Sora let a small smile slip onto his face at the mention of feeling safe. âYou think so? I guess it wouldnât hurt to ask.â
He glanced again at the dark areas before answering her question. âI- I will be alright but the shadows are getting closer and I think it would be best if we find a brighter room ok?â he asked. He wanted to ask if she would come with him, he hated being alone but he had just met her and she might think it was weird.
âIts in pieces so you canât really fix it but I could ask for a new one. I think they are just afraid I will break it again.â He looked down.
His eyes were drawn to the shadowy placed in the room again. He really needed to go somewhere else before they got worse but he couldnât just bolt out of the room with the girl standing there that would scare her.
Soraâs eyes lost a tiny bit of worry but not much at her mention of believing him. He hated it when they didnât believe him.Â
He shook his head. âNot as far as I know. Sometimes in my dreams there is but not here. They donât like well lit rooms though or outside.â His eyes kept sliding to the dark parts of the room. It was always like this when his mind turned to the shadows.
âUm. Canât you⊠you could request extra lights for your room? Weâre allowed to personalise our rooms, and if it helps you then itâs unethical of them to refuse you,â Violet shrugged uncomfortably âAs long as it doesnât stop you from sleeping.â
Sora nodded. âI can and I had an extra lamp for a while but I uh.... broke it.â He looked embarrassed. âThe shadows were closing in and I tried to hit them.â He held out his hand so she could see the old scar from the broken lamp.

Soraâs eyes grew round and filled with fear. âThe shadows want in my door too. They are bad things. My door comes and goes but the shadows...â He shivered. âNever leave.â He turned to face her eyes round and worried. âYou believe me right? Some people say they arenât real but they are.â
âYeah kinda like a quest.â He looked shocked a moment later at her mention of a temporal key. âNo you may be right! I never thought of that!â A moment later he looked nervous as his eyes slid to the shadowy places in the room. âI just hope the shadows donât find it.â
Sora smiled. âIts nice to meet you too.â He slid the keys from the bed into a box and placed in on his nightstand. âIts alright most people canât see my door but it shows up all the time randomly. If I could get it open it would be great but no matter how many keys I get it still wonât open.â He sighed. âI donât think i am supposed to have help opening it anyway.â
Sora jumped a little at the sound of a girls voice. âNo I donât guess so.â He answered with a small smile. âWell I guess I do need help but I canât really ask anyone else to help cause they canât see the door.â He tried to explain. âMy name is Sora. Who are you?â
Sora sat in the middle of his bed looking worriedly down at the pile of small metal objects on the bed next to him. âThat 15 different keys this week and it still doesnât open.â He muttered.
Sora high-fived his new friend happily. âI hate it when the staff arenât very friendly but my friend Namine works here and she isnât like that.â He commented. âIâm hungry how about you?â
Tito laughed when he high fived him. âYeah, I hate dealing with the ones who hate their job. Itâs like find a new place to work if you hate dealing with patients! I donât know if I know Namine or not.â He looked thoughtful for a moment. âMan, Iâm always hungry! Iâm also Tito.â
âWell Tito I am Sora! Do you want a cheese burger?â He asked as they headed down the hall. âNamine is really awesome she works in art therapy by the way so I hope you meet her.â

Tito looked from Sora to the retreating figure of the nurse walking away. âYeah, thatâs right, you better walk away, hijo de puta!â He sassed before turning around to walk away with Sora. âFool doesnât know who heâs messing with. There not really a doctor looking for him is there?â He asked, raising an eyebrow.
Sora laughed. âIf there is a doctor looking for him I donât know about it. I mean there could be so it might not be a total lie.â He grinned. âI donât like that guy much anyway. He says the stuff I see isnât real.â
Youâre about to cross a line, amigo. You insult my pride, that means death.Â
Sora had been walking through the halls when he head Titoâs words. It sounded like there was a fight brewing and Sora frowned. He headed toward the voices and found Tito staring down a male nurse.Â
âOh hey there is a new patient down here and one of the doctorâs is asking for you.â He told the nurse trying to look wide eyed and innocent which he did pretty well.Â
The nurse turned to look at Sora. âWhy should i believe you?â He sneered obviously already riled up from Tito.
âTrue I guess you canât trust me but if I am not lying one of the doctors will be mad right?â He asked with a grin.Â
The nurse looked unsure for a moment before just turning a running off. Sora watched him go before smiling a Tito. âWe should probably leave before he comes back.â

âOh trust me it can be boring here but I am happy to keep you company.â He smiled at his friend completely oblivious to Rikuâs worries. He pulled a chair over and sat down in it backwards resting his arms on the back. âIts not too bad here. There are some fun things to do like a rec room and a kitchen and a garden. There people here are pretty fun too. I made friends with Barrel, Sally, dinky, vanellope, and a few others.â He sighed. âThey donât have sea salt ice cream though.... I miss that.â

"You will never get rid of me completely." Sora grinned up at him. He listened to what his friend had to say about the infirmary and just waking up. "Oh I'm sorry I bet your tired. You can lay back down on one of the beds now if you need to. I can pull up a chair." Sora fully intended to stay with Riku as long as he could. He wondered if he could get Namine to make them let him stay here till Riku could leave the infirmary.

He frowned for a moment. âSome one bad didnât hurt you did they?â He asked he then smiled a little more gently. âItâs ok you know what ever happened Iâm here. Namine is here too. Did you know that? I canât wait to introduce you to everyone here.â Sora new he was rambling but he was just so amazed to see his friend and worried to. He kept flipping between being happy and worried.
âNo, nobody hurt me,â he said, shaking his head, finally letting his hands drop down at his sides, listening to him talk and staring at the ground. He was half listening, lost in his own thoughts of debating on if he should tell his friend or not. He didnât want Sora to think any less of him, or run scared, or worry. He had always played the strong one, and didnât know how to react when for once he was weak and distressed, âI know, itâs one of the reasons Iâm here, your mom told my parents about this place,â
"I am glad they choose to send you here no matter what's wrong." His eyes slid to the corner of the room for a moment before he forced himself to look back at his friend. "The shadows aren't so bad here... Most of the time." He looked up at Riku giving him another winning smile. "What ever is wrong though I will be right here. You can't get rid of me!" He watched Riku's face trying to tell if his reassurance was helping. He knew something had to be really wrong for Riku to be here but he couldn't tell what it was.

Sora quickly let go as he realized he might have hurt his friend. âOh geez Iâm sorry. Iâm just so glad to see you.â He smiled up at his best friend before he realized Riku wouldnât be here if he wasnât hurt somehow. His smile melted away at this thought. âBut⊠Why are you here? What happened are you ok? How do I fix it?â He asked all at once.
Riku gave him a small smile, âI know you are,â he straightened his shirt, making sure everything was still hooked in and not ripped out, which he knew he would end up doing somehow anyway. He didnât want to tell Sora what he had done, he didnât know how the other would react to it. âIâŠ.I kindaâŠâ he hid his hands behind his back, hiding the bandages on his wrists.Â
