i’ve recently been locking in at school since like 2nd semester js started and even though first semester didnt go too bad it could still go much better this semester yay!!!!

that being said i wanna give myself a little break and as a pat on the back read some byler fics🥹

sometimes i go on tiktok and look at all the sad and happy byler edits i have saved just to feel something

is soft launching that you ship byler to your fg and then getting dogged on by them for the following 2 weeks for it a canon event or was that just me

something that makes me even more upset is that they downplayed mike’s arc to be entirely about his “gf”

you’re telling me the entire plot of the first 2 seasons was him doing all he possibly could to get his best friend back yet in the end the worst trauma he can think of caused by everything is el disappearing in season 1 and not what was thought to be will’s dead body being pulled out of the river?

this same argument also applies to el! some of her happiest moments in the series are when she’s not with mike yet they still made her death all about him

On another note, I do have a small something to add the conformity gate…

We never specified WHY Will was taken, aside for the fact that Vecna could use his mind. We saw this in the way that Vecna claimed he became more powerful by doing so, and by using Will as a spy.

In the end credits, Will is classified as an Illusionist, which is confusing when Will has been classified as a Cleric, and recently, a Sorcerer.

In researching what an Illusionist can do in DnD, here is what I learned:

So here is my addition. Will is a traitor—maybe not by choice—and is helping keep the others in an illusion.

My guess here is that Will is keeping them in an Illusion that allows the others to become more vulnerable to Vecna. Which would allow Vecna to use them and become more powerful.

And it’s a stretch, but maybe the 11 other kids never truly existed because when we count the main characters in the room when Vecna is defeated, we get 12 “vessels.”

And a lot of what i’ve seen in the conformity gate, is that Mike is the one being Vecna’d. And thus I assume that we are giving Mike an illusion that makes him vulnerable—losing El, his life falling into conformity, people becoming who they didnt want to and doing things they didn’t want to do, etc.

We also were curious as to why Will wasn’t affected when the Hive mind died. And maybe that’s because it didn’t. Maybe Will & Vecna made that illusion and thus the Hive mind is still alive.

Thoughts? Or feel free to add your ideas to make it make more sense!

Dear conformitygate, even if youre not true, even if you are, thank you for pulling me out of my post-finale-they-ruined-all-my-favorite-characters depression and opening my eyes to the fact that Mike IS still gay asf and none of the finale was actually real.

But like- if conformitygate isnt canon... why is it literally canon? Why is it being proved through countless official pieces of content? Official accounts, official teasers, in the show itself, the inconsistencies are proven to be intentional. For why? Why is the epilogue so unsettling to the point it feels like a horror movie? Why are all the characters so out of character? Why did everything that was set up to not happen... happen? I saw what volumes 1 and 2 were setting up and the finale is literally the antithesis. And listen, the Duffers are fucking stupid, but you expect me to believe that theyre openly explaining away all their plot holes with "Oh yeah it happened offscreen" and "Oh that was just for shits and giggles." Like- what??

I dont want to believe in conformitygate but they're literally forcing my hand

okay but i feel like a fake out finale really does make the most sense. call me crazy but like?? everything about the epilogue felt too cliche and too disney. it was almost too good to be true…

also, not once in the entire show have we gotten mike’s pov on literally anything. and not only that, he’s really the only one of the wheeler kids to not have any “bond” to henry/vecna. he made nancy see the visions of hawkins in ruins and their parents getting attacked and holly was obviously one of the abducted children. however, where is mike in all of this? if you really think about it, he actually has ZERO connections to the upside down.

i probably sound insane and maybe this is just something to help me cope but at this point it doesn’t matter

also, i would like to add that mike isn’t just the only wheeler kid to not have a “bond” with vecna/henry, but he’s also the only one of the core four to not have any trauma inflicted upon him by vecna/henry or the upside down…

dustin watched one of his best friends and brother figures die at the hands of the demobats

lucas watched max clinically for a bit in his arms, just for her to go blind and be in a “coma” for a little less than a year and a half

will was abducted and used by vecna which resulted in his childhood being ripped away from him

and if you include max, she watched her brother be killed and was targeted by vecna the entirety of the 4th season
