IMPORTANT NOTE :: Things will be OOC and NOT canon compliant. The characters might seem more like OCs! Treat this as an au and NOT canon or as a theory for actual deltarune! My depiction of Deltarune is also HEAVILY reliant on Undertale and that it IS a video game!
Alright! With that out of the way, below the cut is where all of my major important details about my portrayal come from and about this AU! As time goes on I will add more and might even make a whole new post about it. If I say or do anything wrong or bad, please message me as I might not have known it was wrong or bad! And please be polite, I am human, I have feelings, I deserve to be treated with the patience that I CAN change.
This is my canon for the characters!
I think the school in hometown has mixed age classrooms because it is so small. Susie and Kris were held back due to mental health, absences, and bad grades. The school is based on the American school system as well.
The year is 2022! The story starts at the beginning of the new school year! Alphys’ class are Juniors/Seniors!
KRIS DREEMURR
Kris is mixed, personally I think they’re Navajo, Brazilian, and Japanese mixed. Kris was surrendered as a baby and put into foster care. They were moved around in the system a lot until they were 4 and adopted by the Dreemurr family. No one knows their ethnicity tho and it’s a guessing game. Favorite character right here!!! Can you tell??
After coming out as nonbinary around 14-15 years old Kris would that spring be sexually assaulted by Carol Holiday. She did it to “fix” them and “remind them that they will always be a man.” She assures Kris if they say anything she’ll spin it around and say the opposite happened, that it was Kris who attacked. This made Kris very suicidal, they refused to speak after the incident and refused to be touched by anyone. Toriel would pull them from school and admit Kris to the hospital for intensive psychiatric care. Kris would stay in the hospital for a little over a year and that’s where they learned piano. It was their only pastime and way to express themself. Kris refuses to say what happened and downplays what happened in their head because they’re AMAB, because “they’re supposed to like it.”
Kris used to have a therapist! A skeleton man who- what? A skeleton therapist? No no it’s only been Sans and Papyrus! There has never been anyone else. They moved in about 3 almost 4 years ago! Time flies huh?
Kris loves music! They were learning guitar from December Holiday before their favorite bands are old emo and alt bands! Like MCR, Panic at the Disco, In This Moment, and Set It Off!
Kris’s birthday is October 31st, 2003!
SUSIE
Susie is Afro Latina, her mom got postpartum depression and when Susie was 1 she killed herself. Susie’s dad resents Susie for this, he tried to get therapy for it but he dropped it, and only worsened. Susie and him have gotten into many screaming matches and gotten physical with each other. Note: they both did. Susie would hurt him too. This is NOT to excuse anything but to show character complexity. Susie is woman loving woman lesbian, the chart says sapphic but I changed my mind! I love you Susie!!!
RALSEI
Ralsei is black and white mixed and cannot remember his parents. He’s not even sure he had any to begin with but he’s a prince so he must have because he would be the king if not right..? Do not be fooled. While I say their birthday is September 1st, 2011 that is based on when Toby Fox had the dream that Undertale and Deltarune are based on. In truth Ralsei’s age and birthday are enigmatic, think of it as Ralsei can appear to be any age they want to whoever is viewing them. To the FUN gang, Ralsei appears to be 16-18 years old. To King, Queen, and Lancer Ralsei appears to be 24-26 years old. Ralsei decides how old they look based on how they think you’ll treat or perceive them. If he thinks you’ll be nicer and easier if he looks young he’ll look like a young to mid teen. If he thinks looking young will make you not take him seriously, then he’ll appear older. Mentally however, Ralsei sits at a young adult so anywhere from 20-23. Due to isolation Ralsei acts more immature and emotionally vulnerable.
Trans Ralsei theory real?!???!!! Yes and no. I think Ralsei is intersex! Initially appearing AMAB however they go through a “female” puberty, also known as Aromatase Excess Syndrome (Hyperestrogenism). This can be very scary. Especially since the prophecy calls for a dark PRINCE not a PRINCESS or anything else! Which causes Ralsei to bottle, stress, repress, and JUST be what the prophecy needs and wants. This leads to them binding and letting people to refer to them however they’d like. At the end of the day though I feel Ralsei would find himself… fluid, open, and not wanting to confine to any one label since that’s all he has been doing. Ralsei would just like to be themself, dress in what they like and not let that define who they are.
(I’m intersex!!! This is representation for me!!! I do love trans fem Ralsei theory though!)
THE HOLIDAYS
Carol Holiday is white Canadian. I do not like her.
Rudolph Holiday is Mexican, from Sinaloa! I have mixed feelings for Rudy.
The Holiday children are Mexican Canadian mixed. Des looks more Mexican than white, Noelle looks more white than Mexican which lead to differential treatment. I LOVE THE HOLIDAY SISTERS.
Asgore and Toriel are white(?) I think they’re of Cymry and Georgian descent but from USA! Asgore is Cymry and Toriel is Georgian. (Hey are Georgian people POC? What do you/they consider yourselves?) I LOVE the Dreemurrs!!!!(Asriel and KRIS, included!!!)

Sans, Papyrus, and Gaster? Black. No such things as a mom here since Gaster created Sans and Paps from himself and other weird genetic shattering!

A challenge to grow as an artist and find myself in art more! From digital to physical I’ll try to draw one of these characters at least once a day everyday for a whole year!

To entertain my friends and family who love DELTARUNE! I have never played it! This is all based on my looking at sprites and what crumbs I’ve seen!
I think hometown high school is like my high school, small. As such grades are mixed ages to fill out classes and to give people chances to graduate if they’ve had trouble. I think Susie was held back for absences and bad grades. I think Kris went to grippy sock land for a year ish after “the incident™️”
