“Oh no bother!” Cassie says, looking up at Sonny. “Your daughter was just telling me about how you and her just moved in here from another town here. She’s very polite,” she explains, shifting her posture a little bit to look up at Sonny, who’s about a foot taller than her. “I’m Cassie. I live down the street in the kinda pale yellow house.”
Sonny was, honestly, weirded out by the idea of living around strangers. The neighborhood he lived in while still residing in his parent’s house was full of kids his age, and during the summer they usually had a block party. Being out on his own now, though, was different. It freaked him out. But he had to get used to it, because there was no going back now. “Well, I’m happy to hear that - I’m trying to raise her right. Don’t want her to be some disrespectful little brat, y’know?” God, his parents would kill him if he let Lucy grow up to be anything like her mother. “Nice to meet you, Cassie,” He offered a hand for her to shake. “I’m Sonny. We’ve been sitting on this house for three years now - just seemed like the right time to move in and settle on our own.”
