What is your favorite thing to do?

"I like reading! Sometimes I use the modeling clay Kitten got me and make dinosaurs!"

"Its just a shirt, Ren, there’s no need to apologize." Naru mumbled as he sat up straight again, then lifted Ren up, and sat the boy back on the ground. " Now, just what do you suppose we do?"

Ren hiccuped. ”I don’t know,” he said meekly. ”Usually I have to get emotional again.” He fidgeted. ”It’s never been this far. A week, maybe a month.” Then he grabbed Naru’s hand, suddenly anxious again. ”What if I try to go back and I go in the wrong direction?”

Naru flinched when Ren gripped his hand, but allowed it because he knew the boy was scared. “Well you need to give me more information on your time jumps,” He said while he shifted so that he could stand, then taking advantage of Ren’s tight grip on his hand to pull the little six year old to his feet. “How you were feeling when they happened and how far you jumped, whether it be forwards or backwards, and what generally happens to you psychically before a jump and after.”

Ren frowned, relinquishing his grip on his father's hand. "I have to think," he said. "You had a whole file on it back in the future, but that won't help now."

He continued to frown, hand on his chin in an imitation of Naru's thinking pose. "I think I'm happy when I go back," he said slowly. "And if I'm upset... I go forward?"

What is your favorite thing to do?

"I like reading! Sometimes I use the modeling clay Kitten got me and make dinosaurs!"

After nearly being knocked onto his back, Naru swung his arm behind him to prop himself up as Ren sobbed into his chest, his free hand slowing began to rub the little boys back, because he knew it would calm him down. “It’s alright, Ren. Everything is going to be fine, okay?” he hushed his son soothingly.

Ren’s sobs died down after a few minutes until he was just sniffling. ”I got your shirt all wet,” he said after a while. It felt better to get his worries out in the open, and Naru holding him while he cried helped too. Slowly, he sat up and scrubbed at his eyes with his hands.

Naru looked off to the side for a moment, trying to gather his thoughts. “I don’t have definite answers to any of those questions, Ren, but I can promise you that I’ll do everything I can to help you get back so you can answer them for yourself.” He said softly before he reached forward and placed his hand on the top of Ren’s head. Comforting others had never been Naru’s strong suite but he gave himself the credit for trying.

Ren’s lower lip trembled as he felt the weight of Naru’s hand atop his head. He practically launched himself into his father’s lap, hugging him tightly. ”Thank you Daddy,” he said as tears soaked into Naru’s shirt. ”I’m sorry.”

Naru tilted his head slightly to the side completely confused, “Ren, what are you talking about?” *hic*

"I time-travel," Ren said slowly. "It’s triggered when I have really strong emotions, so I have to hold them in like you do with your power. When you and Mommy told me you were gonna have another baby, I got so excited I lost control and went farther than I’ve ever gone." He pulled his knees up to his chin. "I don’t know how I’m gonna get back."

Naru slid off of his chair and sat down next to Ren, hoping his facial expression was one of understanding, and not the complete shock he was feeling. “Well, um, I suppose until we can figure out how to get you back you’ll just have to stay here.”

Ren looked at the younger version of his father over his knees. ”Do you and Mommy miss me, in the future? How long have I been gone?” He sighed. ”I don’t know what you and Mommy are doing now, or even if I’ll get back.” Tears filled his eyes again, and he hid behind his knees. ”Mommy must be so worried.”

*frowns* “What’s to miss? *hic* Its quieter when he’s gone.”

"That's mean!" *grabs Naru's hand* "Don't be mean to Uncle Gene! You should apologize!"

((They’re no normal hiccups, they’re M!A Hiccups…and he’s really mad at me for accepting the M!A….He’s being fussy))

"Daddy! Don’t be fussy! Fussy is for babies!" *climbs into Naru’s lap* "Are you a baby, Daddy?"

"I like reading with Daddy better! But he’s always busy, so I have to read by myself a lot."

((Well~ He’s not working right now….though he’s got the hiccups at the moment….))

"Daddy has the hiccups? Those aren’t fun!" *pauses, thinking* "Kitten always holds her breath for ten seconds to make them go away. She also complains about her inner fish-person, though."
