Sayama Forest Chapel Hiroshi Nakamura & NAP
The chapel sits on the boundary between the forest and the grave area at top of the hill road in the verdant cemetery park. We focus on creating an architecture that offers a space where people are benevolently watched by the forest, looking up the forest and remember the feeling of reverence for the departed in an eternal sleep in the forest of Sayama. A series of 9 meters height wooden pillars with 60mm flat section is placed between the surrounding trees provides a space to pray under the forest.

Mountain View Double Gable Eichler Remodel
San Francisco-based Klopf Architecture has remodeled a house built by Joseph Eichler, the post-war real estate developer who helped introduce modern housing estates to America. Built in the 1960s, the updated mid-century modern residence is located in the Silicon Valley town of Mountain View. It’s one of thousands of middle-class dwellings built by Eichler between 1949 and 1966 – homes often referred to as Eichlers.
Klopf Architecture, a San Francisco-based studio, has deep experience with the noted dwellings. “We have worked on over 100 Eichler homes, ranging from small remodels to complete guts and significant additions,” said John Klopf, the firm’s founding principal.

Dotted
Artist Yoni Alter has created a collection of colorful GIFs where hidden animals emerge from a splattering of abstract dots. ostriches, monkeys, kangaroos and foxes alike sprint out of obscurity in a series of colorful motions, and just as quickly deteriorate into a mess of jumbled hues.

Collaborating with local architects and utilizing local materials to design the pavilions the various architecture firms worked with Austria’s Verein Kultur Krumbach to carry out the BUS:STOP project and usher in a unique new facet of culture to Krumbach.
Hufton + Crow has just released a stunning new set of images showcasing the completed bus stops. Hufton + Crow’s brilliant photography captures the inimitable originality and sensational quality of the uniquely crafted pavilions embedded within the Austrian landscape.

Reflected Models by Takahiro Iwasaki
Takahiro Iwasaki (岩崎 貴宏, born 1975 in Hiroshima) is a Japanese artist and sculptor. This post groups some of our favorites works of this series where the artist creates a detailed model of a temple and also builds a mirror image model creating the illusion of a reflection on water. When suspended the sculptures become something magical and awe inspiring.

Scholar’s Library GLUCK+
A pure and elegant Platonic cube here matches the unity of the building’s purpose and form, in both programmatic and metaphorical terms. The first floor is completely closed and contains stacks for a library of books. The second floor, which is entirely open, is a scholar’s working study. The study sits on the books below much like scholarship rests on the body of work that precedes it.
