yandere dragon!Nicholas x reader
You were resting in the huge lily pad that has been serving as your bed for a few weeks now. Well, you didn’t know actually if it was weeks, for all you could not realize it can be months or days or years since you’ve gone missing from the world and have been kept here in the enchanted lake, at the heart of the forest.
You then hear the leaves crunching and trees being rustled, unusually, as if their noises were deliberate and intentional. You sit up suddenly alarmed by the unfamiliar whispers of the bushes but then you felt cold scales flinch around you, and you stiffen.
“Whats wrong?” Nicholas’ raspy voice reaches your ears an he tightens his body around you even more as he feels you tense up even more.
“There was bustling in the trees.” You point out. “I think there’s someone’s here weno” you whisper to him wearily, your eyes never leaving the forest line.
“It’s probably just a bunny or a deer drinking from the lake baobei, go back to bed.” he grumbles as he closes his eyes again wanting to return back to his sleep.
You wanted to believe, you really did but there was just an unusual pit or knot on your stomach that made you uneasy about the noise. So you kept persisting.
“I wanna take a look for myself, weno. I feel uneasy if I don’t” you plead softly. Deciding your comfort comes first Nicholas releases his hold on you and let you leave the lily pad.
You jump over the hedge of the lily pad that was tall enough to cover you when you’re lying down. You land on the lake where the water was cool but not shivering cold. The water lilies that Nicholas had planted for you, makes a little path for you towards the shallow end.
The water was so clear that you could see how your feet rested on the rocks that glittered beneath the moonlight. The water went from your lower thigh to your ankles as you inched closer towards the shallow end, near the forest line. You look closer but never really stepping out of the lake, you try to make out the shadows that hid in the sea of trees. You were just about to turn your back when the rustling of the leaves grew restless.
You took a step back as it was getting closer and closer. You stood there frozen, you wanted to call Nicholas but at the same time there was a tiny hope in your heart that maybe this. This could finally be your escape.
Then two men scrambled their way out of the tree line. You took another step back at the sudden visitors, you were scared, but not because of them, but because of the sleeping dragon in lily pad who was just a few feet away from where you stood. Now, you really wanted to call Nicholas but nothing came out of your mouth, it was as if someone is trying to force your voice down.
One of the two men, sets his eyes on you. His eyes were unreadable but you saw a glint of desire shine within the man’s eyes. You wanted to run back to the lily pad, where Nicholas was but you were afraid that these men might chase you. You’re not really a fast runner, whether on land or on water.
“Hi..” the man greets but you don’t answer him, instead, you looked at him with cautious eyes, watching his every move like a hawk. You squint your eye at every movement he does and you step back every time he tries to come near you.
“Are you lost? Do you– uhm need help? We can help you.” He stammers, stepping closer to you. “Just let us. We won’t hurt you.” He offers his hand as his feet began to touch the lake.
You let out a sharp gasp, “Dont.” You firmly say as you put out your hand out to keep the distance.
But the man was persistent and both of his ankles were now completely in the lake. “It’s fine we won’t hurt you. Just let us help you”. You look at the man’s friend as he stayed back in the land while he’s friend was trying to get you. Your heart beat quickened as he was getting closer towards you.
“Weno.” You whisper under your breath in a panic.
Right as you whisper his name, blue iridescent scales appear beneath the water, wraps itself around you, protectively. It slowly rises up from the water revealing its true beautiful yet terrifying form as an ancient dragon that was the guardian of the lake. The dragon huffs and growls, his aura glowing as if he was the moonlight itself, his iridescent scales glowing different shades of blues and violets that reflected the lake. Water still dripping from its body as he bares his teeth towards the new visitors.
Nicholas’ dragon form was nothing new to you but him in this state will never not mesmerize you from his beauty. He looked so majestic. So ancient. He looked like a someone who was worthy or worship and devotion. The dragon makes a deep rumbling sound before a deep booming voice echoes through the loom of the lake.
“What kind of desperation brings you here, seeker?” The dragon sneered.
The man stands up straight to look mighty infront of Nicholas you knew that it was worthless. There had been so many that came before him and have been unsuccessful to receive the dragon’s good graces. You could almost scoff at his efforts but then again hope is truly one of the things that amazes you when given to humanity.
The man gulps before answering, “I- I don’t wish for anything materialistic but a wish more than about guidance and knowledge.” He stammers.
“And why would I grant you that wish?” Nicholas asks.
“Because I am worthy.” The man confidently states.
“How so..?” The mere audacity piques Nicholas’ interest.
“I-I can prove it to you by laying my mind bare for you..” The man states.
“but..” The continuation makes Nicholas’ ears perk up.
“Just for that, I also want them as a prize.” The man gestures to you.
Nicholas’s serpentine body wraps tighter around you, making you sit at a bundle of his slithered body.
“Why should I give them to you? A mere human?” Nicholas questions with so much disdain dripping from his voice.
“Because we are both humans. I know what they need and want. They deserve to be with other humans. Not trapped here and treated like a trophy.” The man states so righteously and convinced that he was worthy of you.
Nicholas then laughs. A loud boisterous, arrogant laugh. “You? A mere mortal? Be worthy of them?” He laughs again. “By the gods you’re an even bigger fool than I thought.”
“You come here in my lake, demand a wish and my treasure because you’re ‘worthy?’” Nicholas pointed out. “You would make a good jester”
“You think you’re worthy just because you have dedicated your life to serve and serve other people, to smile and help without being asked but deep down your heart, you hated it. You loathed it. You despised every second of it. And now you think you’re still worthy when there’s so much resentment built in your heart?” Nicholas says knowingly.
“You still think you are entitled to my treasure and wish? Let’s all mention at the first sight of my treasure you wanted to do unspeakable things to them as a sake of being the same species when you are not even on their level of importance.” Nicholas’ voice was filled with condescension and anger.
He unwraps himself around you and speeds towards the man and wraps his body around him. He then raises him up to his eye level as his body tightens and begins to strangle the man.
“Now tell me, dear seeker, do you still think you are worthy?” Nicholas’ voice dangerously low.
The man couldn’t answer by how much Nicholas was strangling him, but he still managed a nod. The dragon then flew with the man still held by him. He flew up from the river to the moon. His scaled serpentine body shaped the pale moon perfectly and it caught your breath from how much graceful and ethereal he stays even with when he’s being murderous. He flew back down to the depths river with the man’s screaming echoing throughout the lagoon, before it cuts off as the man explodes into glowing, glittering particles of the lake. Adding another divine and unworldly look to the lake.
You saw Nicholas return from the depths of lake and transform into his half dragon half human form. You feel the cold and damp scale touch your skin as your whole body shivered at the dragon’s cold breath hover your nape. Nicholas’s sharp claws dig in into your curves while his tail wraps possessively around your leg as he spreads it wider.
“Look how responsive your body is when it comes to me,” he whispers into your ear, “look at your reflection in the water baobei.” His hands slowly guide your face to look at your reflection. “See how these stones that glitter under the moonlight, this shimmering lake that grants you every wish, these pearls that were my tears that cost a fortune,” he says as he trails kisses from your shoulder blades to the back of your ear.
“They all pale compared to you.” He states. “These are nothing compared to you.” He lowly mumbles. He turns you around slowly to face him. Now face to face with Nicholas, you look into his eyes and see the familiar red fire of passion and devotion that burns in his eyes.
“I was put in this earth to guard this place. A treasure put by the gods to reward anyone who seeks it. But over the time mankind has grown greedy, and they put me to judge the seekers who came to find this place. To judge if they were truly worthy of such treasures,” he says lowly, noticing the eye contact, he guides your hand to his lips and kisses your palm.
“But the truth is, they all failed to see the one true treasure of them all,” he whispers to your wrist and puts your hands on his shoulder. He looks into your eyes once more as your hand finds its way to his hair, and Nicholas nuzzles to the touch.
“You’re the one true treasure that I’m protecting.” He whispers it like a vow. “Cherishing.” He pairs with a peck on the corner of your lips. “Nurturing.” Another peck. “Admiring.” peck. “Revering.” peck. “And Loving.” He then seals it with a kiss as he swears it like a promise.
“I’ll make sure that no one will take you away from me. No one.” His voice quiet and soft but he said in as if it was already set in stone. Nicholas’ serpentine like body then covers you protectively, hiding you from the world because no one other than him deserves to see your beauty and to be in your presence that he considers that is worth any wish or treasure that surrounded the both of you.
You took one last peek at the forest line in search of the man’s friend, but he was nowhere to be seen. He probably ran as soon as he saw his friend get strangled by the dragon. He probably retreated back to his village to tell the town’s folk about the dragon and his most precious, treasure.
