As usual my duties keep me quite busy, but I do have an update for you.

The plans and construction now finalized, a new ship is ready to set sail on a journey of knowledge, both seeking and sharing. A joint venture between Equestria and its allies, MLS Friend will be crewed by different types of ponies, as well as yaks, dragons, hippogriffs and changelings, who will work together to seek out regions we know little of and find new friends.

I had initially wanted to call it MLS Friendship, but Pinkie Pie disagreed, as I recall she said something like “But Twilight, it’s already a ship, then it would be friendshipship! Friendshipshipship? Where does it end?” Still, Friend is a good name (and certainly preferable to Pinkie Pie’s other suggestion).

Regardless, I look forward to reports of their findings. Though even if the outcome isn’t quite what we hope, the undertaking itself is symbolic. It represents another step towards a world in which all creatures can share mutual respect and work towards a better future, together.

Hi Twilight! While expanding friendship is generally good, I think that we should be more cautious. The MLS Friend could easily attract unwanted attention or expose equestria to threats it isn't ready to face yet. Threats doesn't just mean villains or monsters, but also new illnesses or dangerous magic (stuff we can't just rainbow blast away). Wouldn't it be better to send a few expeditions out first before such a grand gesture?

I’m not sure what you think the purpose of this journey is if you do not consider it an expedition. Furthermore, I for one can’t think of a better crew to sent into the unknown than a diverse one based on friendship, working together to combine their different strengths.

There will always be dangers, but the alternative to facing them would be to hide away, to live in fear and isolation, and that’s not the kind of future I wish to build.
