I loved making this 10-panel slideshow Doodle for the inspiring Viola Desmond. She started her own beauty salon for black women and became a civil rights activist when she was thrown out of a movie theatre for sitting in the whites-only section. She always fought for the right to be included. (Tangentially, it’s also fun to be in Canada while a Doodle of mine is launching here 😊) (at Victoria, British Columbia)

Animated Doodle for Omar Sharif, who starred in Lawrence of Arabia and Dr. Zhivago, and who paved the way for people of color in Hollywood! Filmmakers lit him from the front when he was young and playing heroic parts, and gradually began to light him from the sides and back as he got older and started playing more nuanced characters.
