WHO SAID THAT?
On a Malevolent roll right now maybe I'll even Finally catch up on S6 who knows! Anyway have a selection of the boys.
More Crestfallens :)
one of the funniest things that happens regularly on the malevolent podcast is:
"yeah I did all that. I killed those people. I tried to kill even more people. (soft piano music) I have a lot to learn. (even softer piano music) (forgiveness)"
How Cinderella Boy characters act when getting a wisdom tooth removed
this totally isn't me coping with my own pain
Chase:
Is a crybaby about it before hand, ends up not being as bad as he thought
Exaggerates the pain just so he'll get pampered (but only for the first five minutes)
Then he has dance practice and suddenly insists he's fine and that he can go "it doesn't even hurt that much"
He actually has a massive headache
Needs supervision at all times to make sure he won't get up
"I already took my pain killers, it's fine now"
The entire time he's holding an icepack to his face, demonstrating that it is, in fact, not fine
Deacon:
Really nervous at first but tries to be optimistic
Unbearable pain, like three day fever type of pain
The painkillers don't help him much
"Just my luck" he thinks
His father had to get him some stronger painkillers to see if that would work
They do but they knock him out basically
It gets infected
Buddy:
Didn't think it would hurt at all but it actually does
Tries to act as if it doesn't hurt that much
"Pain killers? What are those? I don't need them"
Actually takes the pain killers after some convincing from Chase
Ends up accepting all the help he's offered because he's a big softie and an attention seeker
He breaks down in the end because he isn't used to so much care from other humans yet
Prunella:
Shows you the tooth
Pulled it out herself
It's a baby tooth
"But this one's cool, you see? It's a canine!"
Wave:
Did not get any tooth removed
He's faking it to get your sympathy
They’re not lovers. They’re not family. They’re not really particularly friends. They fight constantly, bicker over the smallest of things, but they have never been more effective and competent in their lives than when they are working together as a team. They are an unstoppable commander and her stalwart communications officer. When she comes close to losing herself in rage and bitterness and desperation, he is the one who can tell her, from hard-won experience, please. Don’t do this. You wouldn’t be able to undo it. You won’t be able to forgive yourself. When he is being stupid and short-sighted and taking easy, selfish path because he doesn’t really believe he can be anything other than what he is, she’s the one who calls him out. Check your privilege, shut up and listen, be better. When she is stripped of her title, by defeat or by choice, he will call no one but her commander anyway. When he is panicking it is her voice his mind uses to tell him to calm down and think things through. They would die for each other, and they look at the end of everything head on and sing Le Mis together
in defense of doug eiffel, he was literally on the hephaestus on remand, he was doing penal labor, he did not want to be there and any vague illusion of him having a choice in the matter was cancelled out by cutter threatening his daughter to get him to comply. in offense of doug eiffel, hera was also there as forced labor and she only fucked around maybe 30% as much.
listening to tma season 1 is fun because I feel like every episode so far is just like
statement of such and such regarding whatever. audio recording by jonathan sims, head archivist of the magnus institute, london. statement begins.
you have to understand this vital piece of information that provides context on why this situation is so weird. here's some background about me. sorry, I'm distracted. the story actually starts when I moved to this house/met this person/found an object/was talking a walk. I saw a figure/felt something weird. the whole thing was...off. the soundtrack is going to get louder while I focus on a detail. it turns out this detail doesn't matter. I don't know what time it was/I don't know how long it took me. something smelled bad. new detail...soundtrack gets louder...and louder...culminating event. then I went home and was scared. but one thing extra that sheds more context and adds another level of freaky stuff...
statement ends.
all of that was complete and utter bullshit, but I did have everyone do some research. sasha found some actually good information. tim made googoo eyes at some secretaries which let him find out more stuff. martin didn't do anything because martin is a loser who never does his job. I thought that one thing in particular was very odd...
recording ends.
I think Tim and Martin's friendship is really underrated in TMA.
Martin didn't even tell Jon about his CV at this point despite having a massive crush on him. And yes, Jon was his boss so there was a risk there, but counterpoint, Tim could have also easily told Jon if he was enough of a snitch, so telling him indicates a massive level of trust. Especially considering that Sasha only found out through poking through their system. He didn't tell her either.
I think another really great moment that shows in their friendship is in "Hide And Seek." Tim is completely willing to leave Jon in the terrifying murder tunnels when he see's Not! Sasha goes down there, but once Martin says he's going, Tim relents and follows after him, explicitly because he can't leave him.
I think their friendship is extremely important for both characters, but also really tragic in the way it defines their character development. Neither Tim or Martin are nearly as alone as they think they are, but they get so caught in their own head (Tim and his anger at Jon, plus his grief for Danny and Sasha.) (Martin and his love for Jon, plus his self-worth issues.) that neither one of them really rely on each other despite the fact that they obviously both care.
I would apologize for turning a cute friendship post about angst character analysis, but unfortunately for the mental health of all of us who love the series, most character analysis just tend to drift in that direction.

I keep seeing people joking about how Gerry straight up doesn't read anything because of the Leitners and my brain keeps making it worse and worse lmao
Recipe books? Hell no, thats dangerous. If he needs to cook, he just freehands that shit. Do not trust his baking. Maps? Too many little words. They could lead him anywhere. Noo, he just takes a compass and uses the stars. He'll figure it out eventually. Britain isn't thatt big. He hasn't read a thing since he was 10. His hair dye's so bad because he refuses to read the instructions on the bottle. He knows nothing that isn't said out loud. You never know where a Leitner could be hiding. Cant get him if he just refuses to read a word.
