I usually love David Lynch films but this made no sense to me, I need a commentary or something to explain to me what on earth is going on

Film recommendation-Les adoptés (the adopted)

It may not have astounding reviews but this film has flair and a certain charm about it, the story is touching and the look of the film stunning which is why I don't understand the bad reviews; it is also the directorial debut of Melanie Laurent (known for Beginners and Inglorious Basterds) it shows her ability well and I am looking forward to future films by her the only criticism I can find with this film is the three chapters don't all get enough time to shine, 'Marine' feels too short and underdeveloped (three and a half/four stars)

Melancholia

Brilliant, has to be one of my favorite movies of all time. Though I'm sick of people saying the same thing over and over again: 'Visually stunning' and 'Utterly boring'. Though I suppose that depends on if you understand the film for what it is, which is not supposed to be an amazingly fast paced film it is a look at emotions and how severe depression effects everybody, not just the sufferer and also how people sometimes don't understand these emotions. Though that's just what I took away from the film which I myself found to be wonderful and intriguing rather than simply a film that is all explosions and no emotion. (5 out of 5 stars)

I want to see this movie this week, after hearing so much about it at cannes and hearing rather mixed reviews it will be nice to judge an interesting looking film for myself, though I am not keen on Robert Pattinson as an actor from what I have seen him in previously.

Okay, the trailer for The Great Gatsby has been released, and all I have seen so far is people being negative about it. It doesn't show a great deal so I don't see why people are judging the actors chosen. The visuals to me are perfect and if the acting is a s stunning as the visuals I will be pleased. The Great Gatsby is my favorite literary piece of all time so they better get it right. This will either be a wonderful adaption or be a terrible adaption I will never forgive.

P.s. Anything is better than the 1974 film, which was severely overacted and wrong. And why is Jay-Z playing?

Antichrist (2009)

Never have I seen a piece of cinema that has been hundreds of different things. This movie is so beautifully shot, you could stop it at any point and there would be a certain beauty that is breathtaking; yet the film is also so visceral and harrowing, one that stays with you for a long time after you have seen it. Yes it stirred controversy when screened at Cannes (as expected with any lars von trier film) there is only one reason why I do not like controversial cinema such as this, the focus is never on the film as a whole but instead on a handful of scenes, an example of another film to suffer this fate is the girl with the dragon tattoo which is known as controversial for it's graphic rape scenes. This film is most well known for it's self mutilation scene which is the only thing I knew about it before seeing it.

★★★★/★★★★★ controversial yet gripping and intriguing, the film is difficult to watch in places and is a difficult film to comment on but it is one of the strangest, yet satisfying films you will ever see
