I first saw you when you were dancing to the Bee Gees. God, I hate Bee Gees! But when i came home, I caught myself listening to the bandâs record Iâve got from my sister.
I think you know that I actually have a typeâ and you definitely didnât fit in those frames. You had dark hair, when i preferred blonde more; you had brown eyes, when i liked blue, so thereâd be some contrast; you didnât have button nose, you had big doe eyes, your lips were always dry. I wasnât your type eitherâ you had the hugest crush on John Travolta. However, i saw myself in you every time i looked at you. And when you first caught my stare with your sparkly eyes, it felt like i was looking in the mirror.
I was with my friend, so i was too scared to ask for your number. It was my biggest regret in life. Because almost a year later, i worked up the courage and asked you out, when I accidentally saw you on the street. Iâve been always wondering: what would my life have been if you havenât been running late for your work that day? I bet it wouldâve been dull as hell.
You didnât say âyesâ to my offerâ you just rolled your eyes, when i finished telling you where and when weâre meeting. I was so confused and blue that you didnât answer, that you just ignored me.
But maybe it was my luck, because on Friday, 22nd of May at 6:34 oâclock, in the year of 1987, you opened the door of the cafe and of my heart. You came to the date (you were an hour late, but I wouldâve waited for you for hours, if i knew that youâd come). If we only knew how happy weâre back then!
When i came home after our vertiginous date, i immediately looked under my bed, where the old dusty Bee Gees record was lying. And for the next two hours Iâve been listening to Children of the World album.
