"Why?" Deep blues narrow, teeth grit passed bright red lips. It's almost frustrating. The idea of having put so much work and effort into saving these people. Only to immediately feel like he was going to take it all and push her out because she wasn't worthy-- At least that's what it felt like. If she supplanted her feelings towards her father onto this.... Version? Of him. "You take anonymous tips now? Sorry. This is my case."

Her case? It seems she really doesn't know how things work in Gotham. Vigilantes are allowed to roam the streets with his permission, and this caped kid certainly has nothing of the sort. "You tell me what you know or I put a stop to your little nighttime escapade. End of discussion."

"Yeah yeah. I've heard it all before. 'She's my city, and I can't have the reckless and untrained endangering her safety.' And every variation there in. Sorry but you don't have the right sort of equipment. To do the work I've been doing." Hel remembers the barking of her father at anyone else who dared show their face in his city. But this is a job she's more than familiar with, scumbags she knows how to better deal with than a blunt fist. "So, you gonna try and fight me for it? Or are you gonna put your ego aside like Alfred tried to teach you and just let sleeping dogs lie?"

The heiress keeps her feet planted, while the other rushes off. Something odd about being displaced like this. Fish out of water, wearing a costume that didn’t belong to her here, carrying a name that sounded borrowed when spoken aloud. All alone– Except for right now with this semblance of a sibling– “Oh my god. That is without a doubt the gaudiest thing I have ever seen in my entire life.”

That was saying something, she lived in the manor, the only born child of a billionaire, the only one young enough to live at home, she’d seen just about every manner of bat-toy that can be imagined. “He was a complex guy. More than just the sort of clown that he looks like he can be. Smart as a tack, sharp as a dagger. That was my dad.” Not to overthink or get misty eyed, so she clenches her jaw, keeps the smile warm.

    “it’s AWFUL, right?! I had to wear this every birthday until I turned 14 and told her I didn’t wanna anymore.” It, and the tiara, were now on a royal bust on her makeup vanity. Taking seat on an actual couch, she listened intently to the description of a version of a man she’d never know.

  Layered, strong, brilliant. Sounded like constants, rather than variables. “He is, anywhere he is, one of the best to ever do it. He’s terrifying here, but he’s… Hey.” The descriptor she’s formulating escapes her as she rises back to her feet, clearing space between the pair swiftly. She half-recognized the chosen look on Helena’s face. She’d seen shades of it in her own mirror.

    “Don’t stab me.” All the pre-warning necessary, she felt, as she held her arms out and moved to take her sister in to a hug.

For a brief moment, Hel is lost in pensive thought, memories of her father before he died. Going the way of the costumed vigilante, proudly in the line of duty and unflinching towards what he knew was coming. But they saved the world, heroes. The Justice League. She half curdles herself at the thought-- He was a hero but she never got to say goodbye-- Not in a way that was meaningful.

But she doesn't get to relish or dwell on these thoughts and poisonous feelings for too long because before she can react there's arms swept around her. Helena goes rigid, she's never been much of a... touchy feely type. Her features show it, the way her brow creases and her lips purse.

"So--" She tries to deflect without worming her way out, just yet. "Do you moonlight as a criminal or vigilante then? It seems that's as much a universal constant--"

“Oh yeah! He rehearsed all the time when the Justice League was still a thing. Taught me how he disappears when everyone’s distracted–” It was far less impressive when people were looking. It was the superhero equivalent of pointing and saying ‘over there!’ and then running away. All the theatrics and panache stripped away and he would have just been a guy who knew martial arts punching criminals at night, after all. “God did she ever call you kitten? That and other cat puns almost made me a dog person–” She missed her mom though. “I stabbed him there too! Right between the plates!” She’s almost as amused about the both of them stabbing her father as she is about talking about mom and the cat puns. “He showed me too, and then he took me to the batcave and told me all about Batman. Still bleeding.”

“The disappearing! No way, that’s a thing he can teach? I thought that was a super-power!” She’d only been there for it in person once, but the amount of times everyone else talks about it? How else could he be all over Gotham so quickly? She was learning a lot here. “She stills call me kitten, sis- Oh, wait! Wait, wait right here.” Scrambling to move, she quickly shuffled beyond a grand piano and down a hallway. Not a minute later, she’s back in front of Helena, holding up a personalized necklace that read ‘KITTEN’ in lustrous black diamonds.

 “She brought me this for my ninth birthday. I have a matching cat ear tiara too.”  The ‘Princess of Park Row’ and all that might have some truth to it. “Sorta the same for me, actually. I don’t think I got ‘all’ about Batman, but I did get some of it. ‘…Superstitious and Cowardly lot’, he said. I understood the ‘bat’ thing a little better after that.”
