After days of watching youtube tutorials on how to make cream puffs and tiramisu cake, he finally made a decent batch. His worries about not making a good batch in time to ask you out before your birthday vanished. It took him a lot of late nights and lots of trial and error, but finally, he did it. He wraps it up nicely and leaves it on the counter.
He heads to Yuji's room and knocks on the door. "Are you ready, Yuji?"
"Yes, uncle Kuna, you can come in," Yuji happily says and Sukuna opens the door.
"You look really handsome, little man," he compliments, looking down at Yuji with a fond smile.
"Thank you, you need to get dressed too. We need to get there early so we can set everything up," Yuji scolds, trying to push Sukuna out the door.
"Alright, alright. Make sure you have your gift for them."
"Yes, I have it on my table," he says proudly.
"Okay, good job," Sukuna says as he heads to his room to get dressed. He can feel his hands trembling as he gets dressed which is ridiculous because he doesn't get nervous. He walks out the door and Yuji is already waiting with his gift in hand. "Can you help me hold some things, Yuji?"
"Yes, I still have my left hand," he wiggles his fingers.
"Alright, come on," he grabs the bouquet of tulips and hands them to Yuji. "Is that okay to hold? Not too heavy?"
"It's not heavy. I'm a strong boy," he makes an attempt to flex, but fails.
"Alright, you strong boy. Keep holding onto that for me while I hold the food and blanket." They make their way to the car and Sukuna puts everything in the trunk. He buckles Yuji up and they drive off to the park.
When they arrive, Sukuna picks a nice spot under a tree and he sets the blanket down. They just sit there, waiting for you. Sukuna's hands are clammy and he feels his heart beating out of his chest, his breathing uneven. Yuji's talking to him, but all he hears is a hollowed out voice.
"Uncle Kuna? Can you hear me?" Yuji looks at him with concern.
"Sorry, bud. I'm just nervous," he looks at Yuji with a poor attempt at a smile.
"It's okay," he pats Sukuna on the arm, "they will say yes and we will become a happy family."
"Yes, we will," Sukuna whispers under his breath, but that all depends on if you say yes.
You arrive and he thinks he forgets how to breath. You're beautiful. Breathtakingly so. He wonders if he could become your boyfriend.
"Are you okay? You look constipated," you comment.
"Yeah, just fine," his voice cracks and heat rushes up to his face. He gets up to help you and he stumbles.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Your voice is cracking and you can barely stand on your feet.
"Just fine," he gives you an awkward smile as he takes the bags from your hand.
"Sure, if you say so," you're looking at him skeptically, but he ignores your stare. Instead, he puts your bags down and pats the spot next to him.
"What's with the flowers?" You ask as you take a seat next to him.
"They're for you," Sukuna hands them to you with trembling hands and he tries to control his breathing.
"These are my favorite. Thank you," you give him a big smile as you take the bouquet from his hands, placing it down next to you.
"Of course, Yuji told me these were your favorite, so I wanted to get them for you," he can't get his hands to stop shaking and his voice to stop trembling.
"Are you sure you're okay?"
"It's just really hot," his voice cracks on the word hot and he curses his body. "Let's just take everything out and eat."
Sukuna takes everything out one by one, placing them down on the blanket. He feels a lump in his throat and he thinks he's screwed. How is he supposed to do this? He decides to get it over with. He tries to swallow down the lump in his throat. "I'm going to say this right now because I don't think I can wait any longer before my heart bursts. Will you give me the honor of being your boyfriend?"
"No! That wasn't the plan, uncle Kuna!" Yuji yells out, cheeks puffing out. "I was supposed to give them my gift first!"
"Sorry, Yuji, my bad. Go ahead," you let out a laugh at his words, waiting for Yuji's gift. He shyly hands it to you and you take the things out of the gift bag. Inside, there's a single tulip and a drawing of the three of you. The words, 'My forever family,' are written on the bottom.
"This is so cute, Yuji. Thank you," you give Yuji a kiss on the cheek. You put the drawing and tulip in your bag for safekeeping.
"I'm so glad. You can ask them now, uncle Kuna," Yuji looks at the both of you expectantly.
Sukuna takes a deep breath and asks again, "Will you give me the honor of being your boyfriend?"
"I don't know. What do I get in return?" Sukuna feels his heart drop and he stammers over his words to give you a reason. You feel bad for messing with him. "I'm sorry, I'm messing with you."
"So it's a yes then?"
"Yes," his body immediately crashes into yours as he peppers kisses all over your face, whispering thank yous.
"Stop it, uncle Kuna! It's my turn," Yuji climbs into your lap and hugs you. You lean down to give him a kiss.
"Okay, you big babies, let's eat."
"I made the cream puffs and tiramisu cake on my own. Try it. It took me a while to get it right," he hands you a cream puff and you bite into it.
"This is so good. You did it perfectly," Sukuna breathes a sigh of relief.
"What about the tiramisu cake?" He cuts you a piece and gives you a fork. You dig in and it's delicious.
"This is amazing too! You might be a better baker than me," you tease.
"I gotta thank those youtube videos," he chuckles.
"Yes, I have to," Sukuna grabs your hand and kisses the top of it.
"Let's just eat now. I'm sure you're hungry," you don't say anything after that. The three of you just begin chatting and eating.

Sukuna arrives home and Yuji immediately runs up to him. "Happy birthday, uncle Kuna!" He hands Sukuna his drawing, "this is you, this is me, and this is our babysitter. We live in this house and we became a happy family," he's grinning at Sukuna, showing off all his teeth.
"This is very nice, thank you," Sukuna ruffles Yuji's hair and takes his shoes off while Yuji waits for him.
"Come on, uncle Kuna, this way," he grabs Sukuna's hands and leads him to the dining table.
You're seated there with the cake and a gift bag. "Happy birthday," you murmur.
"So, that's why you were shocked I was coming back early," he looks at the red velvet cake that has 'happy birthday' written across in white icing that Yuji clearly wrote.
"Yeah, I wasn't sure if Yuji could finish his homework early and help me bake the cake at the same time."
"It all makes sense now," he takes a seat next to you, with Yuji sitting in his lap, "What's that?" He gestures to the gift bag.
"It's my gift for you," you hand him the bag and he takes a look inside.
"How did you get this? And how did you know I liked collecting these? Who told you?" There's a tremble in his voice.
"I saw your collection in your room when I pass by sometimes and I really wanted to get you a good gift, so I asked Satoru. You've been talking about this particular one a lot apparently, so I figured I would try to get it for you," you avoid eye contact with him and instead look at Yuji. Yuji takes a look inside the bag and takes the car out, playing with it.
"I see, makes sense for you to have his number and for you to ask him," he's deep in thought as he stares at Yuji playing with the car.
"You're not mad…?"
"No, this is really thoughtful. Thank you," you glance up at him and he's giving you a smile, his eyes full of softness. You're staring into each other's eyes and you feel your heart racing. It's too much for you and you break eye contact with him.
"I should get going," you stand up quickly.
"Wait, stay," Sukuna grips your wrist.
"Yeah, stay, eat the cake with us," Yuji looks at you, eyes pleading.
"I wish I could, but I should get going," you give Yuji a kiss on the cheek.

You're sitting at the cafe with Akio, waiting for Nana and Himari to arrive. The two of you are chatting about life, but mostly about yours and Sukuna's interesting relationship.
"So, what's your verdict on him?" Akio asks you.
"Verdict? What is this court?" You give him a perplexed look.
"You heard me. What do you think of him at the moment. Any butterflies?" He wiggles his eyebrows at you and you cringe.
"You're asking the person who thinks feeling butterflies in your stomach are a myth," you give him a deadpan look, but he doesn't give up.
"That doesn't matter, even if isn't butterflies, I want to hear your opinion of him from your mouth," Akio is stubborn, determined to see your feelings and thoughts about Sukuna.
You sigh, giving up, "you just want to see my facial expressions so you can study me," he doesn't deny it, so you continue, "well, I think that he can still be a little bit of an ass, he still acts before thinking, and he still doesn't listen well."
"But..?" Akio pushes, he can see that you're hesitating to say more.
"But he's trying really hard to be better and I don't know what to think," you admit, fidgeting with your fingers and avoiding his gaze. Sukuna has been softer lately, less yelling, less glaring, his personality has done a small 180, though he does slip up sometimes. The most important thing is that he's trying. It's a weird change that blooms uncertainty in your chest.
"You don't have to think anything of it. All he's doing is trying to be a decent person. You don't automatically have to fall head over heels for him because of it. All that's happening is your opinion of him is changing and you are uncertain of how to navigate it because you're scared. Being scared of this change is okay, just keep track of his progress and keep watching him, then maybe you'll be less scared and you'll learn how to navigate it," Akio reassures you and you feel the weight lessen. He knows that you're scared of change, you prefer to keep a routine, which is why your jobs consists of following a routine.
"That is probably the most comforting thing you've said to me. Thank you," you glance back at him and give him a smile.
"I know. I'm the best, keep telling me that," at his statement, you roll your eyes. However, before you could respond, a voice calls out your name. You look over and are met with Yuji's bright eyes with Sukuna trailing behind him. Sukuna is glaring at Akio and you can tell he's holding his tongue. Akio averts his gaze and instead looks at Yuji, giving him a smile.
"Are you on a date?" Yuji innocently asks.
"No, I'm not. This is my very good friend, Akio. We're waiting for two more of our friends so we can go hang out," at your words, Sukuna's scowl softens and he pulls Yuji away, "you heard them, let's not bother them on their day off."
"Wait," Akio stops them, earning a glare from you, "come hang with us. None of us will mind." You resist the urge to punch him.
"Are you sure?" Sukuna asks skeptically.
"Positive," at Akio's words, he takes a seat with Yuji.
"Of course you say that, you guys live for the drama," you mutter under your breath.
"What was that?" Akio asks you.
"Nothing," you lie and he eyes you.
Eventually, Nana and Himari arrive, "sorry, the bus was being a pain in the ass," Himari says. Upon seeing Sukuna and Yuji, they give you a silent look to which you eye the culprit who pretends not to see it. They introduce themselves to Sukuna and Yuji and sit down.
"If you don't want us here, we can leave. I don't mind. After all, this was supposed to be a hangout for you guys," Sukuna looks back and forth between Nana and Himari before his eyes land on Nana who responds.
"No, stay. We want to get to know our precious friend's boss and the kid they look after," Nana gives Yuji a smile which he happily reciprocates. You curse all of them in your head, this is going to be a long day.
"Thank you for letting us crash then. What's the agenda for today?" Sukuna questions.
"We wanted to eat and then head to an arcade," Nana replies.
"Sounds fun, is that something you want to do, Yuji?" Sukuna looks at Yuji as he waits for a response.
Yuji thinks about it for a bit before saying, "yes, please, uncle Kuna."
"Alright then, we'll go," Sukuna ruffles Yuji's hair and gets up, "I'll go order food for us. What do you guys want?" The four of you try to protest, not wanting him to pay, but he cuts you all off. "Let me do this since you let us crash your hangout." You know that he's stubborn, so instead of arguing and wasting time, you give him your order, your friends following suit.
After he leaves, Yuji decides it was the best time to reintroduce himself, "Hi, I'm Yuji and I'm five years old. I live with my uncle Kuna, who really really likes them," he points to you with a grin on his face and before he could utter another word, you cover his mouth. However, the damage is already done. Your friends are giving you a look and you wished the ground would swallow you up.
You let go of Yuji's mouth and he apologetically says, "I'm sorry, was I not supposed to say that?"
"No, you're fine, Yuji. Don't worry about it. My friends are going to be annoying about it. It's not your fault," you reassure him and your friends quickly agree.
Sukuna makes him way back to you guys with everything in hand. He hands everyone their food and sits back down. "Did anything interesting happen while I was gone?" Sukuna looks at Yuji for an answer.
"No, uncle Kuna, but I think everyone is so nice," Yuji responds.
"That's good, Yuji, I'm glad," he pinches Yuji's cheek.
All of you finish eating and make your way to the arcade. "Uncle Kuna, hold my hand, please," Yuji holds his hand out to Sukuna and he takes it. Yuji then turns to you, "hold my hand too, please," he holds his hand out to you and you take it. Behind you, your friends are all giving each other a look and Nana takes a picture, grinning to herself.
Yuji happily hums to himself with you and Sukuna by his side, "It feels like we're a real family now," Yuji says. You and Sukuna don't disagree and Sukuna opts for a "yes, we are." Your friends' eyes widen and they mentally take note of it to tease you later.
You arrive at the arcade and Yuji runs off. "Hey! Don't run off, you'll get lost!" Sukuna yells.
"Don't worry about him, dude. We'll help look after him," Akio runs after Yuji.
"Yeah, don't worry about it. We got him," Nana walks behind Akio, giving you a wink.
"Have fun, you two." Himari pats you on the back, following behind.
"Guys, wait—" You try to trail after them, but Himari turns around and says, "Seriously, we got this. Have fun you two." Those traitors.
"Sorry about that, I'm going to try to get him back." Sukuna jogs after them and you watch him as he goes. From what you can see, the exchange isn't going too well. It looks like they're trying to keep Yuji hostage.
Sukuna makes his way back to you, "It looks like they're set on keeping Yuji for themselves," he looks around the arcade, "So what do you want to do?"
"Can we go to the claw machine first? I want that red panda in it," you ask him excitedly.
"Yeah, let's go." You lead the way and he follows you.
You take out your wallet to pay for the claw machine, but Sukuna holds your wrist, "I'll pay for it," he takes his wallet out. "Do you even have coins in there?" You ask him.
"Nope, but I can always exchange my cash for some coins at the counter, let's go," he drags you to the counter, not letting go of your wrist at all. He exchanges his cash for some coins and drags you back to the claw machine. "Here," he hands you the coins and you try to protest, but he stops you, "Think of it as an employee bonus." You eye him and sigh, deciding that arguing with him wasn't worth it.
"This is what I'm talking about when I say you don't listen," you whisper under your breath, taking the coins from his hand.
"What was that?" He gives you an amused look.
"Nothing," you put the coins in the slot and begin to guide the claw with the joystick to the red panda you want. You press the button and the claw goes down, but it doesn't grab the red panda, "No!" You try again and again until eventually you run out of coins.
"Bro, I'm telling you right now, this is rigged," you look at him.
"Let me try, wait right here," he goes back to the counter to exchange more coins and comes back. He puts the coins in and does the same thing you did. After his second try, he got it.
"No way! You got it! Oh my god, thank you!" You hug him and he stiffens, "I'm so sorry," you back up immediately and he hands you the plush.
"It's no problem, I'm glad I could make you happy," he gives you a soft smile, one that you find yourself reciprocating. The two of you just walk around before you stop him, "I want to try that shooting game," he glances at what you were talking about and agrees.
The two of you start the game up and he's surprisingly good. Guess he's not hostile for nothing, he is way too good at shooting at the monsters. The game ends and it's no surprise that he won. "Why the hell are you so good at shooting? Like what the hell," you say, exasperated.
"I've always been good at these games," he says.
"Of course you have," you roll your eyes at him.
"I think you're just bad."
"Excuse me? I'm decent, you're just too good."
"I beat you by 200 points."
Before you can retort, Himari runs up to you, "Okay, lovebirds, this is nice and all, but Yuji is hungry again."
"Of course he is," Sukuna sighs, "Let's go." He completely ignores the fact that Himari called you two lovebirds and you guys follow Himari back to the group.
"Uncle Kuna!" His face breaks out into a grin as he sees you too, "Look at what big brother Akio won me," he runs up to you and shows you. "That's a very cute dog plush, Yuji," you ruffle his hair.
"Thank you for getting that for him. How should I pay you back?" Sukuna asks Akio.
"You don't have to," Akio replies.
"But I want to."
"Seriously, you don't have to. Just keep on making them happy." It doesn't take a genius to know who he's referring to.
"Okay, boys. Let's go eat before Yuji starves," Nana says, grabbing Yuji's hand, "I know this delicious place that sells delicious udon."
Yuji's eyes sparkle, "I love udon," he exclaims.
"I'm glad, let's go then," Nana leads the way, you and Sukuna walking behind them with Himari and Akio behind you guys.
Dinner was a peaceful affair and Sukuna drove you all back home, with you being the last to be dropped off. "Thank you for today, Sukuna," you say before leaving the car.
"No, thank you guys, you've made Yuji and I happy today." At his words, you feel your face heat up and your heart beat just a bit faster.
"Of course, any time," you say as you exit the car. Upon seeing you enter your house, he drives off.

You're sitting at the cafe with Akio, waiting for Nana and Himari to arrive. The two of you are chatting about life, but mostly about yours and Sukuna's interesting relationship.
"So, what's your verdict on him?" Akio asks you.
"Verdict? What is this court?" You give him a perplexed look.
"You heard me. What do you think of him at the moment. Any butterflies?" He wiggles his eyebrows at you and you cringe.
"You're asking the person who thinks feeling butterflies in your stomach are a myth," you give him a deadpan look, but he doesn't give up.
"That doesn't matter, even if isn't butterflies, I want to hear your opinion of him from your mouth," Akio is stubborn, determined to see your feelings and thoughts about Sukuna.
You sigh, giving up, "you just want to see my facial expressions so you can study me," he doesn't deny it, so you continue, "well, I think that he can still be a little bit of an ass, he still acts before thinking, and he still doesn't listen well."
"But..?" Akio pushes, he can see that you're hesitating to say more.
"But he's trying really hard to be better and I don't know what to think," you admit, fidgeting with your fingers and avoiding his gaze. Sukuna has been softer lately, less yelling, less glaring, his personality has done a small 180, though he does slip up sometimes. The most important thing is that he's trying. It's a weird change that blooms uncertainty in your chest.
"You don't have to think anything of it. All he's doing is trying to be a decent person. You don't automatically have to fall head over heels for him because of it. All that's happening is your opinion of him is changing and you are uncertain of how to navigate it because you're scared. Being scared of this change is okay, just keep track of his progress and keep watching him, then maybe you'll be less scared and you'll learn how to navigate it," Akio reassures you and you feel the weight lessen. He knows that you're scared of change, you prefer to keep a routine, which is why your jobs consists of following a routine.
"That is probably the most comforting thing you've said to me. Thank you," you glance back at him and give him a smile.
"I know. I'm the best, keep telling me that," at his statement, you roll your eyes. However, before you could respond, a voice calls out your name. You look over and are met with Yuji's bright eyes with Sukuna trailing behind him. Sukuna is glaring at Akio and you can tell he's holding his tongue. Akio averts his gaze and instead looks at Yuji, giving him a smile.
"Are you on a date?" Yuji innocently asks.
"No, I'm not. This is my very good friend, Akio. We're waiting for two more of our friends so we can go hang out," at your words, Sukuna's scowl softens and he pulls Yuji away, "you heard them, let's not bother them on their day off."
"Wait," Akio stops them, earning a glare from you, "come hang with us. None of us will mind." You resist the urge to punch him.
"Are you sure?" Sukuna asks skeptically.
"Positive," at Akio's words, he takes a seat with Yuji.
"Of course you say that, you guys live for the drama," you mutter under your breath.
"What was that?" Akio asks you.
"Nothing," you lie and he eyes you.
Eventually, Nana and Himari arrive, "sorry, the bus was being a pain in the ass," Himari says. Upon seeing Sukuna and Yuji, they give you a silent look to which you eye the culprit who pretends not to see it. They introduce themselves to Sukuna and Yuji and sit down.
"If you don't want us here, we can leave. I don't mind. After all, this was supposed to be a hangout for you guys," Sukuna looks back and forth between Nana and Himari before his eyes land on Nana who responds.
"No, stay. We want to get to know our precious friend's boss and the kid they look after," Nana gives Yuji a smile which he happily reciprocates. You curse all of them in your head, this is going to be a long day.
"Thank you for letting us crash then. What's the agenda for today?" Sukuna questions.
"We wanted to eat and then head to an arcade," Nana replies.
"Sounds fun, is that something you want to do, Yuji?" Sukuna looks at Yuji as he waits for a response.
Yuji thinks about it for a bit before saying, "yes, please, uncle Kuna."
"Alright then, we'll go," Sukuna ruffles Yuji's hair and gets up, "I'll go order food for us. What do you guys want?" The four of you try to protest, not wanting him to pay, but he cuts you all off. "Let me do this since you let us crash your hangout." You know that he's stubborn, so instead of arguing and wasting time, you give him your order, your friends following suit.
After he leaves, Yuji decides it was the best time to reintroduce himself, "Hi, I'm Yuji and I'm five years old. I live with my uncle Kuna, who really really likes them," he points to you with a grin on his face and before he could utter another word, you cover his mouth. However, the damage is already done. Your friends are giving you a look and you wished the ground would swallow you up.
You let go of Yuji's mouth and he apologetically says, "I'm sorry, was I not supposed to say that?"
"No, you're fine, Yuji. Don't worry about it. My friends are going to be annoying about it. It's not your fault," you reassure him and your friends quickly agree.
Sukuna makes him way back to you guys with everything in hand. He hands everyone their food and sits back down. "Did anything interesting happen while I was gone?" Sukuna looks at Yuji for an answer.
"No, uncle Kuna, but I think everyone is so nice," Yuji responds.
"That's good, Yuji, I'm glad," he pinches Yuji's cheek.
All of you finish eating and make your way to the arcade. "Uncle Kuna, hold my hand, please," Yuji holds his hand out to Sukuna and he takes it. Yuji then turns to you, "hold my hand too, please," he holds his hand out to you and you take it. Behind you, your friends are all giving each other a look and Nana takes a picture, grinning to herself.
Yuji happily hums to himself with you and Sukuna by his side, "It feels like we're a real family now," Yuji says. You and Sukuna don't disagree and Sukuna opts for a "yes, we are." Your friends' eyes widen and they mentally take note of it to tease you later.
You arrive at the arcade and Yuji runs off. "Hey! Don't run off, you'll get lost!" Sukuna yells.
"Don't worry about him, dude. We'll help look after him," Akio runs after Yuji.
"Yeah, don't worry about it. We got him," Nana walks behind Akio, giving you a wink.
"Have fun, you two." Himari pats you on the back, following behind.
"Guys, wait—" You try to trail after them, but Himari turns around and says, "Seriously, we got this. Have fun you two." Those traitors.
"Sorry about that, I'm going to try to get him back." Sukuna jogs after them and you watch him as he goes. From what you can see, the exchange isn't going too well. It looks like they're trying to keep Yuji hostage.
Sukuna makes his way back to you, "It looks like they're set on keeping Yuji for themselves," he looks around the arcade, "So what do you want to do?"
"Can we go to the claw machine first? I want that red panda in it," you ask him excitedly.
"Yeah, let's go." You lead the way and he follows you.
You take out your wallet to pay for the claw machine, but Sukuna holds your wrist, "I'll pay for it," he takes his wallet out. "Do you even have coins in there?" You ask him.
"Nope, but I can always exchange my cash for some coins at the counter, let's go," he drags you to the counter, not letting go of your wrist at all. He exchanges his cash for some coins and drags you back to the claw machine. "Here," he hands you the coins and you try to protest, but he stops you, "Think of it as an employee bonus." You eye him and sigh, deciding that arguing with him wasn't worth it.
"This is what I'm talking about when I say you don't listen," you whisper under your breath, taking the coins from his hand.
"What was that?" He gives you an amused look.
"Nothing," you put the coins in the slot and begin to guide the claw with the joystick to the red panda you want. You press the button and the claw goes down, but it doesn't grab the red panda, "No!" You try again and again until eventually you run out of coins.
"Bro, I'm telling you right now, this is rigged," you look at him.
"Let me try, wait right here," he goes back to the counter to exchange more coins and comes back. He puts the coins in and does the same thing you did. After his second try, he got it.
"No way! You got it! Oh my god, thank you!" You hug him and he stiffens, "I'm so sorry," you back up immediately and he hands you the plush.
"It's no problem, I'm glad I could make you happy," he gives you a soft smile, one that you find yourself reciprocating. The two of you just walk around before you stop him, "I want to try that shooting game," he glances at what you were talking about and agrees.
The two of you start the game up and he's surprisingly good. Guess he's not hostile for nothing, he is way too good at shooting at the monsters. The game ends and it's no surprise that he won. "Why the hell are you so good at shooting? Like what the hell," you say, exasperated.
"I've always been good at these games," he says.
"Of course you have," you roll your eyes at him.
"I think you're just bad."
"Excuse me? I'm decent, you're just too good."
"I beat you by 200 points."
Before you can retort, Himari runs up to you, "Okay, lovebirds, this is nice and all, but Yuji is hungry again."
