Hello!

I'm lost (also known as secretly snufkin on my moomin blog!), an illustrator and beginner comic artist.

I've decided to create this blog this year to document a project I've been thinking about for a long while now.

The project is going to be a comic based on folk takes from around the UK.

Updates will be posted at the end of each month!

I've never done anything like this before, only one off illusions and the occasional one or two page comic but I'd be delighted if you joined me on this journey!

Monthly update for May!! + Release changes

Hi! Wow May went by fast!

Here is the update for this month!

First of all, the release date has been pushed back from the 11th of June to the 30th. The actual panels are taking longer than planned and ended up being more detailed. But I'd rather push back the release than sacrifice the quality of it:)

Now for the actual progress update! The pencils for the comic are almost done and I can soon start on the line art!

I've also done some promo art! (See one below cut) These will be released with their own post during the week leading up to the publication!

There have also been a lot of story changes, specifically with the prophecy so that it reads more like a folktale and less like a medevil-inspired epic, while also shorting by a lot . This has meant even more research and analysis of folktales! Hazzah!

Monthly update!!

Hi! Here’s the progress for this month!

As of yesterday the script for the first section/ arc (I’ve been calling it the denial arc) is almost completely finished, I’ve only got to rewrite and look over a few bits near the end.

I’ve also done a little bit of story boarding, but am hoping to do a lot more very soon!

Most major plot points as well as crucial world/lore background details have been refined and tied in with the story!

I started on making reference sheets for reoccurring locations such as the house Idris will be staying at!

I’ve recently been playing a lot of Tomodachi, and created these guys in game, so I might end up redrawing some screenshots of their interactions and uploading them here!

In addition to all this there may be some keychains, stickers or even a Patreon or kofi coming soon depending on interest/ engagement so if your interested keep on the lookout for that!

Weekly update!

There isnt all that much to update on but here is the redesign for Meleri!

I feel like this design definitely fits both her and the work better!

Also from today updates will be posted once at the start of each month instead of weekly!!

Weekly update!

Hello! As this is the first update after my two weeks off I actually have made quite a bit of progress!

These past weeks I have completely rewritten the opening of the story and have story boarded the first three pages as well as written down ideas for the following four pages after that!

I've also made changes to how the magic system works, especially the prophecies work as that's the main aspect of the plot and I wanted to tie it in more!

I finally decided on an ending and finished plotting out the timeline!

There's also been alot of work and focus on charter interactions (like in the sketch above) and next week I am planning to plot out time lines for each character and how they change in relation to each other.

There's also been a start on designing background charters, which I'm also planning to take further next week, along with doing some more turnarounds and updating Meleris' turnaround!

Weekly progress update and announcement!

Weekly update time! This past week I’ve done a lot more work on the visual elements rather than just story, which I have been focusing on before then!

Here’s some more turn arounds of the rest of main four!

Not entirely happy with the design of Meleri (the third turn around sheet), so it might be changed later on!

You might notice that the designs differ from the character announcements earlier in the year, this is because realised that the designs where to proportionally similar and didn’t really work together then placed side by side, so i made changes!

As well as this, the mentor charter has been fully designed - background, history, involvement with the plot/ other charters and all!

The second page has also been scripted.

As for the announcement there will be no post next week, since I am going on a short brake for a week or two to focus on my moomin art again for a little while :>

Idris turn arounds!

That’s about all I’ve managed in terms of progress this week, but I’m hoping to do a lot more next week! As well as more turnarounds and official reoccurring backgrounds that’ll be used in the comic!

Comic announcement!

I am very happy to finally show the first official art for my upcoming comic “Escaping the Prophecy “

The first chapter will be published here and on webtoon on the 11th of June!

The comic will follow Idris, who lives in a world where magic is extinct. Despite this Idris finds something impossible - a magical sword, forgotten and unassuming. Little does Idris know that this sword will change their life forever, as they try to escape the prophecy that the sword now binds them too.

Intruding my favourite cast member, Oscar! (He/they)

Almost considered making this guy the main character when I first started doodling them but couldn’t find a way to make it work, Idris is just irreplaceable!

Also ignore the fact that i still haven’t posed the wip and title as I said in my previous update! Work has gotten busy again so I haven’t had the chance to work much on the promo art just yet.

As for the progress update it’s self, all major plot points have been worked out and a blurb written! I’m also working on turn arounds, charter interactions and more reoccurring scene settings. I’ve also had to create an entirely new secondary character to tie the whole thing together, seance I realised the gang really needed not just a mentor but also someone with a place and advice to fall back on. This was all done through research on world building, story writing and making comics!

Next week’s update will be split into two! One progress update and one post announcing the comic!

Weekly update!

Not much to update about this week, due to how busy I’ve been at work, but here’s what I’ve managed to do so far!

Started working on the cover image for the comic! Which I’m hoping to share in next weeks post!

I’ve also finalised the realise date for the first few pages of the comic and finally settled on a title! Both of which I’ll be also sharing in next weeks update, so stay tuned!

Apart from that, this week I’ve been working on sketching backgrounds, room layouts and characters to get familiar with them and make sure that their designs actually work in the long term.

With the writing side of things, I’ve figured out some of the major plot points but have yet to actually write them down.

Saved the best for last! Here is the final member of the main four, Ffifon (she/her)!

Ffifon is a member of the druids who are the few people who respect and honer magic, which is why they have such a fun outfit!

She is dating Meleri, who helps her connect and learn more about the existing magic since they are magical themselves.

Out of all the characters, Ffifon’s design has changed the most from when I first drew her, I’ll try post the sketches later this week with an extended update!

This weekly update I’m introducing the third character of the group, a part of the fae named Meleri! (She/they)

Meleri is the the only fae of the group, being magical herself despite living in the non magical world.

She is also dating another member of the group who will be revealed next week!

As for the update on the progress of the comic itself, I’ve been doing set design, more script writing and outlining and even a free story boards for the first three pages!

As for next week, I plan to do the same as this week and just take everything a bit further still.

Weekly progress update!

Just realised I never mentioned my weekly progress on my last post!

I’ve gotten a lot of the bace work for the project done this past week, starting the first draft of the script, developing characters, and updating/ creating designs for characters!

I’ve also been researching more on folklore, mainly for inspiration on the creatures at the moment.

Next week I plan to do more with charter designs as well as starting on some environment sketches, and just focus on writing the script. I also plan to refine the charters design even more and make sure it’s something I can definitely draw again and again for when the actual drawing of the comic.

Might also think about starting a TikTok/ instagram account once the comic is up and running? But we shall see

Second charter reveal!

Introducing Idris’s best friend and biggest source of worry - Emyr (he/they)

Emyr is a jester/bard and a real jack of all trades. Especially when it comes to music and instruments, as that’s how they make a living. They, like Idris, are also based in mainly welsh folklore but also with some charters from north English folklore sprinkled in.

Despite their seemingly loud personality he has a tendency to quietly slink into the background if given the chance.

Another charter I really like, he’s just so silly.

Idris sketches!!

Out of the main four Idris is definitely my favourite! (Although the others are great too) I will not shut up about them/hj

He's just so unintentionally nonchalant about everything and takes every so seriously to the point where it's almost comedic, sort of like Saiki in 'The Disastrous Life of Saiki K' in a way.

I'll be hoping to post Idris best friend next week, and if I have time, a few of Idris's family members. They do need redesigning though because I've decided to change a few things about the setting.
