Hi in honor of being late to the anniversary I just wanted to remind everybody of a fun fact about desert duo and the cactus ring

They were doing it with no weapons (specifically no weapons no armour) which means that they couldn’t just do any sort of “quick and painless way to go”

In simpler terms: they had to kill each other in their bare hands

I haven’t, and I’m not sure if you all have but from what I understand it’s quite painful to fight someone like that, it’s fairly easy to injure yourself and your own hands in the process, especially because you’d have to imagine the blisters and bruises they’d already gotten earlier in the day (or just throughout the series)

So Grian who is shaking, his hands are already blistered and bloody, apologizing repeatedly as he has to beat Scar into the sandstone, his hands stained red with both of their blood, being left both traumatized and unable to see himself as a victim too

And Scar, who likely already knew he would loose this fight, told Grian “you can kill me,” and who spent the minutes leading up to his death being stabbed by the cacti, burnt by fire, and only likely dying from the head wounds, but his last words were still “I’m sorry (no-)”

They didn’t get to just make it easier on one another and why would they who the only reason they were fighting was for the spectators
