"i like montreal because it's like me we're both simple" and then the entire movie is about her fragmented identities as a chinese immigrant and a mother and a wife and a lesbian and a woman going through menopause and a friend and a french language student and an amateur dancer and how every life she lives is compartmentalized into the boxes of these separate identities that she can't put together in her head but in the end it really is as simple as saying this is where i want to be this is who i want to be. okay!
