The small, prickly looking creature was almost tread beneath the android’s foot, and if it wasn’t for her Pod, the poor thing might have been crushed entirely. 2B looked down at the small animal, lips tilted in a slight frown. It almost seemed to be nagging at her, both of its front legs tapping on her boot. Whatever it was, it certainly didn’t seem happy.
“Pod, what is this creature?” 2B asked, reaching down and picking the creature up in both of her gloved hands. It seemed to dislike that even more, wriggling and fighting against her hold, but she kept it there. Her hold was gently still.
“The creature is known as a ‘hedgehog’, a small mammal often kept as pets by humans. Perhaps it is a lost pet of a citizen.” 2B sighed at the Pod’s response, looking up and around. The surrounding crowd seemed indifferent to both her and the hedgehog.
“And how am I supposed to do that…”
“Proposal: Ask the surrounding citizens for more information.”
“What a pain…” She was starting to feel like an errand android again.
Witches and their familiars should, at all times, stay within eyesight of each other. Felyn understood that. Ul’trinar did not. The small hedgehog was prone to wandering off. When they lived in the woods, the worst thing she could fear for him was a rare predator. Nothing so dangerous as to get through the warding spells Felyn had covered him with.
Here, however, there were much worse threats. Namely, feet. By labeling Ul’trinar as her home, she had made her ‘home’ undetectable in the eyes of any outsiders. That normally kept him safe, but here, that was a bigger risk. Even a witch of her caliber, though, could not stand up to the magic resistance of a Saber. Unfortunately, Felyn was also prone to falling under that spell when she wasn’t paying attention.
Felyn’mice didn’t even realize her little friend was missing until a while after he’d crept off. She had gone out and gotten one of his favourite snacks, only to realize he had not responded to her in the last little while.
“O-oh bother...”
Lucky for her, the hedgehog was clever enough to go to the one person who would likely notice him. He wasn’t hurt, though, that much Felyn could tell. She’d feel it as if it was her own pain. Still, he could be, and she couldn’t communicate with him from this distance. After stealing, by mistake since she still wasn’t used to this ‘paying for stuff’ nonsense, his snacks, she made her way outside and began searching under table.
“If you’re hiding in the bushes again, you are losing all hood privileges, little mister!”
