First up to bat on my Ninja Tune posts is the Slugabed release 'Time Team'. Though released early July, I just scooped up the record yesterday. This 23 year old from Baths, UK is smelting Footwork and LA Beat and pouring the mix into a nintendo cartridge. This particular track sounds as if Rustie and Joker collabed to make a sonic the hedgehog soundtrack for the NES. The entire record has a hint of this recipe, but as a whole the tracks are very singularly unique. The vinyl edition comes with a translucent green bonus disc with 6 extra tracks. About to sink in to it about... now.

Lex Origins: "Drag Yo Feet"
Last night I was giving myself an education on Chicago Booty House/Ghetto House/ Juke/ and Footwork styles of dance music. I got schooled by a certain DJ Leto, and had to catch up with the times. Then, I stumbled on a variation of the genre called "Footdrag" or "Scuff" where the tempo is slowed down to 96bpm. Sorta the 'dubstep' of its region. This was THE track wikipedia pointed to, and is free for download on Soundcloud.
What you think about it?
Been Away, my 18 followers. Dropped all Blogging, and for the most part music hunting. All that changes now. Had to rearrange some thingies in my life, and now all is at peace. I just logged onto my favourite label's site and got hit with an avalanche of new releases I. MUST. BUY. Thank god I've been working Saturdays because my wallet's about to go bulimic.
So, starting tomorrow I'ma start a string of posts drooling over new stuff from Ninja Tune Town. Be excited.
In the meantime, I thought I'd post something triumphant that's puttin' pep in my step.

Emalkay just released a Flesh & Bone Remix EP on Dub Police yesterday.
Emelkay released a remix album for his single "Flesh & Bone" today. Though, not my usual cup of tea these days, I enjoyed the original version. It's as if The Bug's "Poison Dart" got sloppy drunk with Prodigy's "Fuel My Fire". I've decided to post this original version after giving the 3 remixes of the track a few tries. Unfortunately, this Dub Police release is a wasted effort. Not a mix on the EP does much to reformulate the track to fit it in any other genre. The remix artists simply phoned in genre-specific interludes to the track and hit save.
The Others Version throws a high-pass filter on the original track then brings the song to a full halt to cram in some shabby bro-step wobbles.
The Delta Heavy Remix does a decent job of fitting a frantic Drum and Bass pace onto the original... until the build-up. Similar to The Others version, only the track diverges to screeching synths colliding with fuzzy bass instead.
The Dismantle Mix is the only track that's worth it's price. Though it still continues the trend of random interjections, it's tech-house blip-bounces keep it far more interesting than it's peers. See what you think.
