Lyrason college headcanons 🎓
This is mainly about their life at college together rather than what they're studying, which I did a post on here!! I'm not sure if studying to be a dancer includes written assignments, but if it doesn't just pretend it does lol. Give me my lyrason college novella 💔
As I mentioned in the linked post, I think Lyra would be studying to become a full time dancer and Grayson would study something like philosophy, literature, history or history of art, architecture.
They study at the library together from time to time but they also love staying at home sitting round their dining table and studying there
They sit across from each other and hold hands whilst they work on their own thing
Grayson geeks out over the architecture of the colleges and the libraries and yaps about it to Lyra
They explore the city on weekends and do all sorts of activities together, like pottery painting, going to a petting farm, museums and galleries
Lyra makes a list of all the restaurants and cafes she wants to try
They go to the formal events at the college together and get all dressed up
Morning swims and morning runs but this time without pushing themselves and just to enjoy each others company
Lyra starts therapy too for help with her PTSD so after their therapy sessions they go to different cafes and a buy little cake to share as a treat for themselves for being brave 🥹
Lyra teaches Grayson to cook because he’s always had meals made for him but it doesn’t work very well because he just stands behind her with his arms wrapped around her waist and she can barely move
Their go to meal is soup
They also bake together and when Great British Bake Off is on, they always make some thing that matches the weeks theme
They live in a big fancy expensive penthouse which obviously belongs to Grayson but all the decor and furniture is Lyra’s choice
Bunny patterned duvet sets and a bed piled high with cushions and blankets
Whimsy everywhere
Lyra was for some reason imagining that they would move into some standard dorm and completely forgot that if she’s living with Grayson Hawthorne, that would never happen
They did a massive stationery haul before classes started
They went shopping for homeware and Lyra was expecting a trip to IKEA but Grayson took her to the fanciest most expensive independent furniture boutiques
Eventually she convinces him to go thrifting with her and even though Grayson wanted simple uniform white plates and mugs, they end up getting whimsy mismatched secondhand antique tableware because thats what Lyra wanted 😌
Grayson brings home a bouquet of flowers for Lyra every week
They have matching slippers and a no shoes in the house rule
Grayson gets cold feet and wears Lyra’s fluffy animal socks around the apartment
They have 3 pet bunnies and they always pay a bunnysitter (some girl from a local high school or something) to look after them when they’re both out
Grayson’s insomnia starts to get a little better when living with Lyra because she makes him sleepy tea and cuddling up to her makes it a bit easier for him
Having said that, lot of the time they both end up going to class sleep-deprived because they plan to go to bed then they just stay awake for hours having late night conversations about anything and everything
Lyra has to force herself to stop because “How am I meant to dance half asleep, Grayson?”
Lyra asked for Grayson’s help once with citations then immediately regretted it because he launched into an hour long yap about the different referencing systems
They slow dance in their living room together to unwind
Lyra brushing her teeth whilst Grayson shaves next to her….. 🥹🥹🥹
They have different traditions for example on Tuesday they always have ice cream for dessert, or on Friday they always play Scrabble. Just them having ordinary moments together 🥰
They always proofread each others assignments
They went to one of those student unions/societies fairs and Lyra was so excited to join loads and get all the freebies they give out whilst Grayson was judging everyone and wanting to go home
She was stuffing her bag with free pens and badges
They're not the biggest partiers but Lyra enjoys them from time to time so they go but it's not really Grayson's scene. Usually he just goes to keep an eye on her drink
Lyra takes the recycling very seriously and teaches Grayson how to do it properly
Lyra's side of the bed is a mess because she throws everything on there then shoves it off when she needs to sleep then puts it back there later and never sorts it out, whereas Graysons side is immaculately neat and just looking over at Lyra’s side makes his blood pressure go up
Lyra is always stressed for the days they get their grades not because of her own, but because she can feel a meltdown incoming from Grayson when his perfectionist self gets lower than 100% 😭
Whoever gets home first will always open the door and wait outside when the other is nearly home and just attack them with the biggest hug
Their reunion after class everyday is as if they haven't seen each other for months
Their apartment is their pride and joy, it makes them both so happy that after horrible college experiences the first time round, they managed to get through and it and create a space that is so them, and rebuild their lives together 🥹
