This is a small project. I post about what Sonic and Shadow are doing every day. Often includes other characters. I should have posts scheduled, but sometimes I donât. Sorry! Please feel free to request daily activities :) (THIS IS A SONADOW BLOG, but it doesnât have to be for you!)
This is a blog dedicated to posting about what Sonic and Shadow are up to every day. Obviously not canon, all made up by me, and liable to miss days (I started this during exams, what a good choice!). Posts should pop up at around 1:30 PM AST, or 5:00 PM AST (and long posts at around 9:00 PM).
Keep in mind, the guy running this (just me) is very much a Sonadow shipper. Posts will lean in that direction. If you don't want to read it, then you don't have to! Just don't come in this space to spread hate on the ship, negativity isn't welcome here. You can ignore every post tagged as ship if you just want to know what those hedgehogs would be up to, according to me.
Most often the two of them will keep to themselves and their own lives, but sometimes they'll cross paths, like they always do. Other characters will be involved more often than not, at least on Sonic's end of things. I have not consumed every piece of canon Sonic media, Iâm still getting through it all, so some things may be contradicted or ignored on accident. My characterization isnât perfect either. Feel free to point any errors out to me, I donât mind!
There is a simple tagging system! It goes like this:
Tags for any appearing/mentioned character will be used appropriately.
Alongside basic fandom tags, "#sonic & shadow" will be tagged for any posts where they're actually, physically present in the same space/area.
"#sonadow" will be tagged whenever they're up to something that reads as "shippy", I suppose, though you can read it as either platonic or romantic.
There are background ships, and if they're ever to be implied or mentioned, their tags will be used appropriately as well.
Tags for teams (such as Team Dark, Team Sonic, etc.) will be used when all members of one team or more are present or mentioned.
EVERY post will be tagged with â#ss dailyâ in case you want to filter out posts from this blog altogether when looking through the main character/ship tags.
That's all! You're free to request activities for any of the characters to take part in through the inbox, and I'll post them sometime with a note saying who requested it and a username tag to go with it (you can request anonymously, of course).
I do not expect many people to see nor take part in this project, I simply wanted to do it. If you come across this blog, hello! I hope you have fun here.
Sonic is wrangling some young kids back into a school. According to their caretaker, they were outside playing when they saw him in the town helping around. Impressively, they all collectively broke confinement to try and go talk to him. This is how he ended up swarmed by over-excited kids, trying to persuade them into going back inside. He doesn't want to lie and say that "kindergarten is just as cool as me", because he never actually went to any school. They'd all listen to whatever he says, anyway, so maybe he'll just... tell them to go inside?
Shadow is buying various fresh vegetables and fruits from a nearby market. Many of them he's never tried before, produce was not something they could afford to have on the ARK. Today is as good of a time as any.
Sonic is relaxing atop a tower, the tallest he could find, basking in the nice weather. It isnât sunny, or even all that warm. The air is thick with moisture, cold and still, even all the way up here. A light drizzle dampens his fur. The slight fog makes everything below him a bit blurry. He kind of wishes he could stay here forever.
Shadow is talking with Amy about interior design. Which is not what he sought her out for, he had come to give her a red and frilly shawl that Rouge found in her closet, said she didnât wear anymore, and mentioned that Amy may like it more than she does. Turns out, yes, Amy adores it. But he made the mistake of commenting on her living quarters, so now he has been engaged in a discussion about how public places (as in spaces like small shops) decorate. They agree on a lot more things than he expected.
Sonic is at a local food placeâ alone this time, unfortunately Amy was busyâ here to try out⊠Anything he can get his hands on, honestly. Other than Amy and Tails, a lot of his friends recommended the place to him, all different items. Heâs going to try them all, and then see if his opinions will land him in a spot of controversy yet again.
Shadow is watering Creamâs garden. Her and her mother are on a trip to meet up with family, so she wouldnât be able to tend to it herself for a week or so. He had asked why they wouldnât request someone else to do it, to which Vanilla explained that everyone else usually has their hands full, and Sonic, who usually doesnât, canât keep a plant alive to save his life. âThe boy adores nature,â she told him, âbut he does not have a green thumb at all.â Shadow isnât doing much more now than holding a watering can over some tulips, yet he feels an immense pressure to keep them thriving.
Sonic is sunbathing on a rooftop, and Charmy is fluttering around him. He just had a run-in with the Babylon Rogues, who seem to have been in the area for a while already, according to the Chaotix. Jet challenged Sonic to a rematch (one of many) as soon as he was spotted, and itâs not like him to refuse. It ended up turning into a physical rematch after Sonic won one time too many, and of course, he won that one too. The Chaotix were on standby, completely unbeknownst to Sonic, and decided that kicking the bird while he was down with an interrogation was a good idea. It probably is. Theyâre literally thieves. Charmy got bored, thatâs why heâs up here with Sonic, bothering him instead of the others. Canât blame the kid.
Shadow is with Omega and Rouge, whittling down a truly impressive horde of Eggman robots. G.U.N. somehow managed to re-activate them, as far as heâs aware, they were being stored in the middle of nowhere in an underground base, so how they managed to do that is beyond him. Omega shouts (as much as a robot can) at Rouge to stop âstealing his killsâ or heâll âeradicateâ her. Rouge shouts back that he shouldnât speak that way to a lady, and throws Shadow under the bus by saying heâs been downing more badniks than she has. He doesnât humor either of them with a response, instead, he vaporizes the nearest robot with a Chaos spear. He has an emerald, but what kind of fun would it be for the rest of his team, if he destroyed their opponents in an instant? If it gets too close to truly dangerous, Shadow will take care of it. For now, itâs friendly competition.
Sonic is on the hunt. Not in any malicious way! Heâs just looking for someone. And while that someone is almost as hard to find as Espio is when heâs sneaking about all invisible, Sonic has a strategy. Itâs called having friends, and he plans to use that like a weapon today.
In reality, he doesnât at all expect to be spending more than a minute hanging out with Shadow, because heâs pretty obviously not a âhanging outâ kind of guy. Sonic has only ever pulled that off in potentially dangerous scenarios or competitions (see: the whole situation with Dodon Pa), and while he could spring a friendly challenge out of the blue, goad him into it, thatâs kind of mean. Sonic isnât gonna force him into social interaction. Heâs been in spots where thatâs like a death sentence, and heâs not gonna be that annoying. Theyâve got a fragile thing going on!
Now, if he has no clue where Shadow is right now, whoâs the one connection heâs got to the guy, and the one person whoâd know where he is, probably?
Rouge.
Admittedly, their friendship isnât really a close one, not like the one heâs got with Knuckles, Silver, et cetera. Sheâs only in the same area as he is once in a blue moon, and has little reason to interact with his group aside from causing mischief and sweetly asking for favors. But today, for all intents and purposes, theyâre besties, and always have been. How far she chooses to play along with that is gonna decide how this goes very heavily. Itâll go how it wants to go.
The first time Sonic visited Club Rouge, it was for almost the exact same reason he is now. Except that time, he wasnât looking for Shadow, he was looking for a soda (it was a hot day), and happened to come across the place by complete chance. Specifically the name caught his eye, because hey, he knows someone named Rouge! So when he went in and the bat herself was there, it wasnât much of a shock, but it was a nice surprise. Of course, he remembers where it is exactly; his sense of direction is perfect. All heâs gotta do is hope that Rouge is actually there, since she gets people to cover for her occasionally.
When he pushes the door and steps into the club, luck appears to be on his side. Rouge stands behind the bar counter, leaning forward, a slightly bored look on her face. Itâs not a big building, and not usually very busy (heâs convinced she steals jewels just to keep it running), so thereâs only like, five people here right now. Also, itâs daytime. These guys must be just as bored to be in a club during the day.
Rouge finally notices the blue hedgehog that just walked through her door, and when she sees him, a sly smile breaks out on her face.
âLook who it is! What brings you here, big blue?â
âLong time no see. Sorry to say, Iâm not here to be social,â
She fakes dismay. âOh, but you always come here to talk and play darts and steal the soda from the cooler,â That last part is pointed. âAnswer my question, then; what brings you here?â
âIâm lookinâ for Shadow. Know where he is?â
âSure I do,â sheâs suddenly a little more serious, âWhy are you looking, exactly?â
Sonic contemplates, scratching at his ear. âYouâd be really mad if I told you.â
Rouge gives him a puzzling look, walks out of the bar and up to him, interrogation style. âNow, as much as Iâm curious to know why that is, and as much as I want to let you boys be boys, Iâm not gonna give you directions just so you can bother him. What kinda friend would I be, hm?â
Sheâs right, yeah. And sheâs not so mean as to get genuinely upset over not being given a Chaos Emerald for free. Maybe some light teasing, woeful acting, at most. Sheâll understand. Probably.
âOkay, sorry. I came to give him this Chaos Emerald we found, and I figured youâd be distraught if you found out it wasnât for you,â
âBlue!â She gasps dramatically, hand over her mouth and eyes wide, just as he predicted, âIâm heartbroken to be sure, butâ! How sweet of you. I swear, only the other day, I was complaining to that boy about my datesâŠâ
Sonic has no clue what sheâs talking about.
ââŠOh, never-mind. You go. Heâs out past the city, on that little hill, youâll find him.â
Didnât go as he expected.
âThanks! Iâll stop by again soon.
Heâs just about to leave, door already open, when Rouge stops him with another question.
âWhy not keep it? If I may ask,â
Sonic shrugs. âDoesnât he need one?â
Out on the hill, just like Rouge said, Shadow sits in a melancholy fashion, his fur looks like a warm brown in the sunlight. Sonic can tell heâs already noticed he has company, from the way his ears tilt back, and his quills flare out a little. Oh well, if heâs in a bad mood, Sonic can deal. After all, he didnât expect to be here long.
âSorry to interrupt your brooding,â he says, and watches as Shadow does a complete one-eighty in the body language department, âI got something to drop off. Then Iâll be on my way.â
The dark hedgehog stands and turns to face him. His face is completely unreadable, the same intense look as always. But he doesnât seem particularly bothered, only calm and sure, striding up towards Sonic without breaking eye contact once. FrighteningâŠ
âWhat is it,â he asks, without any hint of questioning. Itâs making him nervous, only a little.
Sonic pulls the emerald out of his quills, presents it with much fanfare and a bow. âTa-da! We found it on the beach. Thought you might want it.â
Shadow hesitantly reaches for the emerald, eyes narrowed, still boring into Sonicâs soul. âItâs the same one you got from me, not long ago,â
âYeah, I think,â Sonic tilts his head at it. âI gave it to you first, though. In the woods,â
âYes. Why are you giving it to me?â
âI dunno. Donât you want it?â
âYes,â Shadow keeps glaring at him, âDonât you?â
Sonic shrugs. âDoesnât matter to me. If its in your hands, thatâs just as good as it being in mine.â
Something shifts in Shadowâs expression. All suspicion and slight hostility disappears, now heâs⊠Well, he looks surprised, for whatever reason.
âAlright,â the dark hedgehog blinks. âThank you,â
âYep,â Sonic replies, feeling a bit lightheaded.
âOn your way, now?â
âOn my way.â
Sonic can feel those red-brown eyes staring at him even as he runs back to the city.
Sonic is sitting in a sunny, grassy field. Simply taking a short rest while on a run. No flowers, sadly, but the breeze is so gentle he can see an ant crawling up a blade of grass, instead of it all looking like noise. Sun's behind him, not in his eyes, warming his quills. What a nice day.
Shadow is sitting with a stray cat in Empire City. He's here with Rouge, who's off doing whatever, it's not his business. The cat is a tortoiseshell, with a bob tail and one flat-tipped ear. It sits next to him indifferently, not looking his way, and he returns the favor. The sun is nice today, he agrees.
Sonic is laying on a beach, thoroughly soaked and sulking. Just a minute ago Amy and him were ambushed by Metal Sonic, and in the middle of teaching him a lesson, he chucked Sonic into the ocean. Amy drove off Metal on her own before helping Sonic get to shore, now where he lays, willing the sun to shine a little brighter so he doesn't have to deal with being soggy anymore. Amy pats his head soothingly and tells him to get over it.
Shadow is on an excursion with Omega. An object impacted the Earth out in a wooded area not far from their headquarters, and they wanted dibs, basically. Both of them are durable enough to withstand any potential hazards the object may bring, while Omega specifically is tasked with transporting it back (if it's safe to). They're not there yet, still about 2 miles away. Shadow complains that he could get there faster if Omega wasn't there, so Omega complains right back that he'll be doing the real work by carrying it and should deserve all the credit. Shadow swats at his hand when he tries to pick him up.
Sonic is out in the woods playfully sparring with Tangle. She called Tails to complain about the lack of eventful events and to ask if Sonic was busy today. And he wasn't! So he sped over to Spiral Hill and they've been goofing off since.
Shadow is being visited by Silver, who really wanted to talk to him before going back to his own time. Mainly for advice, which admittedly, Shadow couldn't provide much of. He's grown as a person, but he's certainly far from being done growing at all. All he could say was "do what you think is right, and have faith in your own judgement". Silver took that like it was written in the stars, nodding dutifully with determined eyes. Nearly as much of a symbol of hope as Sonic is, Shadow has to think.
Sonic is with Belle, puzzling over a robotic lobster-looking-thing that is puzzling back at them passively. Itâs definitely not one of Eggmanâs badniks, the style isnât quite right (even if an older model or something), so his best guess is it was made by someone trying to replicate his style. Since itâs not trying to attack either of them, or at least Sonic, they canât really classify it as a problem. Belle suggests it stays with her and her motobug. Sonic canât object, as long as itâs out of his quills.
Shadow is asleep. He tried not to be, but, oh well. Once a month is better than once a day. Means he wonât be nodding off doing something important later. On the floor isnât the most comfortable place to be sleeping, though the prospect of being in the way of Rouge trying to walk will amuse him, whenever it is he wakes up.
Sonic is looming over Tails's shoulder as he pokes away at something on his device. From the rushed and spacy explanation he was given (Tails was very much focused on other matters, and still is), some random web developer released a huge puzzle game sort of thing, and there's thousands of people trying to solve it at the same time. It all looks really complicated and way too time consuming for Sonic, so he settles for watching Tails do it. And because it's funny to tell him to watch his language every time he mutters out a curse word under his breath.
Shadow is trying and failing to solve the exact same puzzle Tails is working on. He wouldn't have known about it if the fox hadn't messaged Rouge asking if either of them would try it out with him, to which Rouge passed on immediately, saying she'd rather do literally anything else. Shadow, however, was moderately interested; maybe it would do him good to keep his intelligence sharp, see if he needs it. An hour and a half later, he's stolen Rouge's phone (much to her utter despair) while messaging Tails every idea he gets. It's shockingly fun.
Sonic is asleep on the floor of Tailsâs workshop, directly in the way. Tails gave up on trying to move him (itâs hard when heâs covered in spines), now heâs trying to work as loudly and obnoxiously as possible so he wakes up and sleeps elsewhere. It is not working.
Shadow is dealing with some bandits, who look strikingly familiar, but he canât really place it. Any other day he wouldnât bother with serving them justiceâ thievery isnât his area of expertiseâ but they happen to be after one of the same jewels that Rouge is on the hunt for, and are trying to steal it at the same time. He wonât let that slide, not if he can help it.
Sonic is bothering Knuckles on Angel Island. He got Tails to fly him up with the Tornado, though only Sonic stayed; Tails had other things to do, per the usual. Obviously, Knuckles wasnât at all notified that Sonic would be dropping in, and the surprise was met like how all other surprises bestowed upon his echidna friend are: with indignant yelling and accusation. Sonic has to assure him that no, he isnât here because he needs help, and no, he wasnât tailed by Rouge. Honestly, the only reason he came up here was because he missed the guy. Missed annoying him, to be specific. Sonic isnât even doing anything right now, literally just sitting on top of the Master Emerald in silence, but he can tell his constant movement is going to earn him a punch in the face soon. Itâs not his fault, he just wanted to hang out!
Shadow is being re-introduced to the concept of video games by Tails. Somehow, his mention of never having played one to Amy the other day got brought up to the fox. Seemingly on a mission, and less wary of Shadow than he has been, Tails found out where exactly he would be today (not shocking, the kit is terrifyingly intelligent) and brought at least three consoles with even more games to play using them. Unfortunately, where he is today is also where Rouge is, and when she found out she pulled an expression that radiated mischievous joy. She is very much going to enjoy either watching Tails beat him over and over, or doing it herself, if worst comes to worst. Either way, heâs not looking forward to it.
Sonic is laying on the roof of Tailsâs lab and listening to music. Every supposedly speed-resistant listening devices Tails comes up with somehow get smashed to bits sooner or later, so the only compromise is to listen to music and stay still. Kind of boring, but whatever. He knows how to relax.
Shadow is watching from the sidelines as Amy paints flowers onto Omegaâs chassis with acrylic. He doesnât know how he got here, how the two got into doing this, or why heâs sticking around for it. He can see Omegaâs claws have been painted as if they were nails, and chances are in a minute heâll be roped into it as well. Rouge is going to suffocate laughing when she sees them.
