i know i say this literally every time he’s in an episode, but i truly cannot emphasize enough how much little i care about Beck
like at this point i don’t even care about whatever they’re building up with him and Ingrid anymore, or if he’s the villain this season or not. i just want him gone 😭
i will say though that with how the show is doing everything it can to show how bad of a person he is, my theory right now is either one of two things. either it’s building up to another Moriarty-esque plot of Ingrid having to choose (again) between saving herself and joining him or saving the team. or they could just be setting it up to subvert him being a villain entirely
as much as i love when Stephens and Adam are arguing over everything constantly, i also love when they show that they care about each other. their hug at the end was so sweet
i also really liked how the entire time Stephens was so adamant about both Adam and Sasha. i feel like a lot of times in tv shows, when characters get into romantic relationships it takes precedent over everyone else in their lives. i like that Ingrid is still important to Sasha and Adam is still important to Stephens
however i also think there might be something to be said about how even though both Ingrid and Adam had their respective moments with Sasha and Stephens, they were both left standing there staring as Sasha and Stephens left them to run towards each other
idk if i’ve just been reading too much into things, but it feels like in the last few eps, Stephens has been a lot meaner and more reminiscent of how he treated Adam last season. i know that him running to Adam and hugging/clinging to him was a direct response to Adam potentially almost dying again, but i wonder if Stephens is going to be nicer again like he was at the beginning of the season or if he’s going to become defensive again.
i also wonder if all of that is just a coincidence and i’m just reading too much into it or if it’s a result of Stephens going to therapy and all the stuff with their father that came out that’s making him more defensive towards Adam
look i refuse to lose chess to a dog and i have like 0% faith that a network procedural would ever actually go to the route of Ingrid/Sasha. but that look Ingrid gave Stephens and Sasha at the end was definitely something.
idk if they’d break Sasha and Stephens up so soon, but with Sasha now being canonically queer, i could see the show either setting up:
1) Ingrid does have feelings for Sasha and that look was jealousy. or
2) Ingrid feels jealous because she feels that Sasha is her person just in general and in that moment she felt Stephens was taking Sasha away from her, but instead of lashing out she’s trying to self-destruct by getting closer to Beck
i wouldn’t be surprised if it’s that last one just because it’s a Sherlock Holmes adaptation after all, and intense friendships that borderline homoerotic are just kinda inherent to the source material
also as intriguing as the idea of an Ingrid/Sasha/Stephens throuple is, i genuinely cannot see Ingrid and Stephens as anything but friends. also, Ingrid doesn’t really seem like the type of person that would be happy with sharing Sasha. especially since she lowkey already has a problem with sharing Sasha with Stephens now 😭
