today is harlon's 300th+ birthdayyyy ^_^ another 55 for the books! looks like we're due for a thunderstorm tonight and i'm working on a little charm/keychain for him to celebrate, watching smthn w his faceclaim in it in the background.. gonna make some apple tea too

a handful of harlon hcs for this very merry beltane ^_^ still in the processes of polishing them up, thus the extra notes, but i wanted to share in time for harlon's special day

"lamb" or "holy lamb" being another title islanders use for harlon, alongside his "saint" and "prophet" titles (mainly bc i find this very cute.. people addressing him as 'my lamb'/'my holy lamb', similarly to 'my lord'/'my laird')

harlon acts mainly as the religious leader of terrapin, not so much the community leader but still holds great sway over island proceedings (when i first made harlon i imagined him in a position of power not unlike lord summerisle in the wicker man but i don't think that suits him anymore.. so shifting him to religious leader instead)

harlon as a compulsive smiler.. yes he smiles a lot normally but i think he also does it compulsively, like when smiling would be socially inappropriate, ie he’s worked up or perhaps uncomfortable (giving him more #weirdo traits.. i like when he's a little unnerving, a little strange. plus this is smthn i tend to do myself LOL)

uses "keep warm, keep well" in greeting like how christians use "peace be with you" (also bc i find this cute and nuada-leaning)

a complete stranger was able to pinpoint the rot with startling accuracy. it was disconcerting to say the least . . . just who was this man? no, being.

despite the warmth radiating within harlon's smile, a feeling of unease washes over him. lip pierce together into a thin line and brows furrow, freyja's hesitation was clear as day. the shadow below began to flicker, resembling a physical manifestation of his emotions within that moment.

❝ . . . you're correct, the rot is what claimed my leg. ❞ harlons' two steps forward were instinctively met with two steps backward, the rabbit heavily leaning his body weight onto his dominant leg. ❝ asking for a stranger to expose a most vulnerable part of their body without exchanging names first? ❞

he questions, still unsure if the man before him was trustworthy. the offer was tempting, as the gnarled scarring of his leg was roaring with pain, begging for the prosthetic to be taken off after hours, no, days of being on foot. the only respite it got were during baths in freshwater springs, always quick and hurried in fear of being caught.

and with that his warmth returns as though it had never left. so, too, does the order of the world. the little clearing is lively once more, leaves swaying happily in the wind, concerned only with the gentle summer sun pouring down upon them.
