Random Dead Boy Detectives fanfic idea. Body Swap with consequences.

David is desperate to regain his influence over Crystal so he used a demon ritual which would create a spiritual inversion between him and Charles. David would became a ghost with Charles physical appearance whilst Charles would be forced to take on David pure demon form.

David attempts to gaslight Crystal whilst looking like Charles however since he's nothing like Charles they quite quickly discover what has happened and try to trap David with Iron however he has a backup plan as Charles is currently trapped in a demonic form in a magical circle designed to trap a demon.

Eventually they are able to find Charles and trap David and Edwin is able to find a spell which should switch them back. However something goes wrong and Charles spiritual body is destroyed along with David. David is dead however Charles is left a malevolent writhing mass of darkness (not sure what David looks like as a demon).

From here Charles would have to learn how to exist as a demon and eventually finding someone to possess. He has to adapt to not only more malicious instincts and new powers but also now others react to him. Even Edwin and Crystal are wary despite being able to hide it.

Not sure where you could go with this. Perhaps he could find a way to become human again or begin a spiral or corruption and darkness. You could go incredibly tragic with a peaceful afterlife forever beyond him. Edwin feeling terrible guilt because Charles only ever stayed for him. Crystal unable to be around Charles because beyond just knowing what he is she can sense it.

So I've recently gotten lost in the Spiderman in Gotham storyline. To my delight there are many fanfictions with this so I've got lots to read. Many stories share some common elements such as Peter being resurrected in a Lazarus and him living with Jason. These are all good but I'm wondering if any other variations on it exist?

Peter in Metropolis with Clark as a mentor

Peter gains new powers that aren't an enhancement of his spiderness

He arrives in a different way other than via the Snap or Dr Strange sending him away. For example the Siege Perilous would be perfect for this.

Peter being reborn as one of the Batfam instead of being related.

Peter being Bruce son

Peter being related to a villain like Lex

Peter being found by Ivy and Harley and living with them

Peter immediately being found by the Batfam instead of being homeless.

An older more experienced Spiderman ends up in DC.

Random DBDA fanfic ideas.

1. Ghosts always look as they did when they died and can't change their appearance. Edwin despite his death involving demons is actually the most normal looking of the two, he is in his night clothes and has rope burns on his wrists, there is an odd smell of burning around him but otherwise seems fine. Charles is a grey skinned shivering mess of bruises and bleeding wounds from impacts from being hit with rocks. He gives of a cold aura which can be felt by others.

2. Demon!Edwin and Angel!Charles pretending they aren't an angel and a demon so they can hang out. They insist they are ghosts despite everyone being able to see Edwin's horns and demon wings and Charles very clearly has a halo and angel wings. They keep going with their story despite people having seen Edwin throwing around hellfire and Charles wielding a flaming sword and smiting various evil beings.

3. St. Hilarion's becomes tainted by the attempted demon summoning which killed Edwin, Simon and the other boys. They didn't end up in hell instead became trapped in the school. The now malevolent building becomes a cursed place akin to the Overlook Hotel. Over the years more students die mysterious circumstances and their spirits are corrupted into violent ghosts which serve as extensions of the school. Edwin is the only one who retained his sense of self and he tried his hardest to stop anyone else falling victim. Charles eventually joined Edwin in combating the other ghosts whilst also trying to find a way to escape.

I feel like some people should watch the show again because they call Charles the angry one. He certainly has his moments but only in highly emotional and stressful situations (Devlin House, Night Nurse Mind Mojo). Most of the time, Charles is calmest next to Niko.

Crystal, on the other hand, is barely contained ball of rage in a purple coat. She's the one you have to watch out for.

I'm not sure how well I'll articulate this, but I'll try my best.

I've seen a recurring theme in Dead Boy Detectives stories about how ghosts slowly lose their memories the longer they stay on Earth. Edwin is usually the victim of this since he's been dead for a century and spent 70 years in hell so it's not surprising he would lose things, often to the point he can't remember his family. I've read some stories where ghosts have lingered for so long that they have basically faded into nothing but voices, ghosts who become so diminished they basically stop existing.

Now, losing one's sense of self is always horrifying, but the opposite can also be true. What if ghosts never forget? They aren't bound by human limitations, so why should they. This would be bad for Charles, who was viciously abused by his dad (a twat) then murdered by his friends. But for Edwin, it would be orders of magnitude, worse with him remembering 70 years of hell with clarity, every torn limb, and then being resurrected.

Random Dead Boy Detectives fanfiction ideas.

1. After a particularly long case, the boys come home to find the building housing the Agency has been demolished. They had been aware of the dilapidated state of the building since they moved in over 25 years ago. However, they are ghosts, and it wasn't as an issue. To stop random humans trying to come into their home, they had carefully maintained a series of spells and enchantments to discourage anyone unaware of the supernatural from entering. Someone had deliberately removed these spells and had stolen the collection of books and items they collected over the years.

This story would then have the boys being both distraught at losing their home and angered at being robbed. They would go on a long search throughout London, finding everything that had been taken, including the couch. They would also break the legs of whoever robbed them. The other part of the story would see them finding new home, not sure exactly where this would be, but it would have to be somewhere interesting like an old fire station or ww2 bunker.

2. A Vampire!Charles story who is incredibly possessive about Edwin, who in this is a Witch. They still have an agency but focus on things other than ghosts. Charles is actually very friendly for a vampire, but he had a few berserk buttons. 1 is damaging his coat, which he has had for 30 years, and it's his baby. 2 is being rude to Edwin, which would result in you being thrown out the window. 3 is doing anything that could be considered as taking Edwin away from Charles. For example, if Monty had asked Edwin on a date, then Charles would hunt him from the shadows, making him paranoid. Monty would see Charles everywhere, becoming convinced Charles wanted to eat him.

I feel a bit sorry for Charles in "The of the Two Dead Dragons". He's clearly dealing with what happened with the Night Nurse, Edwin is distracted by his own issues, and Crystal is being angry and confrontational in an attempt to get Charles to talk. This is the worst way to try and get Charles to open up. Thank Death for Edwin at the end.

Guardian Angel Charles AU.

In this AU, Charles is a guardian angel who is meant to watch over his charges on Earth and keep them safe. He can only interfere in a limited way, something that frustrates him greatly. One day in 1989, during a regular check-in with one of his charges, who he had to rescue from being beaten by a group of boys, Charles senses a doorway to hell open briefly before closing.

Thinking that a demon had escaped hell, Charles summoned his blade and went to where he could sense the infernal presence. To his surprise, it wasn't a demon but a damned soul who had somehow escaped hell. He had intended to return it to hell. However, he stopped when he recognised the soul. It was Edwin Payne, a former charge of Charles, who he had failed in the most terrible way, and Edwin had been dragged to hell before he could intervene.

Knowing he couldn't banish someone innocent back to hell, Charles decides to try and help Edwin. However, he's unsure how to go about it. He watched Edwin in between his duties, wondering how exactly he could help Edwin. He couldn't just take Edwin to heaven, not whilst his soul was technically owned by hell. He also couldn't bring Death because although she could take Edwin on, he would just be taken back to hell.

In a reckless move, Charles pretends to be a psychic and introduced himself to Edwin. Despite being hesitant, Edwin soon found he enjoyed being around Charles. They soon began solving issues that other ghosts were facing, helping them to move on. Without Charles realising several years had passed however and they took on more complicated cases and the two became even closer. Throughout all of this, Charles kept his true nature to himself out of both fear and shame of what Edwin would think if he knew the truth.

However, soon, Edwin, of course, noticed things not least that Charles hadn't aged in a decade and never spoke of his past in detail. Charles would try to change the subject. However, Edwin kept asking. The choice would be taken away from Charles when he was forced to assume his true angelic form to fight a demon who had sensed Edwin and come to collect him. Edwin saw Charles glowing with colossal wings and his form glowing with celestial light and fire looking inhuman and horrific. Edwin runs, and Charles chases after trying to assure Edwin he would never harm him.

Soon, everything came out, and Edwin feels a deep sense of betrayal. Edwin doesn't blame Charles for him going to hell. However, in the past 10 years, he had trusted Charles with everything and told him things he had never told anyone. Charles, however, had lied about everything, and he didn't know if he could trust him again . Edwin didn't want to lose his only friend, so he does go back and try and rebuild trust. Charles promised that he would try never to lie to Edwin again, and they continued to help souls as much as they could, although with Edwin now fully knowing what Charles could do.

My god, I rambled in this, and I'm not even sure if it makes sense. Just an idea that came when I was watching the show again. I wish I had actual writing abilities because I would try to write a story, but this is the best I can do..

If i could change one thing about the Mortal Instruments it would be any Shadowhunter who called Simon "Vampire" in a derogatory way would immediately walk into a wall. (Jace and Alec will have frequent broken noses)

The Death Loop is an interest concept. I'm positive there is a story in which Charles is trapped in one, and Edwin has to figure out how to get him out of it.

Imagine if, instead of going to hell, Edwin ends up trapped in a loop of his own death for 70 years. It's not exactly hell but as close as possible. I imagine Charles would die in identical circumstances to the show, but he's alone and vengeful due to dying alone. He stuck around to get some revenge on his killers. However, he comes across Edwin's Loop and does everything he can to save him.

Charles in "Case of the Dead Dragons" is a stronger man than I could ever be, 'cause if I was getting attacked by my friends after reliving my trauma, I'd be leaving them all behind and ghosting (ha!) people for at least a week before putting my smile and toxic positivity back in place.

I love Charles, and he's an amazing protector. However, I understand why some people might be unconvinced when he says he's the Brawn of the agency. With the greatest of respect to Charles, he's a noodle person. He could sideways, and he would become undetectable.

Without a doubt my favourite thing in stories in which the boys have been resurrected is them slamming into walls and doors when trying and falling to phase through them.

I like to imagine Crystal keeping a tally of how many times it happens.

I have been trying for weeks to come up with a coherent way of describing a potential Doctor Who/DBDA AU. However, I have continually failed. So, instead, here are random parts as bullet points.

• Both Edwin and Charles would be Time Lords

• Edwin is from a high-ranking family, and his father was a Council Member. When Edwin graduated from the Academy, his intelligence was noted, and he was put to work on deciding ways to fight the Daleks.

• Charles was born from a common family, and he later joined the military, eventually rising to officer status and was granted the title of Time Lord. He was put together with Edwin in designing anti Dalek weapons.

• Edwin and Charles become friends after working together for years. The weapon they created was used on the Daleks but also destroyed several galaxies in the process. Horrified at what their work had done and seeing how far the Time Lords would go they decided to flee.

• They hide from the Time War by taking their Tardis into the Void. During their time in the Void, Edwin was taken by an Eternal and subject to horrific experiences for its amusement. He and Edwin eventually escape and begin exploring the universe.

• Their Tardis develops a personality of her own and likes to he called Niko. The boys consider Niko as family and she will frequently appear as in holographic form to hang out.

• By mutual agreement between Edwin, Charles, Niko, and several planetary governments, Edwin is forbidden from piloting the Tardis. He is a truly awful pilot, and he last attempt saw him crash into the same planet over millions of years.

• Crystal was born on a future colony and became their companion after they visited her world. Crystal is psychic and was used by her parents to cheat their clients.

• When they land on a new planet, all Edwin wants to do is explore the libraries and learn as much as he can. Unfortunately, Charles will inevitably stumble into something that involves them running from the authorities.

• They know about the Doctor, but they are absolutely terrified of him having seen what he capable of so they actively hide from him. The Doctor would love to meet them and would definitely become their space grandad.

• If they had Time Lord names them Edwin would he The Scholar and Charles would be The Valiant.

It's done. My mad ramblings are out, and I 6 have to think about this.
