What is it like to have a beautiful wife?

“A few years after I was married, an old friend from out of town visited me in my office. He noticed the framed photograph of my wife.

“Who’s that?” he asked.

“Oh, that’s my wife,” I replied.

He gave me a hard look. “No way a woman that beautiful is your wife. Who is she really?”

It took my partner’s confirmation before he finally believed it.

I get to experience much more than the physical beauty, of course. I remember the first time I visited her home and walked in to see walls filled with books, most of which I had not read, and realized with a shock: maybe I'm batting way out of my league. I saw her kind parenting of her five-year-old daughter and thought: wow, I have a lot to learn about raising my son.

To me, her physical beauty is inseparable from her overall beauty of character and intellect. All this, plus she is creative and has a deep sense of humor.

I never tire of looking at her, hearing her voice, solving crossword puzzles with her, getting the daily chores done with her, raising three kids to young adulthood together. And I never run out of thankfulness for how blessed I am.
