“Oh! I’m sorry.”
Don’t sweat it. I just didn’t know anyone was in here.
This was the last apple.
She laughed a little “well it’s nice to meet you Jaq”
And you, San. Would you kill me if I called you Sannie?
This was the last apple.
“I know it is. Mononoke means spirit or ghost in Japanese, and I’m called that because I have the ability of mediumship”
Oh, that makes sense. I’ve got sound manipulation, but people usually just stick with Jaq.
This was the last apple.
“San. But people call me Mononoke. Whatever works best”
That’s a mouthful. Why-- what was it?
This was the last apple.
“Trust me, I’ve noticed”
Name’s Jaq.
This was the last apple.
“Thanks. I hope it will”
There are a lot of unpleasant people out there.
This was the last apple.
“I couldn’t really care less” she said “I have two foster brothers who eat like wolves, so fair is not in my vocabulary”
Tough kid. Good for you. You’ll need that out in the big wide world.
This was the last apple.
“You wouldn’t have too anyway. At my house its first-come-first-serve so I’m use to getting some good I want”
Nice to hear. So many people are concerned with being fair nowadays.
This was the last apple.
“That’s alright I’m not a big fan of apples” San said
Okay, good. I don’t have to feel guilty then.
This was the last apple.
I have friends in high places.
You have friends?
Jealous, Luci? Friends are nice. Perhaps you ought to give them a try.
I have friends in high places.
Or at last watery ones.
Rita lived the warm weather, the approaching swimming weather. The approaching end of school as well. It would be the time of year she wouldn’t be stuck inside with her brothers. She would be able to stay out for days under the sky and not have to worry about freezing. “Rita.” She replied, laying back on the dock before looking over at him. “What brings you out to the water?”
“My only day off,” Jaq replied immediately. It was true, he worked constantly-- practically all day, every day. The conditions were practically illegal, but Jaq stayed. He couldn’t leave Ella in that mess. He cared too much.
“And what about you?” he asked, just making pleasant conversation.
Her eyes opened as someone sat next to her, the smile still on her face. When he spoke, she nodded and replied in a calm voice, as if not to disturb the water. “It is. I can’t wait for summer. For the weather to stop fluctuating and just be nice.” She looked out over the water, her eyes drifting to her boat house before looking out over the water again.
Jaq leaned back on his elbows, looking over as she spoke. He nodded in agreement. He never got much time to enjoy the outdoors unless he was cleaning outside of the Tremaine house, so he cherished days like these when he could relax.
“I’m Jaq,” he said, speaking in the silence that was more peaceful than awkward.
Rita sat on the docks, her feet swinging over the ocean water. Humming softly to herself, she turned her face to the sky and closed her eyes, smiling as a breeze went through her hair.
Jaq had his first day off in a while, so he decided to spend the day just cruising around Disney, keeping mostly to himself. He ended up around the docks. The breeze was pleasant, rustling his hair lightly. He walked along, walking the water and the light reflecting on its surface. As he walked e caught sight of a girl. The last strange girl he met was a psycho, so his first instinct was to simply walk by. But she seemed much different. Instead Jaq sat next to her, looking out over the water.
“Its a nice day.”
Well, congrats. Do you want a cookie?
If you’re offering, Luci.
