I loved the first commission so much, I couldn't resist ordering another one as a parallel of sorts! This lovely drawing is by @toktopus-art. It's based on a scene from Chapter 26 of my vamp!Eddie/Steve-gets-Vecna'd fic, laughing at the broken glass.

If not for his all-too-casual tone, Steve wouldn’t have suspected anything. “Pulling out all the stops, huh?” Steve asked wryly. Eddie flashed a shameless grin at him. Chuckling, Steve tugged his sleeve down before lifting up his wrist. To his pleasant surprise, the glow-in-the-dark effect was actually noticeable. Eddie took a moment to share in the admiration of the bracelet before grabbing Steve’s hand and tugging it down. “This is better, yeah?” Eddie asked. “Huh?” Steve turned to look at him again, but Eddie was staring straight up at the sky. “Than just sitting in your car in the freezing cold by yourself, I mean.” “I had Freddie Mercury with me.” “I’m serious.” Eddie finally turned his head to face Steve again. His expression certainly matched his words. Steve couldn’t help but tense up at the shift in tone, though he was swiftly eased by the way Eddie’s thumb brushed across his knuckles. “I...hate that you even have to ask.” Steve managed to smile, even though Eddie frowned at that. “Yeah, this is better.” One song left. It wasn’t fair.

What is a man without his past? Mobius is a simple, middle-aged man who doesn’t know anything about himself. He’s empty, his only purpose has been the TVA for what he can remember. Then he met Loki (when he met him, it’s starting to be a point) and his glorious purpose suddenly became Loki. We can surely believe Loki is his only true friend. But, Mobius doesn’t know himself. He doesn’t know who he is. I mean: we all know who we are, where we came from, why we’re here right now, what we are now because of what we were before. A man who doesn’t know his past, is nothing. Brad was right, after all, even if his words were meant to be cruel. Mobius is suffering, it’s clear. Was that the right moment to eat a pie? Certainly not. But if Sylvie wasn’t there, Loki would have probably let Mobius eat the pie. For what it may helps, sometimes kindness and patience (two things Mobius knows very well) are the right response. Your friend is passing through a hard moment, let’s get him a pie, like Loki did in episode 2. Why not? Why not be kind? Was Mobius escaping? No, he wasn’t. In that moment they couldn’t do anything to fix the situation. Was that the wrong moment to ask for that pie? Yes, it was. Is that a reason to scream at him he’s selfish, that because he didn’t look for his own timeline that means he doesn’t care about anything? Fucking no. That’s the worst thing Sylvie could have said, and I swear, nothing will never make me appreciate her, not even a little bit. I’ve never liked her since the very beginning but this time she crossed a line. Since when does she care about the timelines and the TVA? She’s the freaking only reason they all are in this mess. Not this man below. This man below is just more alone than before, because he’s now fully convinced Loki left him behind because he agreed with the blonde variant and instead Loki is going to shut her mouth, telling her the wisest things. But Mobius doesn’t know Loki understands him. Mobius doesn’t know anything yet he’s always supportive and kind and the worst thing he has done in this show has been slapping a brat on the face and then calling him a “silly little man”.

I think the reason ofmd has the audience and rabid fandom that it does (and is also hated by certain people) is because David Jenkins is a slash shipper with a budget. His first thought on reading about historical Teach and Bonnet was "what if i made an AU where they wore cool outfits and kissed and fell in love and some of my favorite music is in it and there is barely any historical accuracy."

OFMD is literally his gay pirate fanfic. And when we watch ofmd, it is shipper to shipper communication. And because shippers are used to being treated like idiots in their fandoms, ofmd feels refreshing, because the guy making it is the original one putting the dolls together and making them kiss. He is an unwitting blorboism practitioner stumbling into an audience who have come to expect being baited and mocked saying "i too want to dress blackbeard up like a hard femme / leather daddy and make him cry about his boyfriend"
