Why are you always so late to every fandom, i ask myself.

Because it takes TIME and ENERGY to me.

If im not devouring the same show over and over again, im watching videos about it. If im not playing the game, im reading daily fanfics about it. If i tired every piece of media about it, im watching other's reactions to it. If i don't consume it, i daydream about it. And if it's stimulating enough for my brain, i even make up time to create art about it.

I don't get into a fandom, i absorb it and it absorbs me. Choosing what fandom i want to engage with is both a deliberate and taste driven decision. If something about it catches me, IT CATCHES ME.

I can't engage with the same intensity with everything. Not every fandom induces me to commit to it like this. So im either late or it doesn't click with me like that. And i want something that shakes my mind, that i get to find something meaninful in it that enhances my enjoyment, so i go slow.

Something I learned is if you don't step out of your artistic comfort zone a little, you're gonna be even more exhausted with making art. Your mind is a caged tiger and it needs to attack something new from time to time. Your mind is pacing in its enclosure 🐅

If you don't like drawing figures and poses because they're frustrating, draw figures and poses and get frustrated! Draw them! With anger! Swear and curse at them!

If you don't like drawing traditionally because there's too much room to make mistakes, draw traditionally and make mistakes! Scream while doing it! Put on scary music! Make it silly!

This goes for any kind of craft or skill

You stand to lose nothing in the end (Except maybe your own patience and sanity but that's temporary). But you do gain at least a little bit more knowledge and skill to feed your mind tiger
