And so on August 1, our Theatre tour of the Scarlet Pimpernel concluded in London. And what a fantastic conclusion it was - our London debut performance sold out. Audience and Theatre feedback was phenomenal. Our team had a lovely road trip from Devon to Camden and back again.

Due to multiple requests, we will be bringing our summer 2027 show which will be William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, back to London- so look out for updates about this during the winter.

A huge thank you to the Etcetera Theatre in London for making us so welcome, to @brixhampiratesfestival for allowing us space to fundraise the vital minibus hire costs to get us there, and an absolutely incredible team of actors Stage crew and creatives for making this such a massive success.

For anyone who missed our production of the Scarlet Pimpernel, the show was filmed at @brixham_theatre and during the autumn will be available to watch globally on Amazon Fire TV and Roku, on the VOMO channel.

We are absolutely thrilled to be working with RNLITorbay for their 160th anniversary commemoration of the 1866 storm that wiped out the towns fishing fleet, and a lot of other channel shipping, and led to Torbay getting its first RNLI lifeboat. Over the years we have produced multiple theatre productions about the storm, researched from local and national newspapers of the time alongside locals family stories, done talks and presentations for various local societies, hold an extensive collection of research on the Gale in our archives, and on August 22nd will be presenting a short talk, and the live performance of a ballad about the storm, as part of the RNLI’s Stormfest, by Brixham Harbour.

Maths teacher and aerospace engineer looking for jobs in the southwest

Completely off topic from our theatre and film productions , we have an incredible lady in our team, who is currently seeking a full time job to start soon in the southwest. She is a qualified maths teacher (secondary school level) and a graduate in aerospace engineering.

While neither field is our area of expertise we are very happy to provide her with a glowing character reference, she is awesome, reliable, well presented and very clever.

Her involvement with us would not be at any detriment to the full time job.

Based on the famous novel, and suitable for all ages,

The Scarlet Pimpernel combines adventure, intrigue and humour in equal measure.

In 1792, at the height of the French Revolution, in Paris, people destined for the Guillotine, begin to be rescued. This rescuer can never be identified, a psydonym – the Scarlet Pimpernel.

Meanwhile, in London, Sir Percy Blakeney; who is widely known to be the leader of London fashion, marries Marguerite, a beautiful, intelligent French actress, while Citizen Chauvelin, an agent of the French government, arrives in London, seeking the identity of the mysterious Scarlet Pimpernel.

A look behind the scenes at The Scarlet Pimpernel. These are our amazing Sir Percy and Margurite, and Chauvelin, being fitted for some of their costumes this evening after rehearsals.

Our incredible costume team are creating over 60 18th century costumes for the show, ranging from stunning court outfits for the Princess of Wales' ball, through to the rough rags of the rioters on the streets of Paris. Everything being made of recycled fabrics (curtains, sheets, tablecloths etc) sourced from charity shops and jumble sales.

The Scarlet Pimpernel is a fast-moving, entertaining period drama whodunnit combining adventure, and humour, based on the novel by Baroness Orczy, including wider historical and cultural research of the time., suitable for all ages.

In 1792, at the height of the French Revolution, in Paris, aristocrats destined for the Guillotine, begin to be rescued, by a mysterious figure, who always eludes capture. This rescuer can never be found or identified, except by little slips of paper featuring the image of a small English flower, the Scarlet Pimpernel.

Meanwhile, in London, Sir Percy Blakeney; who is widely known to be the leader of London fashion, and a carefree, whimsical fop, marries Marguerite, a beautiful, intelligent French actress and friend of the revolutionary government in France, and Citizen Chauvelin, an agent of the French government, arrives in London, seeking the identity of the mysterious Scarlet Pimpernel.

Would you believe that a gown like this (photo is work in progress) can be made of found and recycled fabrics?

Well the costumes for the Scarlet Pimpernel couldn’t happen without a massive lot of remaking and recycling. A majority of the fabric we are using comes from curtains and sheets and other large pieces of recycled fabrics. 🙂

the third picture is the bag of offcuts - all the offcuts that are too small to use, we donate in turn to another local creative group who use them for quilting and other fabric crafts, so that as little as possible goes to waste.

Eco-friendly and budget (budget, what budget? Only what we make from selling handmade jewelry and home grown plants). friendly costuming for the win !
