The 4th is canceled. There is nothing to celebrate about America this year. There are kids still in cages and Black people being murdered by the police. And Vanessa Guillen, a soldier who had told relatives she was sexually harassed by two army sergeants, went missing from the Fort Hood army post. She didn’t report the sexual harassment out of fear of retaliation. Two months later it is believed that her remains were found in a shallow grave during a search for her. She was killed by the same people who were meant to protect her...a fellow soldier at Fort Hood. Even when the army knew about her disappearance in April they did nothing to try and look for her. Land of the free, and home of the brave? Bitch, where? Maybe if you’re white. That’s when this country actually gives a damn about you. Oh and let’s not forget that there’s still a pandemic that’s roaring through this country. Just stay home, there’s nothing to celebrate.
