He was a punk, she did ballet. Luke Patterson X Fem!Reader. SFW.
Luke Patterson x fem! reader.
Based off the Avril Lavigne song tehe.
"I am so sorry I'm late! Rehearsal went overtime today!" I say as I burst into the Patterson's garage.
I see the four boys that make up 4/5's of the band 'Sunset Curve' lying on the ground, the couch or sitting up on the loft.
"Again?" Luke asks turning his head.
"Well yeah I mean, its kinda hard to leave when your in the middle of a jete." I joke, putting down my dance bag.
"This is the third rehearsal." Bobby points out.
"I know, and I'm so sorry. Guys I really am."
Alex nods from his spot on the floor. "We know Eve, don't worry." I nod, biting my lip.
"Well, we can practice now." I say, watching as Reggie comes down from the loft.
"We can, or you can explain this." He says, handing me a binder.
"Oh no." I whisper as I leaf through it and see all my dance scholarship applications.
And the many papers and brochures on the Paris Opera Ballet School.
"I can explain..." I start.
"Were you going to tell us? now you want to go to Paris for dance, what happened to being in the band?"
Luke stands, I can tell how pissed he is from where I stood by the doors.
"I.... I was thinking it over and I came to the conclusion that you don't need me in the band." I stutter out.
"I know you guys can do it on your own, I'm dragging us down with the constant not showing up or showing up late."
Alex stands up and I notice how he looks like he belong in a rock and roll band, so does Bobby, Reggie and of course Luke.
"We want you in the band though, Eve you make us sunset curve." Reggie says.
"No I don't. You guys make us sunset curve, I came later. I'm able to leave and nothing would change. If Alex left you don't have another drummer, if Reggie left who does bass? All I'm just saying I sing, but so does everyone else. Maybe I need to do something else."
The boys stand there in silence, I pick up my dance bag and before I leave I turn to say:
"By the way, we perform on the 15th if you guys want to come. I know its ballet and its boring for some but I'm the lead dancer this year. I worked hard on this and I want you all to be there so.... I left tickets in the house if you want them."
"They aren't coming are they?"
I ask myself as I look out into the audience from the wings, My tutu and corset hitting the curtain as I step back.
"Eve you better go put on your shoes!" My best friend Tina comes up to me, I look back at her and nod.
"What's wrong?" She asks.
"Uh uh, don't pull that 'nothing' bullshit. I know you better then anyone. There is so something going on with you." I look at Tina as we enter our dressing room.
"The boys found out about my dance school applications and the Paris opera." I tell her.
I sit down and grab my pointe shoes.
"Oh my gosh, how did they react?" Tina sits on the ground next to me.
"Luke was super angry, Reggie was mad that I never said anything. Alex was quiet and bobby didn't say anything." I shrug and tie up my left shoe.
"What did you say when they found out?" Tina asks.
"That I'm really not needed in the band. I mean I'm not, I only sing." Tina looks at me like I'm crazy.
"Eve you are not just a singer! Girl you command attention when your on stage, and the boys will see that tonight."
Tina shakes her head and helps me stand up after I was done tying up my right shoe.
"Come on, your our lead dancer tonight. Let it all go, feel the music. You are going to kill it."
I lean my head on her shoulder. "Thank you, for everything." Tina smiles.
We take one last look in the mirror before going to chalk our pointe shoes up and get ready to go on stage.
I take one last look at the audience and see that my family was there, extended and all. They were coming back to my house of a party to celebrate my dance success.
Four seats in the third row were empty, Tina comes over and sees what I'm looking at. "Come on, lets go show everyone how we do things here."
Its about half an hour into the show as I make my way across the stage in a series of Pirouettes.
Every time I would look out into the audience those four seats were always empty, and I tried not to let it effect my smile while I danced but it faltered a little bit more every time.
I knew better then to let the audience see it though, people from all over the world of dance were here to watch the studio.
As I turn into a grand jete I spot one boy walking calmly into the third row, I see that its bobby and smile.
At least one boy showed up.
Bobby waves slightly and I grin at him to let him know that I see him.
I do a few more turns and then I go off stage to do my 10 Fouetté's for the finale.
I take a breath and re chalk up my shoes, I had about a minute left before I go on stage so I take another look at the seats where Bobby was.
Then I spot three boys running and speed walking through the aisle and pushing each other to sit beside Bobby.
I cover my mouth and can feel the excitement in my stomach, its like a million butterflies.
"They came!" I mouth to Tina on the other side of the curtain. "They did!" She grins.
I hear the finale music and I start to dance on stage again, I ended up doing 15 Fouetté's instead of ten. The mood of the crowd changed when I landed them all, it was like everyone let out a sigh of relief that I didn't hurt myself or fall.
I do a few more moves and then I end in a arabesque, balancing on my pointe shoes.
The curtain drops and Tina is the first to run out and hug me. "I'm so happy!" She cries "Me to!" I pull her in for another hug.
"And they came!" I shout with glee, "They did!" Tina shouts with me, making us laugh.
We get off the stage and the curtain rises for the bows, class by class goes and when it gets down to my class -the seniors- everyone is clapping and shouting.
I share a grin with Tina as the class leaves the stage, letting me walk on alone.
I walk on and the cheers get 10 times louder, people are on their feet the second I step on stage.
I smile and curtsy, a little girl walks out and hands me a bouquet of roses.
"Thank you!" I say and take one last look at the standing ovation I got.
Luke, Alex, and Reggie are screaming, jumping over each other and clapping while Bobby stands with a huge smile on his face while he claps.
The curtain closes again.
"You were insane, I've never seen you dance like that!" Tina says as I walk into the front door.
Everyone was already here, I had taken Tina in my car.
We still had on our make up and hair from the performance but I changed into black ripped jeans, a black bando top and a red leather jacket. I had on a pair of slippers cause my feet were killing me, but if I go out I'll put on a pair on ankle boots.
"Thank you, I mean I followed what you said. Feel the music." I shrug, we make our way up the stairs and when my family sees me they all shout.
I give everyone a hug and a thank you as they complement my dancing, I set the bouquet of roses in a vase in my room, taking the time to breathe.
I turn and see the boys standing in the doorway, "Honestly, you were incredible." Luke smiles, and opens his arms.
I walk over and wrap my arms around his neck, his arms going over my waist.
"I'm so proud. I'm so sorry I got mad."
I shake my head "Its ok."
I move onto Reggie next who looks like he's going to cry.
"You have to get in to any of those dance programs, your next level." I laugh, hugging the leather wearing boy.
Alex doesn't say anything, he just pulls me into the tightest hug I've never shared with him, I could feel him take a shuttering breath and I give him another squeeze.
Bobby is next and when I hug him he whispers "They boys cried when you took your bows, we are all so proud."
I pull back, holding onto his hands. "Thank you."
My mom opens the door and when she sees Luke, Alex, Reggie and Bobby her eyes narrow.
"What are you doing here?" She sneers.
"We saw Eve's performance, we just wanted to say how amazing she was." Luke explains.
"Her name is Evelyn, not 'Eve'. and her performance was a masterpiece. She's going to get into Paris Opera and leave that little no good band of yours."
I shoo my mom out of the room and shut my door again.
I lean against it with my eyes closed.
"Evelyn..." Alex starts "No, my name is Eve. don't start using my full name."
I feel someone pull me off the door and into their arms, I recognized the smell of pine and cinnamon as Luke.
"I'm sorry, I don't know why she's like this... tonight of all night." I say.
I see all the boys shrug "Nothing we can't take. Come on, we can take you out with Tina after all this." Reggie offers, I nod.
"Hey, Tina. The boys are gonna take us out after. Make sure your ready to leave in about 10." She nods
"Awesome! I can't wait." I smile
"Wonderful! Now can you keep my mom away from the boys, she's not doing her best at pretending to like them."
Tina sighs. "What did she say now?"
I wave my hand "I'll explain later." Tina shrugs "Alright, I'll be waiting."
"Eve! You did wonderful as always!" My cousin Samantha smiles.
She notices how on edge I am and looks over to see my mom eyeing up the boys.
"Oh don't listen to her. Whatever she says is a lie about those boys." Samantha was the only person in my family who fully supported me being in a rock band, and I loved her for it.
"come on lets get you a drink."
She leads me over to the drinks table.
"Oh Evelyn! I haven't seen you yet, how are you?" My aunt comes over and gives me a hug, "I'm doing amazing, and yourself?"
My aunt sighs. "I've been better! But back to you? How is school? any boys? ....are you still in the horrendous band?"
Samantha takes a sip of her drink and walks away, leaving me to deal with my aunt.
I sigh "School is wonderful! I'm at the top of all my classes and the lead in the musical. I do like a boy yes, and I am still in the band."
My aunt scowls "Your mother said you would be, darling why a rock band? Your a ballerina."
I look down at the drink in my hand, then look up at my aunt.
"Your right, I am. But the boy I like? He's a punk."
I walk over to Luke and grab his hand.
"And if you heard our new song then you would know the couple in it, well one is a punk and one does ballet." I shrug, my grandmother gasps and my family goes quiet.
Samantha gives me a thumbs up, Tina and Reggie look at each other and I reach down to grab my purse.
"Don't expect me home tonight." I tell my mom.
"But your a ballerina! Your poised and graceful and disciplined." She shricks.
"But thats when I'm dancing, tonight I'm in a rock band."
Luke squeezes my hand and together the band, me and Tina walk out of my house laughing.
"I can't believe you did that!" Tina shakes me back and forth "I can't believe I did that!" I laugh, holding her arms.
"What are you gonna do if you don't get into that ballet school now?" Reggie asks, I shrug.
"Then I'm in a rock band full time, if they'll have me back."
Bobby pulls all the guys aside and they huddle together, making Tina and I look at each other with a shake of our heads.
"The band has thought it over. And we will take Eve back! Under one condition." Alex announces, making me grin.
"She keeps dancing, and goes to Paris if given the chance." I smile at Alex, "of course. that is something I am willing to do."
The boys cheer and squish me in the middle of their group hug. I look up to see my mom and family staring at me from the windows.
I wave at them and shout "THE BAND IS BACK BABY!"
My mom rolls her eyes and goes to leave but Samantha stops her, I smile up at my cousin.
"Hey, wanna do something crazy?" Luke asks.
"Of course! You know I'm always up for crazy!" I smile.
Luke hand trails up and cups my jaw, his rings cold on my cheek as he leans in.
I end up sealing our kiss and throwing my hands around his neck, pulling him closer.
The boys and Tina go crazy, I end the kiss and look into Luke's eyes.
"Will you be my girlfriend?" He asks, "And piss of my family even more? Hell yeah!"
I press another kiss to his lips.
Luke cheers and I laugh, we look up to my family while walking towards my car so that we can all go celebrate.
I don't know what we were celebrating anymore if I'm being honest.
Maybe it was my dance success, or the fact that sunset curve had all its members back.
Or maybe it was because Luke and I got together.
but I couldn't care less what it was about.
All I needed was the windows rolled down, Luke's head out the window as he laughs and sings along to Bryan Adams.
Everyone in the backseat squished but still singing and having the time of their lives, I sang along and Luke and I's hands connected.
I mean, could life get any better?
