting that sharp mind of his to use. He could walk and talk-- he’d always been proficient at multitasking.
“ What’s the last thing you remember? ” He inquired as he led the way to the cave where the ghoul activity had been reported. Dogmeat followed in step with him before running ahead a bit to make certain things were safe for his human and new friend.

instantly seeing a post about the silver shroud and literally laughed so fucking hard at it
my instant thought process:
let them be stupid heroes together. LET FLYNN BE AS LAME AS NICK.
whoever ends up romancing this poor man is going to have to deal with occasional missions where he completely strips down and then throws on the silver shroud costume. bonus: he also talks in his ‘hero voice’
nate has an ass you could bounce a quarter off of.

He cocked a brow at that, making sure to take this info all in. He’d have to get used to this place, then. Though, hearing about the Brotherhood of Steel made him huff a slight laugh, breaking his serious visage for a moment, “Heh. I don’t think I’ve run into them, but I’ll make sure to keep a lookout. . Nice to meet someone else with some military experience, though.”
He had tucked the stimpack into a small bag he had found– nothing big, but might as well keep it for supplies.
“. . So, where’re you headed, Nate?” He soon inquired, curious about the man he’s run into in this place. “I can probably help, to pay you back for the stimpack, but I won’t force you to have me tag along.”
Admittedly, Flynn wasn’t exactly all that used to actually tagging along with someone, but he knew he needed to learn about this place more. He’d might as well go with the guy that seemed pretty friendly right about now, nice enough to tell him his name and not shoot at him.
“ Now that you mention it-- I could use some help. One of the nearby settlements is having a tough time with a band of feral Ghouls. I’ve offered to clear them out-- but if you assist we’ll get done faster than anticipated. ” He put his hands on his hips in the most fatherly pose. “ I’m ashamed to admit I’ve been running myself ragged lately. All over the Commonwealth. ”
Dogmeat gave a canine huff of agreement. Human was pushing himself too hard. He needed more sleep. And to give Dogmeat more headpats for being the goodest boy. “ Then I’ll get back on my search. You uh-- haven’t happened to have seen a scarred bald man with an infant running around, have you? I-- I’m trying to get something back that was stolen from me. ” He didn’t want to bring up Shaun by name-- the memory was still fresh and thinking about it made his chest feel tight. Nate hadn’t felt a panic attack since shortly after the war. He’d been trained to process that trauma. But losing his wife and son was a level of pain no one could prepare for.

Flynn stared in silence at the offer, focused on the stimpack before carefully taking it into his hands. He honestly couldn’t tell where he was– this was Earth, right? Yeah, it had to be. . What the hell happened here? God, he’ll have to figure out later. He had just been quiet, as if having to take a second or more to process what this survivor was saying.
Nate. Huh. Nice name, he thought, sweet and simple.
“. . Flynn Blazkowicz. I used to be in the marines. .” Not the best of memories, but if it helped a little to form some trust, he’d might as well give a bit of info about himself.
“. . This suit’s saved my ass a lot, honestly.” He then said, but then his eyes settled on Dogmeat. Aw, hell. . a dog! Cute thing, too.
“. . Don’t mean to scare the poor thing. I’ve been fighting a helluva lot.”
“ Marines? ” He hadn’t heard that word in a long time. He pointed at himself. “ Army. 108th Infantry. ” Dogmeat gave a bark at that-- wagging his tail as he looked up at his human. “ And I’m currently with the Minutemen. They call me General-- but it was a title thrust upon me. ” He had earned it though.
Together, he and Dogmeat helped so many people. They gathered supplies-- bolstered defenses-- made things safer throughout the Commonwealth.
“ Dogmeat is just-- protective. He’s a sweetheart. ” Crouching down, he gave the animal a scratch. The dog’s tail went wild in response. He LOVED pets from his human. “ He’s wary of folks in power suits. Most folks who wear them tend to try and kill us. Brotherhood of Steel. They’re kind of a bunch of dicks. ”
@unchainedpredatcr sc
“ Nate. This is Dogmeat. You alright? ” The shotgun was put away as he fetched something from a pouch on his belt-- a stimpack. Nate offered it to the armored stranger. Dogmeat didn’t seem to detect any other nearby enemies-- but he was wary of this human. They smelled like blood and terror. He remained at Nate’s side.
“ That’s one hell of a power armor suit. Haven’t seen them since the war. ”
@8thcourier sc
“ You’re safe here in Sanctuary-- so long as you contribute, you can enjoy the spoils. Tell me where your strong suits lie and we’ll figure something out. ”
