We've been rping since we were 8 years old on roblox, and used to run another rp blog back in the day. Due to traumatic circumstances, it did mean we had to stop writing rps for a very long while. We've thankfully began rping again after meeting our lovely husband, and now we want to branch out and try to find our love for roleplaying again. He was trying to sound something other than... ridiculous. It wasn't like singing was ever something he'd really tried before. But... he'd been taught this song as something special. Vash had trusted him with it, and he was going to figure out how to make it special. So he cleared his throat audibly and tried again, a little louder.
"So...
And on the second evening,

Then he caught the scent. Looking up, he was mortified.
"How... How long have you been standing there...?"
Kagome came over to sit next to Inuyasha, holding the bento box to Inuyasha, a simple one with beef chunks, rice, and some other stuff to accompany it.
"That song sounds amazing, where'd you learn it from? If you don't mind me asking?"

He's 200% certain Kagome can't hear his pitiful attempt at singing. He's probably wrong.
Kagome had just finished up a fresh batch of food for Inuyasha, about to announce herself before hearing the half demon practically muttering to himself.
Was that a song?
Was he singing?
She figured to stop and simply listen. She hasn't heard him sing before..

Inuyasha had popped his shoulder back into place. He's been seeing the way Edward had been killing himself mentally with his search and needing to get to certain stages. They were struggling to get the pieces of the jewel, and he did feel horrible over the very slow crawl..
But Naraku had been nothing but an absolute piece of shit, always poking his head in when it's not warranted, and then Alphonse nearly getting discovered.. yeah, it was a risk everyone was conscious of, but it was still scary to have it almost exposed.
So, a little reminder isn't too bad, at least every now and then.
Edward couldn't help but let a smile onto his face, he really did need to hear that, to know that Inuyasha would stay by him regardless of what happened with either of them or what could potentially happen with the bastard Naraku.
He had been so stressed out about everything, about his brother, about the group in general.
He patted the ground beside him, giving Inuyasha a soft smile.
Inuyasha gave a hum before placing himself in the spot Edward patted, crossing his legs as he looked over at the book Edward was reading for.. what seemed to be the millionth time now.
"Is that a book about alchemy? Looks old."
He leaned against Edward, almost like he was attempting a form of grounding so the alchemist didn't get too lost in his head. Inuyasha already knew what that looked like, and it wasn't pretty. Best he can try to help in any way.
Edward immediately leaned against Inuyasha the moment the dog demon had sat by him, mutually given back with Inuyasha returning the gesture. Though, it definitely felt more like he was trying to help him stay grounded.
A gesture he deeply appreciated.
"Yeah, I brought it with me from Central, checked it out from the library so I gotta make sure it comes back with me.. Figured I'd see if anything in some of the alchemy books could be of use to us."
It just.. made sense in his head to double check any and all alchemy books for anything he could've missed that would hell them. To find the shards. To beat Naraku and his incarnations.
Inuyasha could tell Edward was still kicking himself over mentally for feeling like he wasn't prepared enough. He onky sighed through his nose as he held onto Edwards flesh hand, using his thumb to rub at the skin to try and help him.
"The most we can do now is recouperate. Just try to breathe and regain your strength, after Naraku, you seem so exhausted. Not to mention you breathed in a little miasma. How's your lungs?"
It was.. scary, when Naraku's miasma seemed to get at Edward. He was so close to finishing the demon off after finally being able to break his barrier, yet he aimed straight for Edward- which was completely new from the vile creature- and he had to react. Kagome could only purify so much while also ensuring Alphonses' safety, and the incarnations were just another pain in the ass.
And yet, here Edward was, pouring over a book instead of properly resting.
"Yeah, I'm fine.. I mean.. Still feel a little sick but that'll clear up."
Edward was quick to try and reassure Inuyasha, he could just feel the worry coming off of him and the last thing he wanted was him or anyone else worrying more about him.
The miasma had hit him so quickly and hard that he only really remembered ended up on the ground, not able to move or breathe properly. His lack of an arm and leg meant his blood circulating carried the poison around him quick, filling him up with toxin that had him collapsed in mere minutes.
He had to be more careful, he had to plan ahead for a situation like that.
"I just need to be prepared, if I can do that then we won't have a repeat. We got too comfortable, I'm getting rusty."
Inuyasha's ears seemed to lower slightly as he shifted his head to rest an ear against Edward.
From here, he could hear the alchemists' heart beat. It was still going strong, like he was never affected by the miasma, but the image of Edward laying there, struggling to breathe..
He just had to hear his heart beating. He had to confirm the boy was alive.
Kagome talked about how Edward is more suseptible to the miasma, with being down an arm and a leg, that meant the blood itself would circulate a lot quicker after the poison got into the blood stream, which meant enough poison to get to his heart. That would have been game over. He couldn't lose Edward, not now, not after they had gotten so close.
"I'm sorry, Edward. I was supposed to protect you, and you got hurt because of me refusing to take care of you."

Ling grinned, a sense of giddiness coming from him at being able to talk about the human boey and the few conditions it could have, oh but diseases would be far more fun.
A small part of him always found it funny when some people would squirm at the information.
Picking up the drink, he gave a gesture of thanks before taking a sip from it. Just eating was making him feel so much better already but it was best to have as much as he could stomach.
The human body is so fucking weird, but Ling seemed happy enough to talk about it, so he lets the boy ramble. He can't say much after all, he was able to survive after losing his arm and leg that would have killed a normal child.
He still wonders why he got off scott free with living, besides getting the two heavy automail limbs in exchange.
Everything was just equivalent exchange.
He finished off this bowl before reaching for his second, digging in immediately.
"Interesting, right? The human body can have so much different between each person, born conditions are pretty cool, though I have more interest in diseases."
Diseases were his main interest with the body but anything about it made him happy to learn, no matter how gruesome it actually was. There was just a level of intrigue that came with the field that he couldn't resist, at least he'd be perfect for handling the health and wellbeing of his country when he becomes emperor.
He knew he would.
"It's pretty good, I'd say it's definitely up there with the few meals I've had here now!"
He finished the bowl, placing it aside and grabbing the next one to pry open. Digging straight in, what heaven.
Edward seemed to have a small smile over Ling indulging himself. As long as the prince was fed, then he wouldn't have two Xingese agents (who were no doubt nearby) putting their kunais to his throat. The least he could do was take care of Ling, even with their.. frequent meetings in the hotel room.
His face flushed a gentle pink, god it was just kissing and holding hands, yet he's acting like a child who's never done it before!
It was nice though..
Edward just simply poked at his food as he got lost in thought, his lips pursing into a tiny pout as he tried to force the blood rushing to his face back into the rest of his body.
Ling glanced up at Edward, noticing the way he picked at his food until his sights landed on his face.

"Are you okay, Ed? You look a little red there, you wouldn't happen to me thinking about me, are you?"
He spoke in a teasing tone, leaning against the table to bring his full attention to the alchemist. His smile matching the teasing he was making, resting his cheek against his hand. Almost smug.
"I think they must have put something in this food, you must be seeing shit, Ling."
God forbid his face goes even a little pink. He gave a huff before shoving his mouth with food as he continued eating, hopefully trying to stave off any embarrassment. Although, when Edward got a peek up and saw that Ling was still staring at him practically smug-like, his antenna seemed to stick all the way up as he continued to shovel food into his mouth, albeit a lot faster.
"THIS FOOD IS GREAT, ISN'T IT? YOU SHOULD EAT YOURS BEFORE I EAT IT, LING."
"Yeah actually! In some cases, the lack of melanin in the eyes makes it so the eyes are far more sensitive and could even be partly blind! Though, that's in the situation that the albino person is fully lacking melanin! It really depends on the severity of the case."

"Seems easy enough, how often do you need to do those assessments? I mean, they must be important if you have to go do them as a state alchemist.."
Ling didn't quite get the program, sure it was probably useful for an alchemic superpower to have alchemists in their ranks within the military so what were the assessments for exactly if the alchemist was on active duty? Just to see if they were still good to be an alchemist within the ranks?
Or was it some other reason?
Either way, he was too hungry to think too indepth about it as he grabbed himself his own bowl, digging in as soon as he could.
"I have to do them once a year, it's just proving that I'm still good enough to be a state alchemist. One year its a written test, next year will be test of my strength."
Edward had paused shovelling the food into his mouth, chewing whatever he could savour before swallowing to keep talking.
"One year they had me do both, but I guess it's because a lot of state alchemists got dropped that year, so probably just made it easier to do both."
Maybe it was to see if they'd still be good enough to be war weapons. The money was great, but everything else sucked. At least he had access to forbidden stuff in specific libraries, that is his silver lining.
Ling happily listened to Edward speak as he ate, when did Edward explaining things become so nice to listen to?
He knew nothing of alchemy nor his country's variant, Alkahestry, but it was because of those practices that he had such a strong interest in the human body and medical things in general. Mainly the human body though.
The body was a fascinating thing, an organic machine that did everything automatically via the brain sending signals while more manual inputs like moving and speaking would only signal when wanted.
He still couldn't get over the unusual chi that Edward had. Nothing like the homunculi but it was..
What was it?
"Sounds tough at times, I can't wrap my head around it but give me something on the human body and I'll give you everything you'd ever want to know about it."
"For a guy who claims he doesnt have knowledge in alkahestry, you sure do know a lot about the human body. I thought that's what alkahestry was all about?"
Of course, Edward was just teasing. He knew that Ling was more focused on becoming the prince of Xing, especially if it's to help his people who desperately needed to be saved, and he can understand that.
Hell, he tried to save anyone he could.
No killing, that was his deal to Roy, if he could stay out of the killing and just focus on getting his and Alphonses' bodies back, then he can leave the military with a somewhat peaceful conscience.
"You'd think but no, I'd wager its closer to how you lot learn alchemy, just with different methods."
The most that Ling had read about Alkahestry was the bare bones basics to understanding what it was more or less, as well as how it applied to medical uses and even its history but that was really it. He didn't care to learn it when he wanted nothing to do with it, though he knew of a few of his siblings who did partake in its use.
If he were to learn it.. Nah.
It wasn't for him.
"Besides, my interests in the human body doesn't need to be connected to alkahestry, science or not, I just find the organic workings fascinating.. Like for instance, in Albinism, the red eyes you see in some is actually light reflecting off of blood cells within the eyes!"
When did his annoying voice get so.. nice to listen to? This was frustrating.
The alchemist had sipped from his cup, almost every little bit of information was being bounced around in his head before he put down his drink and pushed it over for Ling to sip from if he wanted, stabbing his fork into a beef slice and munching hard on it.

"Wait, so does this mean the albino person can't see too well? Or is it just the fact they can see perfectly fine, just more sensitive because they don't have the melanin in the eyes to protect it?"
