Black and Blue and Red
A quiet groan from a corner of the cave signaled Roxy’s wakefulness. One eye cracking open, she turned her head towards the entrance to the cave, only to immediately turn back, another, louder groan escaping her. It was bright out. Too bright. That meant she’d spent the night in Sollux and Jadesprite’s cave again. Whoops. That would certainly bring questions from the Amporas back home. Ah, well. She supposed it didn’t matter, and she smelled food, anyway. Pulling herself into a sitting position, she faced away from the entryway into the cave while she attempted to sort out the tangled mess that was her hair. It hardly took a minute to give up, call it close enough, and rub her eyes, blinking several times. The light was bound to give her sensitive eyes a run for their money, if she wasn’t careful. Finally, she turned around to face Sollux’s direction, blinking rapidly for another second as even more light assaulted her retinas. In total, it was less than two minutes before she was up and on her way over to him. “Mornin’,” she murmured, followed by a yawn.
Turning to face her, he was stunned for a moment by her ethereal beauty. The fierce light streaming in through the cave entrance highlighted her loose strands of blond hair, dying them golden, a lazy halo to accentuate her angelical presence. Or maybe that was just the redrom speaking? Who knows.
Secretly, Sollux wished every morning could be like this. Unfortunately, she had boarding with her deranged ex and the man who had threatened the Mage with a rather long spiel that he never really read. That thought always made him shake his head. Though he didn't approve of the company she kept, he appreciated the time she spent here anyways.
He chuckled when she addressed him, sighing contentedly. "Good morning, my dear. Thought I'd get a head start on the day with a breakfast I think you might've enjoyed back on Earth?" He gestured into the pan, hoping she'd recognize exactly what it was, not able to remember the name himself.
