EDIT: Just so you guys know, Good&Co is actually a really great app/company. They helped me figure out my interests and get placed with a job that I actually like. A TRANS WOMAN NEEDS HELP WITH CHANGING HER LEGAL NAME AND GENDER!!

as most of you know, my name is joan, and i’m a trans woman filmmaker in the bay area. in light of the recent election, i have decided to move forward with officially changing my legal name and gender!

but i need help to do it. in the city of san francisco, it costs $450 dollars to file the necessary paperwork to change my name and gender. this is $450 more dollars than i currently have.

please help me to finally begin moving forward with my life and my transition! as a trans woman, i face constant misgendering and suspicion (and lose employment opportunities) because my paperwork doesn’t match my presentation and lived experience. and i graduate college in the spring and would love to be able to do so with my actual name, not a name i haven’t gone by in over 4 years.
