I never got into ldr because all her good songs still manage to outstay their welcome but i do have to give her credit where it’s due in a year of awful news her insane beef with ethel cain was a moment of respite that shows why we have celebrity culture… when it’s good nothing hits quite like celeb gossip. like most ‘beef’ these days is so manufactured or obviously played out… wow i can’t believe “they say we’ve got the same hair” wasn’t a sincere lorde diss and was actually an elaborate setup for a hype cycle extending feat remix! and don’t get me started on kendrick using the platform of the superbowl to relitigate a beef he was already the definitive victor in and pusha t already did it better (in 2018!!)… embarrassing!

but the combination of obvious, sincere seething jealousy of the new hot young sad girl who is also actually from the southern gothic white trash background lana fetishises with the boomer net illiteracy that means that as far as anyone could tell the root of the grievance was being unable to read a complimentary peter griffin meme… that’s art to me. these girls understand fighting

I love concept albums so much but they’re inherently embarrassing for me because sometimes you have your playlist on w/ someone and they’re like “girl what is battery city? girl who is nico and the niners? girl what the hell is a mind crime?” and I’m like alright you’ve forced my hand I’m going to talk in detail about the stories and the bands relationship with them for three hours without breathing once and they’re like hahaha and I get a text from them later that night and they’re like “hey I just think we have energy levels that are incompatible but you’re beautiful and there’s nothing wrong with you I just have different needs.
