DEMON SLAYER: INFINITY CASTLE (2025)
Anime I've Watched
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle I
Synopsis: Tanjiro Kamado and the Demon Slayer Corps confront Muzan Kibutsuji in his stronghold, the Infinity Castle.
Status: Completed
My Rating: 8.5/10
Why does every popular anime have to be made into movies? If a manga is made into an anime I want it to stay as a series, not switch over to movies as soon as they get popular enough.
Ignoring issues like access, a series like this just works better in the multi episode format. One big con was the pacing. It didn't flow and just felt like snippets of episodes stuck together.
Another issue is the background animation. Much of the time it's jarring and too realistic (is that the word i'm looking for?). I like the art style of Demon Slayer, I thought it was especially well done in the first season with how the characters and backgrounds looked together, though I will admit I might not be remembering the first season too clearly... it's been ages since I watched it. I believe I had a similar complaint with the previous movie as well. It's just too polished? It looks cool sure but like the issue with pacing it kind of broke the flow.
That being said obviously the fights were cool despite my issues with it... I just wish they were doing a little less I suppose.
One final irritation I had was the music... you know that noise they use in intense scenes, that really low like pulsing noise (can you tell I have very little knowledge about music?) that's absolutely deafening in movie theatres and even worse when you're trying to watch something on your laptop or TV? Yeah... they really overused that during fight scenes and I hated it. The rest of the music I really enjoyed, it fit the vibe of this particular anime but that low noise just pissed me off. I had to keep adjusting the volume when they switched between fight scenes and dialogue which is one of my biggest pet peeves with any movie that over utilizes that particular noise.
Overall I did enjoy it and i'd say fans of the series will enjoy this continuation even if they, like me have a few issues with the entire thing. My absolute favourite part of the film were the last 30 minutes or so where they focused on Akaza's backstory. The background, animation and characters all meshed a bit better and it was just plain good story telling... though not the strongest way to end a movie I will admit.
As you can see i'm struggling to put my exact issues into words and probably flubbed it a bit... what did you all think?

Tamon's B-Side (Tamon-kun Ima Docchi!?):
Synopsis: Seventeen-year-old Utage Kinoshita lives and breathes for her favorite idol group, F/ACEâbut the group's center, Tamon Fukuhara, occupies a special place in her heart. Every waking moment Utage dedicates to the thoughts of the wild and sexy Tamon, even taking on a part-time housecleaning job just to afford her fangirl lifestyle.
What was supposed to be an ordinary job turns out to be anything but when Utage realizes she is cleaning the apartment of the very idol she so fervently admires! But adding to the surprise, Tamon is nothing like his on-stage persona; he suffers from severe anxiety and painfully low self-esteem. Keenly aware of the gap between their worlds, Utage cannot bear to see Tamon so depressed and decides to support him the best she can as his housekeeper.
As time passes, Utage becomes more and more privy to the aspects of Tamon's life he reveals to nobody else. And the bond that forms between them soon leaves Utage wondering if she has accidentally crossed the sacred line between fan and idol.

Gloomyhara is life. All of the characters are enjoyable and I especially enjoy F/ACE's B-Sides. As is usual with most anime that involve an idol group (in my experience at least) the performance animation is a bit jarring. It isn't so bad in this one but there is still a clear difference between the art style and animation throughout the series and the art style and animation during the performances. Not a deal breaker but a bit irritating.
Overall I enjoyed this show! It's enjoyable, light and nice to look at. I would happily watch a second season.

Season 2 picks up right where the previous season left off and overall it's a pretty solid season. It stays faithful to the source material which is great but also presents a bit of an issue with pacing. Honestly I was a little disappointed that they didn't cover the remainder of the story in this season. If they'd made it a little bit longer and condensed a wee bit I feel like it would have flowed a bit better in the anime format and we wouldn't be stuck waiting around for the third season.
Another issue I have with this particular anime is the censoring. Just show the nipple, there's already a ton of violence and body horror type gore... just show it. I probably wouldn't even give the nudity a second thought if they just included the nipples, like the nudity would just be background noise in a sense but because they don't it's all I can focus on in those scenes and it really takes me out of it.
That being said as a fan of the manga it's still an absolute treat to see it animated and this season was far more good than my few irritations with the choices made. I look forward to seeing the remainder of the story animated!

Another perfect season. Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is an absolute delight and may be one of my all time favourite animes. The atmosphere, the characters, the pacing and the story are perfect. A single episode relaxes me more than any sort of deep breathing exercise ever could. My only real complaint about this season is how short it is. 10 episodes isn't nearly enough to spend with these character!
