Hey! It means so much to know you read and enjoyed my writing! ♡
I ADORE Kunihiro, and so seeing you request a fic about him made me squeal with excitement! I'd been wanting to write another fic for him, so THANK YOU for requesting him! 😁

The sky outside was finally starting to fade from the burned orange shade of sunset, towards a purple painted with pink hues, as evening began to turn to night. The sun finally having set. It was getting late. Kunihiro had been hoping to get home earlier tonight. It had been a while since he had been able to spend a peaceful evening alone with his wife.
She had returned from a project that had required her to travel to the location a few hours away from their home. Luckily the problem hadn’t taken her away from Kunihiro for much more than a few nights, but even that was enough for him. He had missed her.
He had changed a lot since his marriage. Before, he had been a notorious womaniser. Planned to be a bachelor for life. He hadn’t disliked his lifestyle. He had enjoyed many beautiful women. But married life had taught him the joys of monogamy. Or at least, being married to his wife had. He doubted any other woman could have convinced him such joys existed, much less provide him with the happiness he had found with his wife.
He had planned to spoil his wife rotten upon her return, however it seemed anything and everything that could go wrong or require his attention sprouted up upon her highly anticipated return.
This afternoon had been a nightmare. First, he had to deal with an internal conflict with two projects fighting over one construction company. When he finally dealt with that conflict, Togo had knocked on his office door informing him an emergency board meeting had been called regarding a new company being founded who had been looking to poach clients from Myoshi Concepts and other companies in the area.
By the time Kunihiro was walking through the front door to the home he shared with his wife, it was no surprise that all he wanted was to spend time reacquainting himself with her, on their sofa, in their bed, in their shower. Wherever she would allow him.
The smell of dinner hit him as he entered their home, so he followed the sound of his wife pottering around in the kitchen. For a moment he paused in the doorway, watching her dance around their kitchen, oblivious to his presence.
It gave him the time to simply watch her. She had twisted her long, brown locks up into a messy bun, a few wisps curled around her cheeks, having escaped the bun. She had changed out of the formal clothes she’d left the house in this morning, now donning a comfy loungewear set, Kunihiro had gifted her on her birthday. Her bare feet padded across the hardwood floor. The image in front of him was picturesque. Domestic bliss.
Kunihiro couldn’t think of anything that could make this moment more perfect. The love of his life, dancing around their kitchen, preparing a meal for them to share together.
It was perfect.
Unable to hold himself back any longer, Kunihiro approached his wife, caging her in a warm embrace, placing a chaste kiss to her cheek, before tightening his hold and resting his head on her shoulder.
“Smells delicious” His whispered words sent a shiver through his wife’s body. A smile gracing her soft features.
“I made your favourites”.
“You are my favourite”. He responded, finally pressing his lips to hers, before heading off to set the table.
However, when he approached the table, he noticed it had already been set.
Candles provided a romantic lighting, and sweet vanilla scent. Music played quietly in the background, adding to the tender mood. A glass of wine sat in front of his place at the table, with a small rectangular box, gift wrapped, carefully positioned beside it.
Panic bled through Kunihiro.
Had he been so busy that he had forgotten an important date? It wasn’t his wife’s birthday; they had celebrated that a couple of months back. Though she wouldn’t have been gifting him a present had it been. It wasn’t their anniversary, that was still a few months away. No promotions. No big jobs completed to be celebrated.
He was stumped. He couldn’t think of anything.
When he turned to towards his wife, the panic ebbed. She was smiling softly at him. He noticed she seemed nervous. Her eyes seemed glazed, misty. As though she may cry. But she didn’t seem upset. She seemed happy. Excited, maybe?
When she took her seat at the table, placing their dinner plates on their respective mats, Kunihiro followed suite. Sitting in his place. The rectangular box staring back up at him, tauntingly.
“You could open it, rather than sit there worrying about what it may be”. His wife whispered; amusement laced her tone.
Kunihiro’s eyes shot up to meet hers. His mouth dry, he gulped a mouthful of his wine, before offering his wife a slight nod.
Picking up the gift, he noted that it was very light. The size of the box perfect to hold a piece of jewellery, such as a necklace or bracelet. But his wife had never gifted him either and with him still not understanding what could have possibly been special enough to warrant a gift from his loving wife, Kunihiro didn’t think jewellery would be what was waiting for him inside.
Heart racing, Kunihiro delicately tore the gift paper covering the box holding his gift. Slowly, he lifted the lid which had been obscuring his view of what lay inside. When he finally saw what awaited him, he could have sworn his heart stopped, skipped a beat, and then worked overtime.
He sat frozen for a moment. Only his wife’s nervous fidgeting brought him out of his daze. Meeting her eyes, he couldn’t fight the smile that fought to tug at his lips.
“I-is this what I think it is?” He stumbled over his words, pure excitement flooding his veins. His wife offered him a nod, a smile on her face matching his own.
“Does it mean what I think it does?” He asked, and his wife’s grin grew larger.
Tears spilling over her beautifully flushed cheeks. Kunihiro couldn’t help the tears that collected in his eyes and trailed down over his own cheeks.
He asked his wife one final question.
“We’re having a baby?”
“We’re having a baby”. His wife nodded frantically. You couldn’t have stopped the tears that fell between them.
Kunihiro had jumped out of his chair, dropping the positive pregnancy test that had sat in the box, before grasping his wife and spinning her around in his arms.
Pure excitement and happiness coursing through him. He pressed his lips repeatedly to his wife’s. Pressing kisses to her lips, her cheeks, her brow, her forehead, her neck, before finally bringing his lips back to hers once more.
When he had gotten home this evening and saw his wife dancing in their kitchen, he had thought things couldn’t be more perfect. Yet knowing that she is carrying his child, their baby, showed him just how much more perfect things were going to become.
*
As the months ticked by, Kunihiro’s excitement grew.
He attended all his wife’s doctors’ appointments. Putting copies of the baby scans on their fridge or keeping copies in his wallet, so he always had it close by.
Keeping the news of their pregnancy a secret during the first few months was difficult. Kunihiro was excited, he wanted everyone to know he was going to be a Papa. He wanted to shout it from the rooftops. While he would never tell his wife, he may have let the news slip to Kuranosuke that they were expecting slightly earlier than they agreed. But she couldn’t be mad, Kunihiro thought, he was just excited, and he needed to tell someone, so why not his best friend?
The day they found out they were having a little girl, Kunihiro felt his heart burst. A little girl. He hoped she would look like her Mama. The woman he adored and would make him a father. Something he hadn’t know he wanted, until that evening when he opened the greatest gift he had ever received.
His wife had had to stop him many times from buying baby items every time they went shopping. She had returned home from work one evening to eight different parcels, containing all sorts of baby items that Kunihiro had ordered while he should have been preparing for his reforms meeting. He had also decorated what would be the baby’s room. A light sage room, with a plush grey carpet, had a cot set up along the back wall. Drawers which held baby blankets, bibs, nappies, and wipes, with a changing mat on the top, and a cupboard, already full of baby clothes, lined another wall. A box sat in the corner of the room, filled to the brim with the numerous toys Kunihiro had purchased for their baby. And a wooden rocking chair sat beside the window, a knitted throw draped over the back.
The only argument he and his wife had had during her pregnancy was her refusal to give up work during her pregnancy. Kunihiro worried she would become too stressed and take on too many projects. When his wife stubbornly denied his request, he ordered Kuranosuke to ensure she did not overwhelm herself with work.
Everyone told Kunihiro he would feel nervous the closer his wife’s due date got. However, each day just brought Kunihiro more joy. Each night after work, he would rub his wife’s swollen, aching feet and tell her how much he loved her, how proud he was of her for carrying their child, how he hoped their little angel would be just like her Mama. Then he would rub moisturiser over his wife’s growing bump, whispering words of love and happiness toward his little girl, before placing a kiss on the bump. He promised himself he would do that every night until he could place a kiss on his little girl’s brow instead.
*
The night Kunihiro’s wife went into labour, was the only night of this pregnancy that broke his heart. Her cries that accompanied each contraction clawed at him. He wished he could take away her pain. He wished he could do something more to help than just offering her a hand to squeeze and chest to cry into.
He whispered words of love, and affirmation over and over. He told her how proud he was. How well she was doing. He tried not to take offence at the expletives she threw his way. He tried not to chuckle when she adamantly informed him, she would not be birthing anymore of his children.
Yet when they heard the powerful wails of their baby girl arrive in the early hours of the morning, everything else faded away. All Kunihiro saw, was his beautiful wife and the small baby girl she had just brought into the world.
While his little girl showed the world how powerful her lungs were with her cries, Kunihiro noticed the full head of thick hair, which had a slight wave to it, dark like his own. As the midwife rested their little angel on his wife’s chest, Kunihiro found himself immediately drawn to them.
To his girls.
He hadn’t thought himself capable of love. Not until his wife. Yet now, once again, another was showing him he was capable of love.
His little girl.
Kunihiro watched his girls together, the wails of his little angel having quietened, she now slumbered peacefully in her Mama’s arms. And for the first time, Kunihiro got to do what he had waited months to do. He pressed a soft kiss to his little girl’s brow, careful not to wake her.
As he pulled back, he placed a similar kiss to his wife’s sweat covered brow, gently brushing her matted hair back from where it stuck to her forehead. His gaze traced lovingly over her beautiful face, as he thanked whatever divine being brought this magnificent, strong woman into his life.
And when his wife’s eyes met his and she offered him a blinding smile, the hours of pain long forgotten, Kunihiro promised himself then, he was going to be the greatest Papa and Husband to his girls. He would provide them with everything they would need. He would teach his little one anything and everything he possibly could.
After taking his girls home and watching as his wife swayed with their daughter in her arms, humming a soothing tune, Kunihiro made one more promise.
One he would tell his wife one day soon.
As soon as she was ready, he wanted to fill their home with more little angels.
Because nothing had ever filled him with so much joy and happiness, than this moment, right here with his wife and daughter.
This, he thought, this was perfect.
Hi! I loveee your writing! If it's fine with you I'd like to request a crossover of Irresistible Mistake & OISY. It's where Shunichiro and MC are already married but MC is from the Miyoshi Concept of OISY & didn't meet as a fling. So the scenario is like this Shunichiro has been acting strange since morning. Like he looks at the door often which he was actually waiting for his wife as their in a Collab with them. So their surprised when he hugged & call her wife as they didn't know he's married.
Hey! Thank you so much! It means a lot to know that you've enjoyed my writing! ♡
I LOVED the sound of this scenario, and it had me thinking about how I could do your idea justice! 😊
I hope you enjoy this and I've managed to capture the essence of what you were hoping for! And thank you for trusting me with your idea! ☆

A bustle of nervous energy, thick as a fog, filled the halls of Addison & Rhodes offices. A nervousness unlike any the employees had ever experienced before. It wasn’t the typical anxious excitement from the team preparing for a meeting, or the worried jitters of the new hires about to experience their first assignment.
No. This nervousness was different. Why? Well, for starters because the person who seemed bursting with nervousness wasn’t a new hire aiming to please their bosses, nor was it the team leaders excited to begin a new project.
It was Mr Tachibana. Creative director of Addison & Rhodes. The man who had always been known for his brilliance, calm, collectiveness. A man all within the company look to for guidance.
The man who could face any challenge a project threw his way without batting an eye or displaying any sort of weakness, now strode back and forth, between his office and the conference room where a meeting with another company was scheduled to take place in less than 10 minutes.
He had treaded the same path between his office and the conference room so frequently that morning, it was a wonder he had not left a threadbare path in the carpet on the route he had taken.
Toma and Natsume watched as Mr Tachibana strode once more through the thick doors to the conference room which had already been prepared not once, not twice, but three times this morning after Mr Tachibana had deemed it lacking.
Demands had been directed in all directions. The water is too warm, prepare some more. Also bring a few extra bottles in case the three iced jugs already prepared would not be enough. Also make sure there is hot water available should that be preferred.
The coffee had to be remade, as Mr Tachibana had feared it may be too bitter. Then again, as the second batch seemed too weak. The regular mugs used during conferences had been deemed inadequate by Shunichiro this morning, and so the company’s best were fetched out of storage for the meeting.
Neither Toma, nor Natsume, could decipher why their boss had suddenly become so stressed about a regular initial meeting with another company to discuss a collaboration. Neither had been informed of the meeting being a level that required such anxiety. Had they underprepared themselves? Surely, their already anxious leader would have informed them if they were ill prepared.
Five minutes before the meeting, the employees of Addison & Rhodes required for the meeting filed into the conference room.
Toshiaki entered the room, noting his friends tension offered a quiet chuckle as he attempted to take the empty seat to Shunichiro’s right. The seat he occupied every meeting in which both attended. It had become an unspoken rule that when both were present, the chair at the head of the table, and the one to its right were to be occupied by the duo. However, before he could even begin to lower his body into the seat, Shunichiro stopped him, pushing the chair firmly back under the table. Toshiaki glanced at his friend; eyebrow quirked. Shaking his head, he moved further down the table.
The other employees, having witnessed the exchange, shared cautious glances. Who could they be meeting? So important that they would be taking the seat directly besides the creative director, rather than sitting at the opposite end of the table, like all previous meetings saw.
The five minutes leading up to the meeting seemed to pass by at a snail’s pace. Mr Tachibana, however, seemed to become even more fidgety.
The employees present had watched him rearrange the placement of his pens, at least, seven times. The latest placement returned them to their initial spots.
His eyes had moved between the door, his watch, and the conference room clock, repeatedly. If he wasn’t watching the clock, he was watching the door.
And when he wasn’t watching the door, he was guzzling glass after glass of ice-cold water down, as though his life literally depended on it.
Finally, the conference room door opened, Kunihiro Kasai, the managing director of Miyoshi Concept entered first. Toma and Natsume shared an even more confused look. Miyoshi Concept were a good company. Toma had had the privilege to work with them on previous works, but neither could imagine why this meeting could have caused their boss so much stress.
Following Mr Kasai into the room was the team he had clearly selected for the collaboration. Kuranosuke Kiba, Shu Hasunuma, Ukyo Senkawa, Eiji Takao.
As the door closed behind Eiji, Shunichiro’s eyebrows drew together. Frustration marred with confusion filling his gaze.
“Is this everyone?” The words almost sound like they’re spoken on a low growl. Disappointment laced in his tone. The Addison & Rhodes employees were tense, silent. You could hear a pin drop despite the full conference room. They had never heard the tone the words were spoken come from their boss before.
Luckily, Mr Kasai didn’t seem offended by the tone in which he had been spoken to. He simply chuckles and shakes his head.
“My apologies, Mr Tachibana, I do have one more member of my team to join us, she –”
Before the other man could even finish his sentence, the conference room door was opening once again, all eyes turned towards the sound, and a pretty, brunette entered the room, a smile gracing her cherry lips, her blushed stained cheeks reddening further as she felt all eyes on her.
However, it was the next moment that seemed to really deepen her blush.
Mr Tachibana’s chair screeched, as it scrapped along the ground, almost falling over in his haste to jump up out of his seat. He seemed to rush towards the woman who had just entered the conference room. Panic flared in the eyes of the employees seated at the table. Was he angry she was late? Surely, he would not react so overtly if he was.
But it was the next moment that shocked everyone more.
They watched as their boss pulled the woman firmly to his chest, caging her in his arms, and nuzzle his nose into the crook of her neck, inhaling her hair.
“Shun…” The soft murmur of his name, fell from her lips, while she sounded shocked, she spoke his name with such love. Returning his embrace.
“I missed you, Mrs Tachibana”.
Audible gasps ricocheted around the room, appearing to echo around the walls.
Taking her hand in his, Shunichiro led her towards the seat directly beside his own. Pulling her chair out, and directing her to take the seat, before Shunichiro gazed out across the table and took in the shocked expressions on his employees faces.
Shunichiro saw Toma and Natsume with their mouths agape, eyes wide. Toshiaki’s subtle smirk and shake of his head at his friend’s caveman like behaviour despite being at an important meeting.
Yet he simply smiled. His nervousness and excitement from waiting for her to arrive finally dissipating, now she sat beside him. Her delicate fingers fiddling with her documents in front of her. The diamond ring he had put on her finger months earlier, glistening under the conference room lights.
Warmth flooded his chest and with every ounce of pride, Shunichiro loudly declared towards the room, with his eyes firmly fixed on the beautiful woman who held his heart sitting beside him,
“Now my wife is here, the meeting can begin”.
Ok, it's been a minute since I was on here, but life's been hectic 🫠
I finally managed to read Kuranosuke's and Shu's season 3's and Togo's season 2... and has life made me emotional, or were these stories emotional for everyone else, too? 🥺

The crisp, morning breeze drifted through the open window. The cool air signalling the change from Summer to Autumn. The leaves on the trees had transformed, the vibrant greens long gone, replaced by reds, oranges and yellows. Some trees already shedding their coats.
The days becoming shorter, the nights longer. The chill to the air inviting cosy sweaters, warm socks and hot chocolates to accompany the mellow evenings. While the autumnal sun offers a welcome warmth melting the cold away.
Autumn brought about its own festivities. Pumpkin patches, apple picking, long scenic walks through the everchanging shrubs. Drinking pumpkin spiced lattes, and tasting new desserts, all seasoned with various amounts of cinnamon.
Autumn was a time which brought about so many wonders, and celebrations. And this autumn was no different. Except, for me, it brought about one celebration which would be remembered and celebrated for years to come.
Our Wedding.
When I had found myself legally married to my husband all those months ago, I could never have pictured we would end up here. Holding an actual wedding. Our friends and families attending, watching as we exchanged our vows, cementing our love and commitment to each other for evermore.
Yet as I stand in front of the tall mirror in front of me, eyes scanning over the lace and tuffs of my white wedding dress, it couldn’t be more real.
Or more daunting.
Terrifying, really.
My hands carved waves through the soft fabric which hugged my waist. The dress offered an elegance. The lacey sleeves sit tight to my shoulders, as the neckline dipped down. A spiral lace pattern covered the top half of the pure white dress, before it flowed subtly beyond my waist.
I hardly recognised myself as the person looking back at me from the mirror. My hair styled in loose curls, pinned up. A veil flowing down my back. A simple chic make-up look finishing the style. I almost couldn’t believe it was me.
The bouquet grasped in my white-knuckle grip shook as my nerves settled in. They planted like seeds, taking root and sprouting throughout my body.
I had never wanted to get married. It wasn’t that I had been opposed to such commitment, it just never appealed to live my life for a man, like my parents had so desperately wanted for me. I loved my job. I wanted a career. Relationships had always come second, or third, fourth, fifth or so on.
But then I found myself in the most ridiculous of circumstances. Legally married, to suit our own benefits.
And then everything changed.
I fell in love. In love with a man who didn’t want me to give up on my career, rather he actively supported and encouraged me. I fell in love with a man who I didn’t mind giving up some of my freedoms and space for, rather I wanted to spend those times with him.
How could I have dreamed up a more perfect man for me? Well, I couldn’t.
My husband was a wonderful man. Truly. Years of working for the same company, watching him work and learning from him had shown me how wonderful a man he was.
Yet despite how wonderful he is… my body still shook. Crying out for me to run. Sneak towards the back exit, before any of our friends or family could spot me.
I never would, of course. I could never hurt the man I adored so reverently due to a fear.
A fear I knew was irrational. Why? Because we were already married, and I adored the relationship we shared. Today was simply a celebration of our love with those we cared for.
A reminder that did nothing to diminish my nerves.
Thinking I could use some fresh air to help calm myself, I opened the door to the dressing room. However, I soon stopped in my tracks.
There on the floor sat a crisp white envelope, with my name scrawled across in my husbands notable handwriting. A bouquet of roses perched beside it.
I couldn’t stop the tug of my lip as a smile bloomed across my face. Even looking up and down the corridor in an attempt to catch a glimpse of my husband, only to come up short didn’t diminish the grin.
Returning to the dressing room, I tore the envelope open, and was greeted with a simple note;
I’m so glad you are my wife, and I cannot wait to show everyone else just how much I adore you
Tears brimmed in the corner of my eyes. How could he have known that this note would give me a little more courage to step through those doors? He couldn’t have known how nervous I was?
And yet, that one sentence, showed just how well he truly knows me.
Minutes later, I found myself standing outside the heavy wooden doors. Beyond those doors, our guests and my husband await my appearance. My nerves, once again reappearing.
The sound of the instrumental began, floating through the closed doors, before they slowly pulled open.
And as I raised my head, my eyes drifting to meet his, the smile he gave me in that moment, and the tears glistening in his eyes as I stepped forward, seemed to make all the nerves disappear.
He was it for me.
He was my yesterday. My today. And my tomorrow.
The man who had stolen my heart when I didn’t even realise it was available to be taken.
And he was the man who could make all my last minute jitters, go away.
Never Again

Numbness.
I felt nothing as I hurried from the office block of my latest client.
Uncertainty consumed my only thoughts. In fact, even if it did not, I fear it would be impossible for me to generate any other thoughts right now.
Except thoughts of what had just occurred inside the office I wished never to return to.
How long had it been since I had escaped the suffocating air of that room? How long had I been running for? Wait… when did I start running?
As one new thought followed the next, another realisation dawned on me.
I was soaked.
Rain.
A mirthless laugh escaped my tightly drawn lips. The downpour matches my chaotic mind. Ironically, while I seemed unable to produce any new thoughts, my mind had no problem replaying the scene from that office over and over again. On repeat. As though a broken record was tirelessly looping.
Looking down at my slightly dishevelled clothing, a sigh escaped me. Bottom lip trembling, my eyes began to sting from the unshed tears forming at their edges.
I, so desperately, did not want to cry. Especially not here.
That man did not deserve my tears.
My hand still stung and burned red from the impact of the palm meeting cheek. Yet that hurt far less than what had occurred in the moments before.
The feel of his firm grip still imprinted itself on my hips. The smell of his cologne lingered, proving just how closely he had pressed himself against my back. I dreaded the thought that any lingering marks would still be present on my skin come the morning.
I felt sick.
But what I feared more… was the repercussions my actions would have on the company. My manager… my husband.
What would his reaction be to hearing I had raised my hand at a client?
There was no way the client would have informed my company of what had truly transpired inside that room. There were no other individual’s present. No witnesses to his unacceptable actions. So, there was no way my bosses would be aware of why I had acted how I had. Not that I would expect them to condone my actions. Understand, maybe.
I opted not to return to the office today. They could scold me tomorrow. I didn’t have the sanity to endure a lecture now.
Right now, I needed a shower. I wanted to scrub this dirty stench off of me. I hated the sensation of his hands on me. Why could I still feel his hands on me? The chill from the rain had successfully numbed my body… but it hadn’t, couldn’t, numb the feel of his grip.
Entering the home I shared with my husband, I cautiously placed my shoes out of the way. It's funny how, even in times of emotional turmoil, routine still managed to guide me through my actions. I headed straight towards the bedroom.
I discarded my phone haphazardly onto the bed, ignoring the abundance of messages and missed calls littering its screen. They didn’t matter. I’d deal with them later.
Finally, I headed into the bathroom. Stripping myself bare, I could not have escaped the soiled clothing any quicker.
But that was neither quick enough nor remotely enough to ease the sickening feeling in my stomach.
Initially, I blasted my body with icy cold water, praying the shock would drag me out of the spiral I found myself in.
But it didn’t.
So, turning the dial to the shower, I made it as hot as I could bare. Truthfully, it was hot enough to lightly scold my skin. Anything to feel something other than filthy. Anything other than his touch.
Still, that wasn’t enough.
Soon, I was scrubbing roughly at my skin. Scrubbing until I was red, raw, as though I could delete any sign of him. Grazes left in the aftermath.
Still… it wasn’t enough.
Suddenly, a wave of vertigo took over. My legs crumbled beneath me.
As the water from the shower continued to fall upon me, I pulled my knees into my chest. I wasn’t sure what I was focusing on, but that small speck on the edge of the bath, just below the tiles, soon captured my full attention.
I became oblivious to my surroundings. But the pounding of my heart became deafeningly loud as relived that moment. Over, and over.
Somewhere in my dazed state, I could hear the sound of my name. The tone that called out to me sounded panicked. Out of breath.
Was that the sound of someone banging? Never mind. I wanted to be alone. The banging would go away soon enough.
And it did.
Except the next moment, I found myself pulled from my daze.
When I flinched. The sensation of firm hands gripping my bare shoulders caused me to recoil from their owner.
But when I looked up, I was met with the fearful, concerned eyes of my husband. My tyrant manager, but loving husband. My Kuranosuke.
And it was the sight of him that caused the tears I had held back for so long to finally cascade down my cheeks. The floodgates opened, and suddenly, I couldn’t hold back any longer.
Kuranosuke, obviously surprised by my fragile state, joined me. Sitting beneath the hot flowing shower, pulling me into a reassuring embrace, despite still being fully clothed. His shirt clung deliciously to his toned chest, a sight I would normally ogle more but right now I didn’t have the ability to focus on anything beyond the tears cascading down my cheeks and the feeling of filth coating my skin.
His fingers ran soothingly through my wet locks. His other hand held me tightly to his chest. I felt as he gasped when he noticed the redness of my skin. The bruises, obviously the shape of hands, on my hips and neck. The indentation of teeth in my shoulder, now purpling as the trauma my body had endured, surfaced.
I’m sure if he looked hard enough, he would find more.
But I didn’t want him to look. I didn’t want anyone to see the marks. As his gaze roamed over my body, the anger steaming from him, I felt shame crawl up my body.
I felt weak. I felt embarrassed. And I wanted to hide from the world.
I had been doing my job. A job I was good at. But being a female in an industry dominated by males, saw a male client believe I needed to use my body to be capable of doing my job. That I should service his needs with my body rather than my working ability.
Shame mixed with anger, and my tears continued to fall.
I wasn’t sure when he had moved us, but I found myself pulled from my thoughts, and wrapped in a fluffy cotton towel, and Kuranosuke’s gentle hands, carefully, drying my body.
I didn’t mean to flinch when his hand ghosted my hip, but the hurt that briefly passed his eyes before a mask of indifference slid into place told me he had noticed my movement.
“Y/n… When you are ready, will you please tell me what happened?” Kuranosuke’s whisper breezed by my cheek. “I knew something was wrong when you didn’t answer your phone, when you didn’t come back to the office after your meeting… and when the client phoned claiming you had had an outburst… I knew something didn’t add up”
I shuddered. He wasn’t angry at me for not answering my phone. He hadn’t questioned my actions before finding me. He knew me. He knew how I worked. And he knew that if I had acted out, that I had done so with reason.
“H-h-h-he t-t-t-touched m-m-me” I hated how my voice trembled, and I stumbled over the words. But in this moment, I felt weak, I felt scared, but I was in the arms of someone whom I could be vulnerable with. Who I trusted to see me when I felt my weakest.
Kuranosuke’s eyes turned murderous. They trailed the marks, which poked out from the his t-shirt he had given me to wear.
Taking a deep breath, I continued, “He insinuated, as a woman, the only thing I was good for was being in his bed. Being his play thing. He wasn’t interested in my concepts. He didn’t want to talk business with me. And when I stood up to leave, he cornered me. A-a-and… well y-you can s-see the r-rest…”.
I pressed my tear streaked face into Kuranosuke’s warm, welcoming chest. His arms tightened around me. Protecting me. Offering me a place to hide from the world.
“Kunihiro asked me to call him once I found you. He was worried, too. He knows you’re a good worker. He was worried about what could have caused you to rush out of a meeting and not answer your phone to anyone…”My husband brushed a gentle kiss to my temple, inhaling the scent of my shampoo as his nuzzled into the top of my head. “I’m going to call him –”
“NO!” I interrupted him slightly too loudly. Wincing I continued, “Sorry… but no, don’t. I’ll call him. I owe him an apology for disappearing like I did, and for striking a client”
“Don’t even think about apologising for that! Y/n, what that man did was disgusting. He never should have laid a hand on you, insinuated you were less capable of doing your job than a man, and he will not be a client of ours. I assure you of that”.
I offered my husband a small smile, grateful for his anger on my behalf, before pressing a chaste kiss to the corner of his mouth.
“I have a call to make.” As I picked up my phone, Kuranosuke slipped his fingers through mine, offering my hand a tight, supportive squeeze.
“I’ll be right here, with you”.
Nodding once, I returned one of the many missed calls littering my phone.
---
15 minutes later, I shut my phone off. Releasing a sigh, I didn’t realise I had been holding.
As I stepped out of the bedroom and into our living room, Kuranosuke stood from the sofa, offering me a steaming cup of chamomile tea.
“I thought it might help you relax slightly, I know you’ll be feeling tense, but I wasn’t sure what to do…” He mumbled uncertainly.
“Thank you… just being here for me is enough”
I offered what I hoped was a tentative smile.
“Kunihiro has given me some time off. Once I told him my side, he asked me to go into the office tomorrow to make a formal complaint. He’d like me to take some photographs of my injuries for HR. He said I won’t be reprimanded for striking the client. And that he will be informing them that we won’t be working with them unless they remove him from the company”.
Kuranosuke hesitated for a moment before finally reaching his hand out to place it on my thigh. He watched carefully, and when I didn’t shudder under his touch, he brushed it soothingly over my thigh. I snuggled in closer to his side. We fit together perfectly, like we were made for each other.
I felt safe.
And for the first time since I escaped that office building, I the feeling of disgust that had wrapped around my neck, strangling me, finally dissipated.
As I began to relax into his side, I felt my husband too relax into me. As he pressed a soft, loving his to my temple, I felt the brush of his whispered words…
“Never again will I let you walk into danger. Never again…”
And never before had I felt so comforted by such a promise.
I adore it. It's as if it is written specially for me, because I'm a die hard for this topics. I love hurt/comfort more than I love anything in this world. It's what keeps me alive.
Destroy the characters, broke their bones, and push their mental limits only for later to put a band aid and a kiss on their forehead, while cuddling them in the warmest blanket and tightest hugs.
Do I have to say that I adore how you write? I will say it over and over again. I can read this everyday for the next 5 years and never get enough. Thank you for it and for making my day. Can't wait to read your next works.
And last, but not least: SOFT KURANOSUKE IS THE BEST KURANOSUKE!!!
@kamyru urgh you have no idea how much reading this has made my day 🩷 I'm so glad you enjoyed reading it!

With Daimon Togo's route being released soon, there is the dilemma of, do I patiently wait until part 2 comes out and binge read it all in one go... or do I read part 1 straight away and have the agonising wait for the second part to come out
Ok, since I've made the decision to try really hard to wait until both parts are out... can someone please tell me, does he live up to all the expectations? Is he as perfect as we've been imagining he'll be for months?!?
He is better than the expectations.
Imagine the best man alive and Togo is even better.
At least it was for me.
@kamyru I'm smitten with what I've imagined, so knowing he's even better makes me even more excited to read him 😊🥰

This is the final chapter to A Past Long Forgotten? My first attempt at a multiple chapter fic!
Thanks to those who have read it, I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it! ♡
The ticking of the clock filled the silence of Eisuke’s suite. Having changed out of her racy dress and into some joggers and an oversized t-shirt, she made herself comfy on his plush sofa. Her legs crossed and a steaming coffee in her hand.
Upon their return to the hotel, everyone had dispersed, making various excuses for needing to return to their rooms immediately. It was obvious they were being considerate. Allowing Eisuke and MC some time to talk.
While she was thankful for their consideration, the thought of being alone with Eisuke to discuss them had her feeling nervous.
Uncharacteristically so.
Like she was that seventeen year old girl who was totally besotted with him all over again.
Well, it wasn’t the farthest thing from the truth.
She knew very well she was in love with Eisuke. But having to close those feeling off for the last seven years, the idea of them being brought out again had her heart racing.
Eisuke sat on the same sofa. Holding an identical cup of coffee. This had a familiar feeling to it. Odd, considering Eisuke and MC hadn’t been a couple for almost a decade. Odd considering all the time they had spent apart.
Yet this felt right.
She could sense his eyes on her. She tried desperately not to acknowledge his look. Not to look back. For should she look back, the comforting silence would be broken, and deeper discussions would fill that silence.
Why was she so nervous? It was Eisuke, for goodness sake! She had known him since they were kids. Except… he wasn’t just Eisuke anymore… he was THE Eisuke Ichinomiya. The Hotel King. The very Eisuke Ichinomiya, who sat on her agencies blacklist, yet never acted shady enough for them to investigate him too thoroughly. Although spending time with him and on her mission involving Spencer had taught her, he was just very good at covering his tracks.
“MC…” His voice told her she wasn’t going to be lucky enough to avoid this discussion forever. She looked up. Their eyes meeting. “Your eyes really are the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen. They always held me captive when we were younger. They drew me straight to you when you came to my hotel before, and even now. I can’t help losing myself in them” He whispered sweetly.
“Eisuke…” She had barely whispered his name.
“Dinner, 7:30pm, every day while you are on your break from missions.” He commanded.
She looked at him in surprise. Dinner? She thought he had wanted to talk?! Reading her facial expressions like a book, Eisuke smirked.
“Look… I haven’t forgotten what I said. I want to talk. But I think we should have that talk once we have spent some time just going on a few dates. I want to hear about what the last seven years have been like for you”.
“Ok! That sounds good!” She smiled. Getting up from the sofa, she started heading towards the kitchen with her cup.
“MC?” Eisuke asked, confused.
“It’s late, I should be heading back. Don’t tell me… you’re going to miss me that much?” She joked, smiling at his pouting face.
“Stay here, I have a spare suite you can use for the night” Eisuke offered, although it sounded more like a command.
“Sure, thank you Eisuke” She smiled gratefully, knowing if she refused, he would probably tell her she would be staying in his suite instead so he could ensure she was safe.
Satisfied with her response, Eisuke showed her to the spare suite she would be using for the night. Lingering at the door for a moment, Eisuke combed his fingers gently through her locks before pulling his hand away and heading back to his own suite.
Her heart was racing. God, she loved this man. And starting tomorrow night, they would be going on daily dates, getting to know what the other had been up to these last seven years.
Then… then they would talk.
***
It had been almost 2 weeks of evening dates with Eisuke. Dinners, walks, movies. Eating French, Italian, English, Chinese, and Japanese cuisine. Watching romances, actions, comedies. They had been sweet, romantic date settings.
But not only that, they had talked about so many different things.
She had told Eisuke fully what had happened when she had been kidnapped. How she had found the EAC. How she had been hired. Some of the sort of missions she had been on (hiding the details too confidential to spill). How she had contacted Luke due to injuries and what sort of injuries she had had.
Eisuke told her about his time at university. How he felt when Akira asked him to take over the Ichinomiya Group. When he had developed his first hotel. How he had met the other bidders. The reasons behind the auctions.
They had both discussed how their families were doing. And then other topics, such as dating in the last seven years, reminiscing over school days. Reminiscing over their relationship.
And with each date, she felt herself falling deeper and deeper in love, all over again, with Eisuke.
Tonight was no different. They were discussing the usual topics. Yet when 10pm came, and they made it back to the hotel, neither wanted to say goodnight like they had done every night previously.
“MC…” Eisuke spoke, his hand combing through her hair. Her eyes meeting his, “Saying goodnight, and going our separate ways each night, it is my least favourite part of the evening”
“Mine too.” She blushed. She didn’t want to say goodnight and not be falling asleep with him. “Hey Eisuke—”
Yet, just as she went to ask him to stay with her, he interrupted her.
“Come back to my suite with me?” He asked, his voice seductive in her ear.
“I’d like that” She responded without hesitation. Accepting Eisuke’s hand, she followed him up to his suite.
Eisuke wrapped one arm around her shoulder, encouraging her to snuggle into his side, resting her head upon his shoulder. He rested his head on hers and wrapped his other hand around her own. His fingers ghosting circles across her arm and palm.
“I told you we would talk when we got back. And while I typically am not a man who expresses his emotions to others, I believe I cannot ask you to tell me how you feel, without telling you how I feel. So, I am going to go first… then you, ok?” Eisuke spoke gently to her. She nodded from her place in his arms.
His grip tightened slightly, seeming as though he was nervous. Uncharacteristic of the him he portrayed to others. After taking a calming sip of his coffee and placing down the cup, he began opening up to her.
“When you disappeared seven years ago, I searched for you every day. I swore I would find you. I locked my heart away until I found you and could return it to you. You had my heart throughout our youth. You were the only one worthy of my heart. I believed that would be the case for always. But no matter how much I searched for you, you were gone. No trace. As if you never existed. I won’t lie to you, over these last seven years, I have had many meaningless nights with various women. Truthfully, it was to fill the void left by you being gone. But no one could fill the void. I was always me, but I felt myself becoming colder and harsher. So, when I saw you again that night at my hotel, in my casino, I felt my heart begin to thaw. I knew it was you, immediately. I have never met anyone with eyes like yours. But you ran. I was hurt but also relieved. You were alive. And if you were alive, it meant I could find you. Finding you showed me that my heart still belonged solely to you. My feelings had not changed in these seven years. MC… not once did I stop loving you. Wanting you. Searching for you. I always have and will continue to love you.”
His words were so deep, meaningful, and words she had never expected to hear from Eisuke. He deserved her respect back, her honesty.
“Eisuke… when I was rescued by the EAC, my first thought was that I hoped you were ok. I wanted to run back to you, but I had this sense that I needed to find the man who I had met, and I wanted to work like he did, saving others. Since I was already gone, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to go. Why come back, just to say goodbye? But the truth was, that was difficult. After I was hired, I had numerous missions, in and around where you were. I tirelessly tried to avoid bumping into you, for if I saw you, I knew I would want to run into your arms. But I couldn’t. I had given up my life. No one could be as close to me as I wanted us to be. So, I stayed away. Always keeping my heart as yours alone. Sure, I had boyfriends here and there. Nothing serious, more just hookups that lasted a few weeks or months. But never once did I find someone I loved, like I loved you. When I had my mission at your hotel, I was nervous to bump into you. So, when I did, and you seemed to recognise me immediately, I had to run. Because I sensed myself falling back into the same feelings from seven years earlier. Then I asked them to transfer me, so I could run from you again. Yet still, you found me. soon I went from wanting to run from you, to wanting you to find me and never let me go. Eisuke, the truth is, I am so madly in love with you that I can’t escape you. I never once stopped loving you, no matter how hard I tried to fight it…”
“That’s the truth?” Eisuke whispered.
“That’s the truth.” She confirmed.
His arms circled around her back, pulling her into his lap. Holding her in place securely by her waist. His eyes searched hers, foreheads pressed together.
“Be mine again MC. For good, this time” Eisuke whispered, holding up a familiar looking ring. Smiling, MC nodded to him, delighted as he slipped the old promise ring onto her finger. Stealing a deep, all-consuming kiss from her.
That kiss became deeper, and his tongue wetted her lower lip, trying to coax her mouth open, to let him inside. As she let out a slight gasp at the pleasurable sensation rising up inside her, Eisuke wasted no time in sliding his tongue between her slightly parted lips, allowing it to dance with hers.
Meanwhile, their hands roamed carelessly over one another’s bodies. Tugging away the clothes that rudely separated them. Flinging them away, as if they were unimportant. Eisuke’s eyes, glazed over with his lust and desire, only saw her. She had no doubt; her eyes saw only him. Filled with that same desire.
Eisuke dragged his tongue along her neck, teeth nipping at her most sensitive spots. His hands worked to find her other sensitive spots. One massaging her breast, while the other found purchase between her legs, stroking her inner thigh, deriving a moan from her lips.
MC didn’t like to be the only one receiving pleasure. She was competitive and wanted Eisuke to feel just as much pleasure as he was giving her. So, she allowed her hand to stroke down his chest, teasingly over his hip, before it met his throbbing, hard length. His desire for her was evident in the way it twitched as her hand glided over the bulge. His eyes darkened more as his need for her increased.
MC allowed herself to rub the tip gently before she began to pump his hard length. Beginning slowly, allowing him to enjoy the pleasurable stimulation she provided. Before finally increasing in speed. She felt Eisuke gasp into her neck. The knowledge that he was enjoying this only spurred her on further.
His fingers made their way into her wet folds, rubbing the sensitive nub, causing her breath to hitch and her body to tremble. God, she wanted him.
“Eis…uke” She moaned his name, encouraging him to increase his attack. She could feel her body trembling from the pleasure he was inflicting. But it wasn’t enough. She wanted to feel him. She wanted to make love to him. “I need you”.
“I-I know baby n-nm. I need you too.” He struggled to disguise the groan that escaped him.
Positioning himself behind her, it wasn’t long before she felt him enter her. She could feel him deep inside. Thrusting hard and fast. Knowing exactly what spots to hit to bring them both maximum pleasures.
It was virtually impossible to hold back her moans any longer. With each moan, Eisuke seemed to intensify his movements.
“I-I love you Eisuke” She exclaimed, as she felt her walls tightening around him, before being swept away by her climax. The feel of her coming undone beneath him, aided Eisuke in succumbing to his own release. Groaning as he spilled his seed, continuing to thrust into her prolonging their bliss.
“I love you too, MC” Eisuke said, kissing her forehead once he had recovered from his high.
His lips brushed hers gently, before he kissed the ring which once again sat atop her finger, as if sealing their love in that kiss.
***
A few days later and MCs time off had come to an end. She had returned to headquarters and had been busy with various smaller scale missions since.
A few weeks had now passed since she and Eisuke had rekindled their relationship. He had been messaging her every day, checking in, inviting her to the penthouse if she was free. Unfortunately, fate had not been on their side and she hadn’t seen him since their final date and night together.
Luckily, she had her ring on her finger. A visual representation of his love. A way for her to keep a part of him with her always. She had to cringe at herself. She was in the lovely dovey phase of a relationship, the honeymoon period. The period where she wants to spend all her time with him. this feeling had been foreign to her for the last seven years and so she was slightly surprised at herself.
A text tone drew her attention. Eisuke.
My suite. 8pm tonight. Stay the night,
One thing that had not changed, despite how sweet he was to her, he was still brusque and demanding as always. MC couldn’t help the giggle that escaped her. Luckily for her, she had a clear schedule tonight, so she would be able to see her boyfriend for the first time in a while.
Firing off a quick text confirming their plans, she resumed sorting through her mission report to send over to the Boss.
Evidently, having plans with Eisuke made her work harder and faster, as she had finished well before she normally did when filing her after mission reports. The Boss had a teasing twinkle in his eye when he recognised the same fact.
Sigh… she really was smitten.
With that thought in mind, she headed back to her apartment to prepare for visiting Eisuke.
***
A few hours later and she was inside the elevator heading towards the penthouse. She wasn’t alone, however, as Mamoru too was heading up.
“Haven’t seen ya around recently kid” He spoke nonchalantly, puffing on his cigarette.
“Yeah, I’ve had a few jobs lately which have kept me busy. You still slacking off?” She couldn’t help but giggle, to which Mamoru granted her a half-hearted scowl.
“To think I’d missed seeing ya face ‘round here, then ya go and say that” He huffed.
“Aw you missed me, I’m touched.” She joked, still laughing.
“Saracastic kid” Mamoru replied, but he couldn’t mask the smile on his face.
As the elevator doors opened up to the lounge, Mamoru and MC were still laughing. A fact that brought a possessive thrown to Eisuke’s features.
“Don’t look at me like that!” MC blurted, as she approached where he sat.
“Hmph looks like you’re having fun” He spoke begrudgingly. Something MC found very amusing.
“Wow, I haven’t seen you in weeks and the first thing you do is moan. Jeez, I missed you too sweetheart.” She rolled her eyes sarcastically.
Eisuke shot up from his seat. Grabbing her wrist and dragging her from the lounge to his suite. She could hear the bemused laughter of the others behind them as they left.
As soon as they were inside his suite, Eisuke shut his door, crashing his lips onto hers, in a deep, erratic kiss. MC did her best to keep up, responding with equal ferocity. Sighs seeping out between them.
“Of course, I missed you baby” Eisuke said, when he finally broke the kiss. His shy honesty melted her heart, and she smiled brightly at him. He smiled back, albeit exasperatedly, shaking his head. “I’ve got something for you, go wait for me on the sofa.” He commanded, yet his face was gentle.
Obediently, MC sat on the sofa, waiting for him to return. When he did, in his hand sat a small square box. Her heart rate increased, unsure of what was happening.
Taking her hand in his, Eisuke looked her square in the eyes.
“MC… Baby… I’m glad I found you again. I am glad you agreed to be mine again. You mean a great deal to me, and the promise ring I gave you seven years ago showed that I felt all these things then… but it didn’t seem right to use the same one for now. So…” He paused, opening the square box. Inside was a diamond ring, which sparkled brightly in the light. It was gorgeous and MC let out a gasp. “This is a new promise ring. One which I am giving you this time around, now that I promise once again, to love you and cherish you always. This ring is a promise of my love, to you”.
“Eisuke!” A few tears cascaded down her soft cheeks. Her smile bright. “I love you so much! I love it, it is beautiful!”
Eisuke smiled at her, before once again crashing his lips to hers as he slid the ring onto her ring finger.
Its glistening symbolising the promise of a bright future, together with her love.
She had tried so desperately to abandon her past, a past that should have been long forgotten.
But no more would she try to lose him to her past.
He was her past.
But he was also her present.
And her future.

Remaining hidden away inside her hotel room, MC had worked to find any additional information on the deal which was set to commence tonight.
Due to currently hiding away from the EAC after she had allowed her identity to be found out, Eisuke and the other bidders were using their connections for her on the outside, acting on her behalf.
The meeting was due to occur in four hours, and it wasn’t looking likely that she would find any additional intel. The thought was beginning to frustrate the agent.
“Hey…” His voice and warmth of his hand on her shoulder pulled her attention away from her laptop screen. She looked up and into Eisuke’s light brown eyes. They held hers, as if unsure as to whether or not asking his question was ok.
“What is it?” She encouraged. He was never one to shy away from anything. It didn’t suit him to start now, she thought.
“Do you really enjoy the whole espionage thing?” He finally croaked out his question. She considered his words for a moment. Yet an answer came immediately.
“Yeah… yeah, I do” She smiled wistfully, turning back to face her screen.
“Why?” This time, he didn’t hesitate on asking his question. Her eyes met his again, confusion in her gaze, so he elaborated further, “Why, when you have to keep your true self hidden? When you had to let go of everyone who you cared about, who cared about you?”
“Eisuke… I didn’t leave everyone behind. Not exactly, anyway…”
“What do you mean?” It was his turn to be confused now.
“I still communicate with my family. Just they don’t truly know what I am doing. We speak once or twice a month, just so they know I am ok. I make up some fake work stories to tell them to keep them happy. Right now, they think I am working as a secretary to some top boss in a construction company, explains why I can’t travel back freely, and am often busy. Also, I have friends. Ok, they are part of the agency I work for, and so now that I am wanted dead, they wouldn’t be able to communicate with me anymore. But they were friends. Truly.”
The faces of Hugo, Shige, and Theo flickered through her mind’s eye as she thought about those she thought of as friends. She wondered how they were. Did they believe she betrayed the agency, or did they trust her instincts? She hoped it was the latter.
“If… if you still speak to your family, creating some illusion of your life, then why couldn’t you speak to us again… Soryu… Luke… me?” Eisuke asked, his voice trailing off. Uncharacteristic of the confident Eisuke everyone else knew. Yet characteristic of the kinder, loving Eisuke MC had grown to know. Grown to love.
“Because it would have been too hard to lie to you. Too hard to keep myself… from loving you. Sure, I could have come back, but we never could have had the relationship we had. I would be disappearing for durations at a time. Unreachable. And I wouldn’t have been able to tell you anything… how would that have been fair?”
Eisuke looked at MC, slightly taken aback.
“The fact that we were in love… surely that alone made you think to reach out to me… let me know you were safe. Let me know you were ok. MC, I was so worried about you…”
“I wanted so many times to find you, Eisuke. I had finally been able to tell you I loved you, but that was torn away from us. Coming back just to tell you again that I was leaving and not able to tell you a reason why… it just didn’t seem fair.”
Eisuke sighed. Both could understand the other’s sentiments, even if they both wished a different outcome had occurred.
Suddenly, movement on her laptop screen caught her eye. It was the GPS tracker she had attached to Wells at the beginning of her mission. It was on the move. Yet it was heading in the opposite direction as to where they had been expecting the handover to occur.
She immediately reached for her phone, dialling the Boss’s contact information.
“MC--!” She silenced Eisuke with a piercing look, and he held his hands up in surrender.
A few rings in, and she heard the line get picked up.
“Hello?”
“Hello, Boss”
“MC? How interesting that you should be calling me. Ready to give up the chase? Meet the fate you chose?”
“No Boss. Actually, I have some updated intel for you. If you want it, that is. If not, I can go and enact my justice alone”
“Spill it”
“Wells is on the move. But not in the direction of where we believed the handover was taking place”
“Interesting… where is he heading?”
“Towards a container 25 miles South of where we believed he would be headed. I also tracked the shipment’s movements. It, too, is heading towards that container.”
“Very well, MC. You once again have proven why you are the best we have. Continuing to gather intel on your targets while evading our best agents”
“I knew you’d have sent them already”
“Of course, we did. You know what fate meets agents who are uncovered”
“I do. And once this mission is complete, you are free to fulfil that duty”
“MC!” Eisuke gasped when he heard her declaration.
“Heh how noble of you. Very well, MC. I will see you at the container, personally.”
“Very well, Boss”
Hanging up the phone, MC immediately began arming herself, ready to leave. Eisuke stared at her in total dismay.
“The hell was that all about? Are you stupid?” He shouted, enraged.
“No, I am not stupid, Eisuke. Also, I don’t plan on dying tonight”
“Then how do you explain that bullshit I just listened to!?”
“I am going to do my job. Complete my mission. Then I will do my best to escape, disappear from New York, and begin my run again.”
“MC, you can’t!”
“Why can’t I? Hmmmm?”
“BECAUSE I CAN’T LOSE YOU AGAIN!” Eisuke shouted. MC looked at him in surprise. His cheeks took on a furious blush, realising what he had just said. “I can’t lose you… Not again, MC. I finally found you. Finding you showed me my feelings haven’t changed, they haven’t wavered, not even slightly. I want you by my side. Espionage and all…”
“Eisuke…”
“Look, we will go with you. Finish your mission. We will defend you from your agency as best we can. Then… once it is over… we will return to the Tres Spades, and we will talk properly once again… ok?”
She looked at him, seeing all the sincerity behind his words in his gaze. Her heart yearned for him. With him, it was full. There was no denying it. She loved this man. She loves him. she seemed destined to always love him. and it was these feelings that compelled her to nod in reply to his suggestion.
“Good. Now, go get yourself ready. I’ve got a few phone calls to make, but I will be back MC” Eisuke smiled, before taking his phone out and exiting the room.
Controlling her breathing, she entered her mission preparation phase. Making sure she was fully prepared for what was to come.
***
Approaching the warehouse where the deal would be taking place, MC could feel the weight of how important tonight was. Not only was the deal taking place, but she would be facing off against her own agency. Against her own Boss.
Despite the severity of the situation she found herself in, her mind was clear. Her heart beat steadily. She guessed this was what years of training did to you. She was literally trained to be unphased by dangerous situations. What was crazy is that they literally excited her. There was a certain thrill she only experienced with a dangerous mission.
Finally, she was getting to enact the justice she had been craving since the beginning of the mission.
The odd feeling that accompanied her this time, however, was that she was not alone. As she walked, a few steps behind her followed Eisuke, Soryu, accompanied by a few Ice Dragons, Mamoru, Baba, and Ota. Truthfully, she had no idea what some of them were doing there, how they could help, but their presence added to her confidence somehow. And she appreciated them being there.
Although she could feel their eyes on her, she never once turned to face them. They might be there, but there was no way she would ask them for help. She was still an agent. She was good at her job. She didn’t need them there to know she could complete this mission. As such, she had no intention of relying on them. She just needed to perform as usual and ignore their presence.
As she continued walking, she could sense someone else nearby. Heh, odd. He never once let her feel his presence. Was she improving? Was he making a mistake? Or was it simply that he wanted her to notice him?
“Boss…” She called out, masking any nervousness of being in his presence under such circumstances there may have been.
“You truly are the best MC. A model agent. Well… almost. If you were perfect, you’d never have deviated from your mission and let others know of your true identity. Alas, I cannot say I am surprised, though. As much as I had fought to defend you from your past, it somehow came creeping back” The Boss levelled a pointed glare at Eisuke. Yet Eisuke didn’t so much as flinch.
“Ignore them. It is you and me” She spoke harshly. The boss had an uncharacteristic look of surprise on his face, only momentarily, but she saw it.
“Very well. I suppose you have a plan?” The Boss challenged.
“Obviously. And I expect you have already figured my plan out from our previous conversation.”
“Naturally. It is a solid plan, very like you. You always did impress me with your skill. So, MC… are you ready to put your skill to use? Your eyes, and… other talents… always did benefit us greatly” The Boss spoke, deliberately eyeing her body up and down, as if trying to provoke her, challenging her to back down.
But this was her plan. She would pull it off. So, she stood tall.
“What does he mean?” She could hear Mamoru ask. Everyone’s eyes obviously fixated on her.
“Of course, I’m ready. I would hardly suggest this plan if I wasn’t” She said, dropping the coat she had been wrapped in to the ground, revealing a salacious outfit underneath.
“Wow…” She could hear the bidders exclaim. Well, all except Eisuke. He just maintained his look.
“You always did wear these clothes well” The Boss spoke proudly as he eyed the dress.
She wore a dress that highlighted all of her curves. the tight-fitting dress was not only extremely short but also low cut, meaning her legs and cleavage were clearly on show. The blush pink dress brought out the aqua shade of her eyes. The agency had once described her eyes as being the light blue shade of sunset on an autumn evening while being deep enough to drown in. As such, every mission where a male target was involved, they tried to draw attention to them. While she would be unreadable, her targets would fall right into their depths, and she could extract all the intel she wanted from them.
“MC…” Eisuke’s gruff voice made its way to her ears. But she ignored him. He claimed his feelings hadn’t changed, that he wanted her espionage and all… well tonight would show him a small glimpse into her world, and that small glimpse would be enough to tell him whether he really could love her… espionage and all.
“It is time” She spoke decisively. Putting an end to any potential discussions. “I’m going in… Boss you know what to do”
“May we be successful, MC” The boss said, his usual smile present, the one she had been shown many times before when the mission was about to come to its conclusion. Nodding at him, she spared the bidders one last look… one last look at Eisuke… and then made her way inside.
She did not have to walk for long before she found Wells looking over some documents, preparing for his exchange.
She deliberately made her high heels clack, grabbing his attention, as she sauntered her way over to him.
“Maisie? What are you doing here?!” Wells exclaimed, eyes wide when he saw her. But that surprise was soon replaced by the clear desire and lust in his gaze as he looked her up and down. “Missed me that much eh? I was only gone a few hours”
“You left me in that mansion alone… How could I not go crazy waiting for your return? You have left me feeling very, very lonely, you bad, bad man” She said, her voice taking on a honeyed, seductive tone. Evidently, their missing hostage had been enough for him to fail to notice her absence, for like Yukari, she had not been inside the mansion for the past week.
Wells physically gulped. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the Boss and CIA positioning themselves ready. She also noticed Eisuke and the other bidders keeping themselves sheltered but in a place where they could see and hear everything.
“Sweetheart, I have important business to do. Wait for me and I will make you forget you were ever lonely” She cringed at Wells’ deliberately sexual words. But she knew she could hold out. Long enough to get his confession, and for the Boss and the CIA to swoop in.
Stepping forwards, towards Wells, keeping her eyes fixed on his, ensuring he wouldn’t notice the others, she pressed herself into him.
“Won’t you tell me what you’re doing? I get so bored being left out, and you know…” She trailed her fingertips down his neck, sliding them into his messy curls. Leaning in closer she whispered into his ear, “It turns me on hearing about your work”.
She felt the spike in Wells heart rate. She had caught him, like a deer in headlights. His hands found their way to her waist, before ending up on her ass, giving it a rough slap and then squeeze.
“Well then sweetheart, I guess I could tell you a little, but it’s our secret ok?” She offered him a nod, before he readily continued. “We’ve got a munitions and drugs shipment arriving. That politician’s fiancée escaped so we lost our chance to force him to pay for it, so instead I am shipping off a few of the other women who had been staying at the mansion to make up for the fee”.
As Wells spoke of the deal, she thought of the crimes he was naming. Illegal weapon trade, drug smuggling, human trafficking. The man was horrid. And soon they would finally be taking him down, thanks to his confession. The Boss gave her a signal from the shadows, and she knew it was time.
In less than a second, she had removed Wells' hands from her backside, disarmed him, and had him pinned down. Next, the CIA came over and took him from her, ready to take him off into custody.
“WHAT THE HELL MAISIE?! WHAT DID YOU DO?” Wells screamed furiously at her, trying to fight the CIA agents off of him.
“Sorry, just serving some justice. Like I said, you’re a bad, bad man” She smirked as they took him away.
Once they were out of sight, the mission was over. Which meant now she needed to avoid the EAC again. Planning on disappearing, she started walking away.
“Wait” The Boss’s voice called out behind her, full of authority. Her hand naturally finding the handle of her gun. “You won’t be needing that” The Boss chuckled. Turning around slowly, she released her grip on her gun. Eisuke and the others had made their way over to her too. Glaring at the Boss as he faced her. “Tell the peanut gallery to back down too MC. They have no reason to interfere.”
“Take a step toward her, and I will have every reason to interfere” Eisuke growled.
“Oho, it appears some things didn’t change over these seven years. But don’t worry Mr Ichinomiya, your threats to the agency came through loud and clear. No harm will come to MC. Not that any would, we wouldn’t want to lose our best agent after all.”
“Threats?” MC asked, looking confused.
“Oh yes, a certain someone made some very interesting promises should any harm come your way”
Suddenly, it all made sense. The phone calls Eisuke needed to make before they left. He really was determined to protect her and what she cared about. Her heart warmed at this news, and she smiled slightly to herself.
“Anyway, MC, as far as the agency is concerned, the client is happy, and this was another successful mission for you. As your first mission at headquarters, you did very well. Your pay will be transferred to your bank account tonight. You now have a couple of weeks free time, before we will be providing you with your next mission. Use it wisely.” The Boss stated before turning to leave. “Oh, and Mr Ichinomiya”
“Mhm?”
“I won’t lose my best agent, least of all, to someone like you” The Boss stated, before finally leaving the warehouse.
Confusion was the winning emotion MC felt. It was all over. She wasn’t being punished for revealing herself to Eisuke and the others. She was being praised and rewarded for a job well done. And in her confusion, it took her a moment to realise Eisuke had wrapped his arm around her shoulder. When she did finally notice, she turned to look at him.
“Time to go back to the hotel” He smiled, taking her back to the penthouse with him and the other bidders.
Yet the conversation they had at the hotel she had been staying at before came back to her…
We will return to the Tres Spades and we will talk properly once again.
She was nervous. Excited. Both? All she knew was… she loves Eisuke.
And if he wanted her, espionage and all? Well she wanted him too.

Slight warning ⚠️ for sexual content.
The chimes of a clock indicated the change to a new day. When had it gotten so late? Everyone had spent the last few hours sat around enjoying themselves. Yukari had tired herself out, unsurprising after the ordeal she had endured the past few months, and so Eisuke had dutifully provided her with a suite to rest in.
The guys, meanwhile, were all drinking and playing poker. MC had excused herself a few games ago from playing another hand. She had been watching. She had figured out each of the bidders tell. She had identified exactly how Baba cheats. She had also noticed when Ota sneakily pinched someone else’s chips, usually Soryu’s, so he would not need to pay in more of his own money.
She really was an agent through and through. Yet now, now she needed to disappear before the agency worked out what she had done. That was, if they hadn’t already. That was always a possibility.
She vacated her seat quietly so as not to interrupt the others. It had become somewhat of a speciality to leave without saying goodbye. Today should be no different.
She had started to make her way towards the stairs, figuring the elevator would immediately alert them to her departure. Yet before she even made it as far as the first step, her arm was caught from behind.
A familiar warmth. Familiar grip.
Eisuke.
“Where are you going?” He asked, whispering into her ear, as she felt him pressed firmly against her back.
“Bathroom” She lied, hoping to leave, without having to make this any harder.
“Liar.” He breathed the words into her ear.
Goosebumps covered her arms as the hairs on her neck raised. How could the man turn her on with his voice alone?
“Eisuke…” She murmured his name.
“Come with me” His grip moved from her arm to interlacing their fingers together instead. Pulling her along and up the stairs to his suite.
The minute he shut the door, he turned facing her. Their eyes locked, and MC felt as her body temperature increased, her heart rate spiking. She couldn’t take her eyes off him. Her aqua pools gazed deeply into his light brown orbs.
He took a step towards her as she took a step backwards. It was like a game of cat and mouse, except unlike a mouse, she wouldn’t be disappointed when he caught her.
Soon, she was pressed against his bedroom door, and he was standing right before her.
“MC…” He hummed her name, breathily into her ear. His fingertips graced her body with their touch. Lightly stroking her cheek before running through her hair. Pleasure coursed through her body, beginning at the points he touched.
“Eisuke…” She spoke his name, as she ran her fingers through his dark brown hair, his eyes glazed over with lust, his desire… evident.
“No more running?” He asked. She shook her head. “No more games?” Again, she shook her head. “I want you…” He finally spoke his desire, the words she had craved to hear.
“I want you, too” She purred back. Words that seemed to work like a green light, igniting Eisuke’s desire. Permitting him to touch her how he desired most.
His hands danced over her body as his teeth grazed her ear before his lips finally crashed into hers. Their tongues danced together, their competition to not be outdone by the other ignited once again. Fighting for dominance.
Their hands both worked together to strip the other of their clothes. Despite how many years it had been, the same pattern fell into place. She was sure she could remember exactly how he liked to be touched, and he, too, seemed to remember how to elicit the most pleasure from her.
His hands immediately sought out the spots that brought her the most pleasure. Running teasing fingers up her thigh before letting them reach between her legs, giving a teasing rub. He smirked when he felt how readily she wanted him. Pressing himself into her, showing her, she was not alone in her desire.
The next thing MC knew, she was being lifted into the air. Wrapping her legs tightly around Eisuke’s waist, as he carried her into his bedroom, lowering her onto his bed.
Their eyes locked. This was it. There was no going back now. Not that either of them wanted to stop now.
His lips worked their way from hers to her neck before reaching her sensitive nipples. His tongue flicked over the sensitive numbs, enticing a delightful moan from MCs lips. All the while, his hands continued roaming her body, working their magic, paying particular attention to where she most desired their touch.
“Mn… E-eisuke…I want you, so badly” A moan escaped her red lips, puffy from the many kisses they had shared. She felt herself getting closer and closer to reaching her high. Eisuke smiled at her, a smile so full of love, reserved only for her, before kissing her deeply.
“I want you, too, baby. And you can have me. All of me” He spoke, before she felt himself lining himself up with her entrance.
She didn’t have much time to recognise the familiar feeling before she felt overwhelming pleasure as he pushed himself deeply into her. Grunting as he entered her. His lips once again found their place with hers as he began thrusting into her. His movements erratic. Fast, deep, and rough. Evidence of his lack of composure as he lost himself in her. The pleasure was overwhelming, and her nails dug into his shoulders as she cried out his name.
“Eisuke! I-I’m going to –” She couldn’t finish her sentence. Her walls clenched around him as she felt herself reach her climax. The dizziness of pleasure sweeping her away through her orgasm. Her walls clenching around him had also pulled Eisuke into his own climax, too, as he continued rocking back and forth into her, prolonging the pleasure they both felt.
After a moment of allowing them both to come down from their highs, Eisuke rolled off of her and led beside her. Pulling her into an embrace, he placed a loving kiss onto her forehead, holding her tightly against his chest.
It reminded her of all those years ago, when he used to hold her after they had slept together. She remembered how he loved his coffee. Kissing him lightly on the cheek, she headed towards his kitchen, wrapping his purple shirt around her as she walked out of the bedroom. She sensed Eisuke’s smirk behind her as she left.
Checking her phone, she saw a worried text from Hugo. This couldn’t be good…
Babe! They are saying you betrayed the agency! Are you ok?
Shit! They noticed sooner than she anticipated they would that she had helped Yukari out. She needed to run. Tonight. Now. With this in mind, she guiltily mixed some sleeping pills crushed up into Eisuke’s coffee. Enough to knock him out within minutes.
If he knew what was going on he’d never let her go. But she needed to run. And run alone. She couldn’t drag anyone else into her mess. It was her decision to act outside the scope of her mission. No one else’s.
Handing Eisuke his coffee, he smiled at her in thanks before sipping the drink.
“You always did make good coffee” He smiled.
God, she hated that he was smiling at her like that right now. Right as she was betraying him once again and running off. She could feel the tears prickling at her eyes. Eisuke noticed them too, taking one final gulp of his coffee before trying to pull her into his arms.
Except he staggered slightly.
The dizziness and tiredness were clearly starting. He eyed her worriedly.
“MC… what… what d-did you d-do?”
“I’m sorry Eisuke, but I needed to make sure you couldn’t stop me”
“M- MC! W-wait!” Eisuke forced the words out as he fell backwards onto the bed. Tucking him in under the covers, she placed a tentative kiss on his cheek.
“Goodbye, Eisuke” She whispered into his ear, before getting up, changing back into her clothes, and leaving the Tres Spades, under the veil of darkness to try and avoid detection from the EAC.
***
Three days. Three days, she had been running undetected. In the meantime, she had continued researching Wells and his mafia to find out any more information that would aid the EAC and CIA in their ambush. She didn’t expect this would make the EAC forgive her earlier indiscretion. However, she did want to protect them by giving them as much intel as she could gather.
She had taken refuge in a cheap motel for the last few nights. She had avoided all the cameras. Ditched her EAC mobile. Purchased a cheap laptop and burner phone, which would allow her to reach the EAC with information should she gather anything meaningful. She was literally laying low.
However, she still needed to eat.
Putting her hair up into two fishtail braids, slipping on some skinny jeans and a hoody, she left her hotel room to go and grab some food from the corner store on the road beside the hotel.
Deftly avoiding all cameras, she purchased some ice cream, coffee, and milk. Just as she was about to pay, an arm reached over and tapped the card reader.
“Wouldn’t want to get caught buying ice cream now, would you” His voice was the last thing she had expected to hear. How did he find her? She was in the most random store for him to have entered, so how did he find her?
“Eisuke…” She whispered his name.
Grabbing her purchases, he led her from the store by her hand.
“We’ll talk back at your motel”
Of course, he knew where she was staying. She rolled her eyes, knowing it would be pointless to argue before heading out the door.
When they exited the store, the first thing she noticed was Mamoru leaning against the same car that had sat on the road outside headquarters last week. He waved a casual hand when he saw them arrive and started walking with them towards the motel where she was staying.
“So, you followed me here the other night?” She grumbled at Mamoru.
“You run a lot, wouldn’t want ya disappearing on us again now, would we.” He chuckled. MC was frustrated at how easily they had found her, but also grateful for the distraction from her worries with the familiar exchange.
When they arrived back in her room, she immediately set out, making them all coffee. Handing them both their drinks, Eisuke eyed the cup warily.
“It’s just coffee, jeez” She moaned, sitting down and sipping her own, before offering him it in exchange for his. He shook his head, finally sipping his own, before replying,
“You didn’t have to spike me last time”
“You wouldn’t have let me leave if I hadn’t”
“Of course, I wouldn’t have let you just run off again!”
“See? So I did need to spike you after all!” She replied, rolling her eyes.
“Now, now…” Mamoru interrupted them. “No need to bicker now. You can do that later, alone. Right now, we are here to help, isn’t that right, Eisuke?”
“What do you mean help?” MC murmured, confused.
“You’re running because we know who you are, and you reunited me with Yukari. As apology, and thanks, we will offer you help in clearing up your name with your agency. You won’t need to run anymore. And then maybe we can sit down and talk properly” Eisuke spoke, the last bit barely audible.
But MC heard every word.
“Ok… thank you” They were the only words she could muster. Slightly taken aback by the surprising offer.
But she was grateful.
It was nice to think she wasn’t alone.

Two days had passed by. When MC had returned to the mansion she had immediately sought out Yukari to inform her she would be helping her to escape. Yukari had been surprised but also grateful.
Her surprise was even greater when MC told her that when they had broken out, she would be escorting her to meet an individual she believed was Yukari’s brother. The tears she had shed as she had hugged MC made the agent glad she had plucked up the courage to speak to Eisuke. To have determined they were truly siblings.
Truthfully, tonight was outside the scope of the young agents’ mission. As such, she would likely be reprimanded by the EAC. Acting outside the scope of one’s mission in such a way risks their identities being found out. Death awaits those agents who are uncovered.
Yet MC was at peace. She was reuniting two siblings who had sought each other for almost two decades. She had abandoned everything and everyone when she became an agent, and so giving two people what they had long desired after so long, in exchange for the little freedom she had left, well it didn’t seem like such a difficult decision after all.
Wells had left the mansion with a few of the other mobsters. Something to do with another meeting; negotiating some trade deal not relevant to the mission. As a result, the mansion was quiet. It was 7pm, and MC made her way towards the room which Yukari had been kept in the entire time she had been a hostage.
“Yukari, are you ready?” MC spoke quietly to her as she entered.
“Yes!” She smiled at her happily. MC provided Yukari with a change of clothes, all black, so they would be harder to detect in the dark. Once they had changed into them, MC locked the door from the inside. “Wait, why are you locking the door?!” She exclaimed.
“Heh, we aren’t going to be escaping through the mansion, Yukari!” MC chuckled. Hesitantly, she asked,
“T-then how?” Smirking, MC directed a finger towards the window. Yukari looked momentarily surprised, then panicked.
“Don’t worry, I have a habit of climbing out of windows. Ask your brother about it when you see him, he’ll tell you!” MC laughed as she readied a safety rope for Yukari to make her feel safer as she would be abseiling down.
“Are you close with my brother?”
“Something like that. we knew each other a long time ago” MC offered a friendly smile. Yukari smiled in return. “Wells is out right now. So, if we do this quietly, we should escape pretty easily. But you have to trust me and do exactly as I say, ok?”
When Yukari nodded, MC proceeded to tie the rope around her waist, creating a safety harness. Securing the rope in place on the building, she hopped out the window onto the ledge. Clinging into place, she encouraged Yukari to join her.
She timidly stepped out on the ledge. MC secured a second rope from Yukari to her waist. She looked at her inquisitively.
“Just to make you feel safer. Should you slip, I will be able to catch the rope and stop you from falling”
She nodded, and then they began their descent. Yukari imitated each of MCs movements. Placing her hands and feet in the exact same crevices as MC did. Minutes later, they had made it onto the ground. MC suddenly pressed Yukari up flat against the wall. Shushing her with a finger to her lips, they watched as a couple of the guards patrolled around the building.
Once they had rounded the corner, MC untied the rope from both of their waists. Grabbing Yukari’s wrist, she pulled her along as they made a run for it.
They had made it as far as the end of the drive before more guards were in view, patrolling the front gates.
“Wait here” MC whispered before stealthily moving up behind the guards. Whipping the first one on the back of the head with the handle of her gun, she engaged in combat with the second. Finally, having successfully subdued the two guards and ensured no other was present, she waved Yukari over to join her.
“Who are you?!” She asked, immediately having witnessed what had just happened.
“It doesn’t matter who I am. What matters is getting you to your brother.” MC smiled at her. A smile Yukari readily returned. Running further, they managed to reach the main road. There, MC had a car waiting. Motioning to Yukari to hop in, they both clambered into the vehicle and drove away.
Mission: Help Yukari escape accomplished.
Now, it was time to introduce the siblings.
***
Arriving at the Tres Spades at 8:30pm, an hour and 30 minutes after the rescue mission had begun, Yukari eyed the hotel with surprise. Turning to face her, Yukari was even more surprised when MC informed her that not only did her brother live inside the hotel, but he was the owner of said hotel.
The elevator climbed each floor, one by one. MC could sense Yukari twitching from her nervousness. Holding her hand tightly, she sensed Yukari face her in shock before firmly gripping her hand back, her shaking subsiding
The elevator doors opened, and what welcomed the pair were all the guys sat in the lounge, engaged in a game of poker.
All except for Eisuke.
“MC! Are you here to see Eisuke?” Soryu asked.
“MC? Her name is Maisie” Yukari enquired laughing. Of course, she was confused. MC never divulged her real name. She introduced herself as Maisie to Wells and so had given the same name to Yukari.
“Maisie?” The guys all spoke in unison, eyeing her in confusion.
“Yeah here to see Eisuke, if he upstairs?” MC asked, deliberately ignoring their questioning looks.
“Yeah…” Soryu responded, confusion still apparent as his eyes followed MC and the mystery woman who accompanied her.
Nodding to them, she headed upstairs, encouraging Yukari to follow. Once outside his door, MC knocked before opening it up, not waiting for his response.
“MC!” Eisuke jumped up from his seat.
“Why does everyone keep calling you MC, Maisie?” Yukari asked. MC offered her an apologetically understanding smile.
“Because MC is my real name. I am sorry I lied to you.”
“Does it have anything to do with how you fought those guys?”
“You fought some guys?!” Eisuke blurted out, worry marring his features, mixed with surprise.
“Yes, on both accounts. Although, I would hardly call that a fight, compared to some things I have done. Anyway… Yukari, this is Eisuke… Eisuke meet Yukari. I believe you both have a lot to talk about. I will be downstairs.” MC said before leaving the room so they could speak privately.
***
MC had been sitting downstairs with the guys when Ota suggested she join their poker game. They played multiple hands, and soon, the clock struck 11pm. They had been speaking for 2 and half hours. Hardly surprising. They had a lot to catch up on.
Suddenly, the door to Eisuke’s suite opened, and Yukari and Eisuke emerged, walking down the stairs.
“Guys this is Yukari. Yukari meet Soryu, Mamoru, Baba, Ota, Luke, and well, you already know MC, even if by a different name. Guys, Yukari is my sister, the one I have been searching for” Eisuke introduced everyone. After a moment of surprise, Ota exclaimed,
“You found her?”
“MC did…” Eisuke looked at her, a smile in his eyes. She returned his smile, gracing him with one of her own.
“MC you have a lot of explaining to do at this point… first you are Sofia and speaking in a Spanish accent… then you are Maisie, living in New York and found Eisuke’s sister… what is going on?” Soryu asked, a growl of confusion and annoyance mixed into his voice.
“Yea kid, I mean, what is that all about?” Mamoru questioned.
“Yukari said you fought some guys. You were shot and injured a few weeks ago… You can’t keep lying to us now, surely?” Eisuke murmured.
All eyes were now on the agent. She sighed, resigned to her fate. She knew she was dead for talking, but she could tell they were already aware of most of it, just offering her the courtesy to explain herself.
“Ok… I’ll talk. I work for an agency…”
“So… you are a spy?” Ota exclaimed. Nodding, MC continued.
“Yup. When I got kidnapped, the agency I now work for were the people who rescued me. I was so appreciative of them I sought them out, finding the man who rescued me. they were surprised by my skill and immediately wanted to hire me. I met the higher ups in the agency. They liked my talents, among other things, and believed I could go far. So… at 18, I became their youngest recruit… 7 years later, I was promoted, hence I moved to New York”.
“So, when we saw you before with Spencer?” Soryu started…
“I was on a mission”
“And you met Yukari?”
“On a mission… she was a hostage. Truthfully, I began speaking with her because I needed information on her fiancé, to find out how involved in the crimes he was. I am sorry Yukari”
“No, it is ok. You saved me and are helping my fiancé. And you reunited me with my brother. I am grateful”
MC offered her a small smile. Suddenly, Mamoru spoke up,
“You’re a dead woman”
Everyone’s faces turned grim, all eyes on MC.
“Heh, yeah, I guess, although… they have to catch me first” MC smiled and laughed, a laugh so jovial it was out of place in the bleak room, trying to lighten the mood.
“Wait why are you a dead woman?” Yukari asked.
“An agent who gets found out, reveals themselves, or fails their mission, is disposed of. No one knows what happens, but everyone knows you never see them again.” Mamoru stated, eyeing MC cautiously. She offered him a smile.
“Failure is death.” She said quietly, still smiling. “That is what my agency believes anyway”.
“MC…” Eisuke spoke, reaching for her. She gently raised her hands, warding him off.
“It’s ok. I knew this would be the ending that I faced if I diverted from my mission… that is to say, if I told you about each other. If I hung around with you guys long enough, you were always going to figure me out.” She smiled, her eyes finding Eisuke’s. “You always did know me best, after all.”
She had accepted her fate.
She didn’t need anyone’s pity.
She was ok. She had spent the last seven years secluding herself. She would be good at it. She already was good at it, after all.
And if she wasn’t… well, she wouldn’t know for long anyway.

Also, my tumblr won't let me post from my laptop for some reason, so I had to do this on my phone... hopefully, it reads ok!
A few weeks had passed since MC had been shot. She had waited a few days, allowing her wounds to heal enough that she could move around more naturally before returning to the mansion.
When she first returned, she had overheard Wells and his men discussing the failed trade deal. It appeared Wells was blaming Yukari’s fiancé, claiming he must have not grasped how serious they were when they threatened to harm Yukari.
They were clearly furious. Their plans had been sabotaged, angering them. Their anger, red hot, would play to MCs advantage. The angrier they were, the more likely they were to make mistakes.
Upon her return to the mansion, one thing MC had ensured was that she was attending to Yukari more often than not. Knowing of Wells' intentions to bring her harm, she did not wish to allow Wells the opportunity to take his anger out on the younger woman. As long as she was with Yukari, she could protect her.
As such, her friendship with Yukari deepened, blossoming into something far beyond the scope of MCs' mission. They chatted often. MC would describe what was happening outside, divulging the latest news to her. In return, Yukari spoke of her life… her childhood, her fiancé, what their wedding would be like. Everything.
Today was no different.
Except for the topic Yukari spoke about today, in much more detail than she had before, was her long-lost brother from before they were both adopted by different families.
“He was a few years older than me…” Yukari recalled wistfully, staring out of the window, her eyes looking out into the distance, like she was once again transported back to her childhood. “He was like my best friend. He was my hero, honestly. It sounds cheesy, but we were really close siblings, what with our mother’s sickness and death, we really were there for each other. Well… my brother more than me… I was only very young when our mother fell ill, I couldn’t really understand what was happening. My brother, however, he saw and understood it all. Yet my brother, he remained strong throughout it all. Supporting me and our father. Holding our mothers’ hand, never shedding any tears in front of any of us. I often find myself wondering… whether he remained stoic, even now…”
Yukari trailed off. The tears brimming in her eyes looked heavy, ready to cascade down her paled cheeks. MC had listened, waiting to see whether she would continue. She hesitated a moment, unsure. If Yukari wanted to continue, MC would listen. Yukari appeared unsure herself as to whether to continue talking. To show she had been listening, MC spoke softly.
“You say you wonder… does that mean once you were adopted you never saw your brother again?”
Yukari shook her head. Her hair fell to briefly cover he face, before her delicate finger tucked the runaway strands firmly back behind her ear.
“Once I was adopted by my family, I no longer lived in the same city as my brother and I had grown up in. I couldn’t write to him as I did not know who he was adopted by, or where he was living. I couldn’t even tell him I was ok. He’s a worrier, my brother, he was bound to have been worried. I guess that’s why I held onto the hope… hope my brother would find me. that we would be reunited once again. The truth is, one of the reasons my fiancé and I were even here in New York was because he heard there was someone here that could tell me about my brother’s whereabouts… yet it was too good to be true… it was a trap just to get us here so they could take advantage of us.”
Yukari was getting emotional, and anger was evident in her delicate features. Frown lines that traced pathways across her forehead brought about a frown so similar MC had witnessed many times on another. Her story too… was familiar. Like one MC recognised and had heard about before. But it couldn’t really be the same… surely? This couldn’t be… his sister… right?
MC had to know.
Steeling her resolve, MC faced Yukari. “Hey Yukari, what was your brother’s name?” she asked.
“His name? Oh, heh, I guess I never told you, did I? His name is Eisuke… at least it was when we were younger.”
MC felt her heart rate spike. Why was she nervous? She only asked her what his name was. And despite the name being the same, it still might not be him. Yet the thought that this could be his sister had MC wanting desperately to know more. Desperately, she wanted to save Yukari and reunite the siblings who, evidently, had been anxiously seeking each other since their separation all those years earlier.
“If… if you did find your brother again… what would you do?”
Yukari looked at MC, a smile finding its way onto her pretty features. Features that now, looking much closer, resembled those of Eisuke’s.
“I would invite him to my wedding for a start!” She giggled, unreservedly, as though she was but a small child once again.
It was a light-hearted laugh; one MC had not heard from her in the months she had known Yukari. And in this moment, she was certain. She would get over her feelings for Eisuke, long enough to find out more about his sister, and if the stories truly did match… she would introduce them when she rescued Yukari from this mansion.
***
Eisuke stared at his phone. he had to laugh at how ridiculous he looked. After forcing Luke to give him MCs number, he had attempted to phone her multiple times and sent numerous text messages reaching out. All receiving no response. It was clear she was avoiding him, but he just couldn’t understand why.
When he thought back to how their interactions had been before she ran off to New York, all the signs had pointed towards them beginning to rekindle some kind of relationship. Sure, they were bickering when together, but they were also bantering. Like they used to. He knew he looked at her with the same desire and lust he had before she disappeared. And he had thought he noticed the flame of desire flickering in her aqua coloured eyes. She seemed to be getting on well with the other bidders, too, engaging in banter with all of them.
He knew she had a secret. One he believed she would confide in him, only for her to disappear seemingly due to said secret.
As Eisuke was thinking about the woman he cherished, unlike no other, the smell of cigarette smoke wafted into the room, pulling him back to his sense. Mamoru had walked in at some point and was simply waiting for Eisuke to notice his presence before talking to him.
“What?” Eisuke asked gruffly. His eyes fixed on the lazy detective standing before him.
“It may interest you to know I have seen the kid walking in and out of a building on 5th Avenue.” Mamoru disclosed, handing Eisuke a piece of paper with an address scrawled on it. Eisuke nodded his thanks, getting up from the sofa immediately, heading towards the door. “Eisuke…” Mamoru called out.
“What?”
“Kid hasn’t returned to that building in a few weeks… let me come with ya. Better than sittin’ there bored on ya lonesome all day and night” Mamoru offered.
Eisuke thought for a moment, Mamoru was offering to help him out instead of skipping off somewhere to nap… why?
“What’s the catch?”
“Nothin’. It’ll be borin’ on ya own. Don’t need to talk or shit. Anyway, the kid was nice. Liked her. And she can control ya mood better than anyone, so we wanna get her back before this place remains a frozen castle!”
Eisuke smiled. Everyone loved MC as much as he did. And that was without spending more than an hour total with her. She was welcome with them, and so he knew he had their support in trying to get her back. But he couldn’t let Mamoru or the others see him so soft. So, in the bluntest voice he could muster, he turned his back on Mamoru and huffed,
“Let’s go”.
Chuckling, Mamoru followed Eisuke out the door, hoping the kid would return to the building soon and would finally speak to Eisuke again.
***
The following morning, after her chat with Yukari, MC was heading to headquarters. Her meeting with the Boss and the CIA was scheduled for today. Finally, a plan would be set. This also meant she needed to prepare to speak with Eisuke again soon, and then she would be saving Yukari. She just needed to know for definite they were siblings, so she could arrange to introduce them.
Strolling up 5th avenue towards the building, MC spotted a car that stood out stationed on the side of the road. A car she had, unfortunately, become well accustomed to. Shit. Now was not the time, nor the place, to be bumping into him.
Unfortunately, the Gods were not on her side. Both the driver’s door and front passenger side door opened, revealing Eisuke and Mamoru. Both are looking directly at MC. Clearly, they had been waiting for her arrival. How did they know where to wait? She didn’t have time to question them. She needed to get inside and quickly for her meeting.
“Hey kid, long time no see!” Mamoru spoke up cheerfully, offering a casual wave.
“Mamoru” she nodded, attempting to breeze her way by. However, it would not be so easy. A hand shot out, grabbing her wrist. Tightly, but gently.
“MC…” Eisuke whispered her name. his voice whispering her name was enough to awaken something inside her. A sweet ache running through her heart.
“Eisuke, I really don’t have time right now…”
“MC, please. We need to talk”
“I know…. Look, I know there is a Tres Spades here in New York. I also know that you know where you can sit and wait for me if I don’t keep this promise. So… I will come to the penthouse. Tonight. We can talk then. But right now, I really have to go”.
Perhaps sensing the honesty and sincerity in her tone, Eisuke loosened his grip, but not before pulling her close to whisper in her ear.
“Where you need to be… is it safe?” She could hear the worry in his voice. Maybe that was the reason he whispered it to her. Embarrassed to show this side of himself in front of Mamoru.
“For now” She replied, smirking at him. “I have a meeting, nothing dangerous”
“For now…” He replied. She offered him a smile as he let go of her wrist. The cold air soon filled the empty space his hand had occupied. She turned as soon as he had let go, heading for the building. Sparing a glance behind her, she saw as the two men hopped back into their car and drove away.
She would finish this meeting, then go and meet Eisuke. Confirming tonight, once and for all, whether Yukari and Eisuke really were brother and sister.
***
Minutes turned to hours, and soon, a few hours had passed, and her meeting concluded successfully. With her intel, it was confirmed that in a week, another trade deal was set to go down. The CIA would be stationed around the location, ready to bust the trade deal, and take Wells into custody.
That meant she would get Yukari out in a couple of nights when she knew Wells was due to be absent from the mansion. She would find them a hotel room to stay in. Arrange, either a way to return her to her fiancé… or if she does turn out to be Eisuke’s sister, she would arrange a meeting for the two of them. They deserve to know the truth after all.
Looking up at the star filled sky, she took a deep breath. She knew this would be challenging, meeting up with Eisuke despite her feelings still not disappearing. But she needed to find out the truth. With this in mind, she fired off a simple text message.
Meeting over… I’ll be there soon
With the text sent, she hailed a cab and made her way towards the Tres Spades.
30 minutes later and she found herself standing inside the elevator on its way up to the penthouse suite. Hands clammy, slick with sweat. She was nervous. She had been around all these guys before. God, she had been around Eisuke A LOT before. Both as friends, and intimately. Yet she was nervous now. She took a deep, calming breath, and the doors to the elevator dinged open.
There, sitting in the penthouse lounge, were all the bidders. At her arrival, Eisuke jumped up from his place on the sofa.
“You came!” He exclaimed as he approached her.
“I said I would…” MC spoke huffily, annoyed at his surprise at her appearance.
“You also said you would meet me at the boardwalk, but I was met with a letter…”
“True…”
The others were all watching, and MC was very aware of their stares.
“Hi guys!” She said, exaggeratedly waving at them. They all waved back. It was clear to both them and MC that they had been searching hard for her and their lack of leads until she appeared herself to Luke, which made them all question who she was. How could she just disappear?
“Come with me” Eisuke commanded. Yet despite his tone leaving no room for argument, he took her hand gently. Like one would take their lovers. And he led her from the lounge back to the elevator and up to the helipad.
Without discussion, they boarded his helicopter, and the pilot ascended up into the air. They had been in the air for 10 minutes. Still, neither of them spoke a word. When their eyes met, they held. Still, there had been no attempt to initiate a conversation. Yet Eisuke still held onto her hand. A grip she found herself returning. Their fingers naturally intertwine together. At this, Eisuke appeared to release a shaky breath of relief.
As lovely as the moment felt, she couldn’t allow the romantic setting and loving feeling to interrupt tonight. She promised to forget those feelings and find out the truth for Yukari’s sake.
“Eisuke—” Yet as she went to speak, Eisuke silenced her with a kiss.
An all-consuming kiss.
Deep. Passionate. It held every emotion she had been keeping to herself and more.
After a moment of surprise, she found herself returning his kiss with the same fervour. Her tongue danced with his, as though they were both in battle to win their fight for dominance. Their breathing was increasing. Between their kisses, the only other sound in the helicopter was their breathy moans and the sound of hands roaming over clothes.
Suddenly coming back to herself, MC placed her hands onto Eisuke’s chest, lightly pushing him away. Breaking the kiss. But resting their foreheads together. For a moment, there was silence, a sense of tranquillity, as they tried to calm their erratic breathing.
“MC…” Eisuke whispered, and her eyes automatically moved to meet his. His fingers thread through her hair.
“Eisuke… I need to ask you something. And it is going to sound weird and won’t make any sense to you right away, but once you tell me, I promise you, I will explain why I am asking afterwards…”
“Ok…” Eisuke said, sitting back, showing her that he was willing to hear her out. Taking a deep breath, she looked at him.
“Tell me about your childhood again… before you were adopted.”
Eisuke seemed surprised at first, but he granted her question with an answer. “My childhood… I have told you it all before…”
“Please, Eisuke”
“Ok… My parents loved each other very much. At least, that was how it looked to little me. They had me and my sister. I adored her. We did everything together. I looked after her, especially when our mother got sick. She fell ill so quickly, and it worsened quickly too. My father fell apart. I knew that meant my mother was dying. I had to be strong for all of us. And so, I sat with my mother and held her hand, smiling at her so she could rest easily. I looked after my sister, so my father could focus on our mother. So, I fed her, helped her at bath times, helped her learn to count and spell. And for my father, I was strong so he wouldn’t have to worry about me too.”
Eisuke’s expression fell. “When our mother died… when she died, a piece of our father was taken too. It wasn’t long after our mother died that my father had disappeared. I was adopted by Akira Ichinomiya; my sister was adopted by another family… I have been searching for her ever since.”
MCs heart was breaking. The stories were definitely the same… Now was the time to confirm it. Once and for all. Settling her nerves with a deep breath, she asked one final question.
“What’s your sisters name, Eisuke?”
“Yukari, why?”
She closed her eyes. That confirms it. The names. The stories. All being the same would be too much of a coincidence for them not to be siblings at this point. Nodding once, she opened her eyes again and met Eisuke’s gaze.
“I need you to do me a favour, Eisuke”
“What?”
“Be in your suite in 2 days’ time. Evening. Alone.”
“MC?”
“I will have someone you are going to want to meet.”
“What? What do you mean?” Eisuke asked, confused. MC only shook her head.
“2 days. Everything will make sense then. I promise”
“Ok… evening. 2 days from now.” Eisuke nodded, tightening his hold on her hand. As the helicopter descended, they too fell silent.
Her heart was racing. She is an agent who can stare the most dangerous of targets in the eye without batting an eyelash. Yet her heart and nerves sitting beside the man she holds such deep feelings for, after that kiss, makes her this nervous.
When the helicopter landed, MC hopped down. Eisuke looked at her before pulling her into his embrace. Before he pulled away again, she felt his breath against her ear as he whispered,
“I’ll see you in 2 days, MC”
Once he let go, she made her way down from the helipad, out of the hotel, and headed back to the mansion where she would inform Yukari of her plan to rescue her from the mansion; and that she would be introducing her to her brother.

A cheap motel a few blocks from the warehouse, was the closest place MC could find. It was obvious why it was so cheap. A dreary neighbourhood. Few visitors. Damaged doors and floors.
But it was good enough.
Booking out a room, she ordered a first aid kit to be sent up to her room, before heading there herself. She wasn’t waiting more than five minutes before a maid dropped off the first aid kit, and then left her be.
Heading into the bathroom, MC stripped down to just her underwear. Gritting her teeth in pain. A spell of dizziness overwhelmed her, and she fell to the floor.
It wasn’t her first time getting injured. Nor was it her first bad injury. She was aware she was suffering from a loss of blood.
Sterilising the bullet wounds, she wrapped them up tightly in bandages, hoping to slow the bleeding. Although it did not take long for the bandages to be died red from the blood still flowing from her body.
She didn’t want to contact anyone from back home, but there was only one doctor she trusted. Luke. So, she fired off a text.
‘Hey Luke! Soooo long story short, got myself shot a few times and in need of some medical care. Don’t suppose you could drop by and help?’
Miraculously, a reply came rapidly.
‘MC?! Where are you?’
Informing him of her location, he fired back that he could be with her in ten minutes. She had been lucky he was in New York for a medical conference.
With each passing minute, she could feel her consciousness slipping from her. She had really done it this time. She had had many an injury before, but these bullet wounds were something else. The pain and blood loss seemed so much worse than any time before. She just needed to hold on long enough for Luke to arrive. Then… she could sleep.
The minutes seemed to trickle by dramatically slowly. Her head was spinning. Sleep was beckoning her. Calling for her to enter the dark abyss. Offering its hand, coaxing her in. She wasn’t sure she could stay awake much longer. Thankfully the banging on her door roused her from the dark once more.
When she opened the door, she was greeted by a panicked, ashen faced Luke. He pushed by her and immediately started readying his medical supplies. Giving her a pointed look, he directed her to sit down in front of him.
He took one look at her injuries before his frown immediately deepened.
The bandages MC had wrapped around her wounds were stained dark red. Yet they had not been enough. Blood had begun to run down her arms and legs. Staining the crevices on her body. Her hands were stained red where she had attempted to keep pressure on her stomach. Her breathing became deeper, more rushed. Her body was shivering and felt cold to the touch, as though she had just swum in the arctic.
“What happened?” He asked, worry and exasperation mixed into his tone. It was obvious from his face and tone that this was not good. Her injuries this time could be costly. Fatal, even.
“I’m clumsy” MC giggled, as she offered the answer she always gave when she asked him to fix her up after a mission. He was never satisfied with her responses, but also never usually pried further.
Luke wasn’t stupid. And while he probably had some sort of idea of how she got her injuries, and the many she had received before, she had never informed him of her profession. Never given him a truthful answer for how she got hurt, or why she needed a black market doctor to look her over instead of the hospital. Nor could she. What awaited agents and those they revealed their identities to, was death.
She would never risk Luke’s life like that. And she certainly wasn’t ready to die. Ironic really, considering the amount of times she had stared potential death in the eye; like looking down the barrel of a gun, or being inside an exploding building.
“MC…” You could sense the worry in his tone. While MC was grateful for his care, it did not change things. She was an agent. She loved her job. Danger and all. Walls firmly in place, all she could offer him was a reassuring smile. Well, a grimace considering the pain she was in.
“Luke, leave it. I just need fixing up. You don’t need to worry”.
“It’s not just me who worries… have you told the others where you are?”
“Of course not.” She could sense the walls she had built up in the months since leaving begin to crumble at the mere mention of Eisuke and the others. The fact he could still have such a big sway on her heart frustrated MC.
“Why not? You seemed like you were getting on so well. Like before you disappeared… like when you were getting together”
“Yeah we were getting on so well when I saw him. Like all those times he chased me and dragged me about to talk” MC stated sarcastically. Before muttering, “We were getting on fine when I saw him, I know.
“Then why ---”
“LUKE!” She shouted, interrupting the doctor, annoyed by how easily talk of Eisuke could affect her emotions. “Sorry… I didn’t mean to shout. It’s just… I needed to get away. Being around him messes with my head and my heart. I need to focus. And… I’m not meant for being around the same people for long periods of time anyway.”
“MC… you should know… they are all looking for you. Trying to find out where you’ve gone this time. They’re all worried. And Eisuke, he won’t stop until he finds you. You know this… you know how he feels about you, still even after all this time.”
Luke spoke softly and quietly as he stitched up the agents wounds. As he continued patching her up, she felt the tiredness begin to win over.
“Luke… I’m… getting… sleepy…” She struggled to fight the words out. But before fully passing out, she heard his whispered words telling her to rest, as he placed a gentle hand on her head.
***
Once MC had fallen asleep, Luke watched her quietly. He knew she would never tell him how she got her injuries. Of all the times she had contacted him for help, she always used the same phrase: “I’m clumsy”, as to how she got them.
But he was worried. Of all the times he had gone to her aid, never once had she looked like she could die if he did not help her immediately. Not once did she pass out because the blood loss or pain was too much. Not once had he seen her as vulnerable as he did tonight.
And he wasn’t the only one worried about her. Now he knew whatever she was doing was dangerous, there was only one thing he thought to do.
He knew she would be mad if she found out, but that didn’t matter to him. She could yell, scream, swear. She could hate him for all he cared in that moment. As long as he knew he was doing his best to keep a childhood friend, no… someone he still saw as a friend safe, then he would do it.
No matter the cost.
Luke grabbed his phone. He looked over at MC, as she lay passed out on the motel bed. He apologised once for betraying her trust, then he sent off a simple three worded text message.
‘I’ve found her’.

In the months following MC disappearing, Eisuke searched for her. He had all the other auction managers playing their part too.
Soryu and the Ice Dragons were searching, and using their own personal means to gather any information on her whereabouts. Mamoru was using his connections as a detective to see if he could find any leads. Baba used his own information tracks to try and find her too. Ota listened out and looked around the city. While Eisuke used every potential contact he could think of to try and find MC.
Yet none of them managed to secure any leads.
The stress of losing her once again was evident. Eisuke became harsher. He had a more permanent frown. His eyes were colder, devoid of any real emotion. He was quicker to anger. He kept himself shut away more.
But what the other auction managers noticed, that others would not, was the sadness in his eyes. How he would lose himself in thought. How tiredness was beginning to show in the frown lines and way his eyes drooped. How the mention of MC’s name was enough to rouse him from his thoughts, and also send him right back.
Yet when a simple three worded text arrived, everything changed.
‘I’ve found her’
Those three words were enough to calm Eisuke’s worries, but also send his heart racing. Finally, after months of looking, they finally had a lead. They finally knew where MC had disappeared to.
Relief flooded his body. He slouched back into his sofa, in his suite, and chuckled quietly. His features naturally softening. The sadness and tiredness that had been evident only moments earlier, vanished. The harshness his tone and features had exhibited, too, faded. He was back to his usual self. As if the last few months of turmoil had never existed.
In his relief, he hurried to text Luke back asking him where and how MC was. The reply he received was enough to make him freeze. His stomach dropped. His heart went cold.
‘New York. But she is in a bad way. She texted asking me to treat a few injuries, but when I showed up she looked like she was on deaths door. She is sleeping now, but I’m worried about what she’s got herself stuck in. No one gets shot at like she was without there being some sort of reason, no matter how stupid a reason it may be’
Shot at? Deaths door? Eisuke began to shake. He was worried for MC. Angry with whoever hurt her. Confused as to why she would be caught up in a situation. And before he could think anything through, he was firing back a text and heading to the lounge where the others sat.
“She’s in New York!” the panic on Eisuke’s face and in his tone causes everyone to look at him. “Luke found her. Well she reached out to him for help. She was badly injured. He doesn’t know how or what she was doing, all he knows is that she was shot at multiple times. We need to go now.”
“Boss…” Baba started to say, before stopping himself in the face of Eisuke’s glare.
“I said now, Baba”.
“Of course, Boss, I was just going to ask how you wanted to get there?”
“Helicopter. It’ll be quicker than my jet. We’re get to the Tres Spades in New York and then we will drive from there to the hotel she is in”.
“What will you do when we get their Eisuke?” Soryu asked, slightly hesitantly.
“What I wanted to do before she left. But first I am going to make sure she is ok and see if she needs my help”. Following his declaration, he stormed out of the lounge, heading straight to the helipad ready to leave.
His hands were sweating. His heart was racing. He was both terrified for her safety, but also excited to be reunited with her. He thought he knew before, but now he was certain. He was still in love with her.
And this time, when he held her, he wasn’t ever letting her go again.

Eyes fluttering open, MC blinked, slowly adjusting to the light surrounding her. Her eyes remained glossy, with tears, from being shut for so long. It took a few moments for her to recognise her surroundings. Looking around the room, her eyes fell on Luke, who she could hear speaking to someone on the phone.
Stretching her arms above her head, she noticed the faint twinge of pain that shot through her shoulder. Of course, she thought. Being shot was never fun, but the pain during recovery always annoyed her as it made missions harder.
While Luke continued with his phone call, MC shot off a text to Hugo telling him where she was and asking for him to come and get her. She needed to get back to headquarters so she could finalise the last stage of the mission with the Boss and CIA.
She was packing her bag when Luke noticed her movements and ran back over to her, swiftly ending his phone call.
“What on earth do you think you are doing?! You should be resting, not moving about. What will you do if you reopen your wounds?!” Luke exclaimed, raising his voice slightly.
“Packing my bag? I’ve got to get back to work. Thanks for patching me up Luke!” MC spoke in a deliberately cheerful tone, trying to mask the discomfort she felt.
“Work?! No, no, no, no. You need rest. Then we are going to sit down and talk about this work you do.” Luke spoke, frustration leaking into his tone.
“Um, firstly, yes I am going back to work. Today. And secondly, no we aren’t?”
“MC!” Luke shouted, angry at his friends lack of awareness for the severity of her wounds. “Need I remind you, only 24 hours ago you almost died?!”
“Luke, you don’t need to remind me. I know how badly hurt I was, hence why I phoned you. But thanks to you, I am all patched up and ready to go back to work!”
“MC! You cannot be serious. You are going to stay here and rest. Then we are all going to sit down and discuss this!” Luke froze. He realised immediately he had said too much.
“What do you mean by all of us?” MC asked, the tone of her voice dropping menacingly. Her guard was up. She was wary, awaiting his response.
“I misspoke.” Luke tried to play it off, but MC wouldn't allow it.
“What. Did. You. Mean.” She pronounced every word clearly. Her tone laced with the threatening tone she only used when on a mission and interrogating a suspect. Luke gulped. He had never seen his friend so angry. MC gave Eisuke and Soryu a run for their money in this department.
“Look… I was worried. And I knew how worried everyone else was.”
“Luke what did you do?!” MC asked, panic lacing into her voice.
“I told Eisuke where you are” Luke admitted.
MC was angry. She was so angry she was physically shaking. She’d trusted Luke. He had never betrayed her trust once in the last few years, but now was where he chose to drop her in it. And drop her in it by telling the one person she was trying to run from exactly where she was.
“Idiot!” She screamed at him. Her phone sounded, with impeccable timing, alerting her that Hugo was outside waiting for her. Grabbing her bag and phone, storming from the room, she huffed in frustration.
“MC, wait!” Luke called out from behind her, following as she left.
She ignored his shouts, continuing to walk out of the motel she had been staying in. Noticing Hugo parked further ahead, MC hurried her pace. Chucking her bag into the back of his car, she was just opening the passenger car door when tyres screeching sounded ahead.
She had a bad feeling about this.
Luke had just caught up from chasing her down the stairs. He, too, noticed the screeching of tyres. He seemed relieved at the sight and stood still.
A black corvette had swerved to a stop just ahead. Her bad feeling got worse at the sight of an all too familiar car. MC released an internal sigh. Stepping out from the car was none other than someone she had wished not to see.
Eisuke.
His eyes locked onto her form. The worry was radiating from him. Relief mixing with worry in his expression. She felt her heart begin to race at the sight of him. She knew she needed to escape from him again now, before all those feelings she had tried so hard to rid herself of, came swarming back.
As she turned to step into the car, Eisuke shouted.
“Don’t even think about getting into that car before we have a chance to talk.”
She looked at him, then looked to Hugo, then looked around to ensure they were the only ones on the street.
Her gaze then turned back to Eisuke. He smiled. A soft smile, one which held a lot of love.
But in the next moment, his smile turned to a look of horror.
MC pulled out a hand gun with a silencer attached, aiming straight at the corvette. Pulling the trigger, she fired four bullets in quick succession. One for each of the four corvette tyres.
Sparing one last glance at Eisuke, MC hopped into Hugo’s car and shut the door. Allowing Hugo to speed away from the scene.
“MC!” Eisuke bellowed after the speeding car.
All Eisuke could do was watch as the car sped off into the distance and out of sight. Grimacing slightly, he chuckled. He should be mad. If this were anyone else, he would be fuming at their audacity to run from him.
But it was MC.
And because it was MC, Eisuke did not feel anger. No, instead he felt relieved. He was relieved to know she was ok. Relieved to see she was alive, despite Luke’s grave message.
But more than anything, he was relieved to see her again.
As long as she was alive, and in New York, Eisuke knew he would find her again.

Having sped away from Eisuke and Luke, Hugo and MC finally arrived back at headquarters. Upon seeing her, both Hugo and the Boss reacted similarly. Surprised that she had been badly injured, but even more surprised by the fact she was already up and raring to work. But more than anything, they were thankful for her safety (despite her signing a contract stating the EAC were not responsible or required to act in the event of her being injured or killed).
Filling the Boss in on all the information gathered thus far, of how she had successfully prevented the deal occurring, obtained evidence of an attempted deal, and sent the footage to the EAC and CIA to be reviewed, the Boss was pleased. So, impressed he contacted the CIA and arranged a meeting with them at headquarters to plan the next, and final stage of MC’s first headquarters mission.
“They’ll be here in a few weeks MC. Good job, we will continue the planning then.” The Boss informed her, showing MC a rare, genuine smile.
Nodding once, she vacated the office and returned to her apartment where she could redress her wounds.
Soon her first mission would come to an end. It had been everything she had been promised.
Dangerous.
Difficult.
But thrilling.
She just hoped the arrival of a certain hotelier would not disrupt her any further.
